    All Around The Best

    • Written by from Columbus

Like many, I've been through scores of headphones over the years. These present the best combination of design and sound that I've encountered. Sound reproduction is outstanding across the spectrum. Tight yet mellow. The included microphone cord is a real plus. The build qu thatality is outstanding, and the carry case is good looking and functional. I was afraid I was overpaying (again) for a piece of technology, but these headphones are worth every penny.

They look good, sounds great and fits perfectly over your ears without hurting hour after hour on a long plane trip. Shuts out sounds from around pretty good too and lets you focus on the music instead. Great buy. Love them.

I own many sets of in ear, and on ear cans.. AKG, Shure SE530's , etc etc etc... I have the P5's and they are my FAVORITE to listen to, to wear for lengthy periods.. and musically FANTASTIC for the $300.00
made beautifully, work with Iphone mic, Volume and track remote... just really really nice.
here is a tip.. if you listen in the store... you will NOT NOT get the best results from these cans.. you MUST listen on a direct Ipod connection, preferably LOSSLESS tracks.. to really appreciate the musicality of these astounding phones..
    I LOVE EM!!

    If 6 stars were possible...

Easily the best sound quality I have ever heard. I am listening to them as I write this review and they still amaze me how good they sound. I went on a headphone hunt about a month ago and I found these recently released beauties. I read the reviews and had to test and compare. I do not like shoving the earbuds into my ear canals so I did not even look at in-ear headphones.

I found the Dr. Dre on-ear beats very poor, they sacrificed sound quality for bass and it sounded terrible to me. The Dr. Dre over-ear sounded really good but I was looking for something more portable and I was not convinced that the beats were as good as advertised. They are overrated.

The Bose over-ear noise canceling sounded really good but the ambient noise made my ears pop and it annoyed me. Also, again, I was looking for portable. The Bose on-ear sounded great and they were portable. The construction was not as sturdy as the BW P5 but these were a very close second.

The Sennheiser headphones had really good sound quality but they folded up awkwardly and wearing them was uncomfortable and they provided nothing in blocking outside noise.

The Bowers and Wilkins are everything that is advertised and more. Nothing disrupts your ability to hear the music. You can hear the background noise in busy areas but it doesn't distract you from truly enjoying the perfect sound quality. Comfortable wear and easy portability made these headphones an instant favorite. I wear them while riding my bike to school and I was afraid the sound of the wind rushing by would destroy the sound but they do a very good job of maintaining your ability to listen to the music, even though I can still hear the wind I don't have to turn the volume up to full to listen to the music or my podcasts. They get better the more I wear them

    Great headphones

I am not an audiophile, but just a bloke who listens to variety of music (Beatles, Oasis, Classical, Folk, Electronic, etc.). My main music device is my iphone 3G and my MacBook Pro. I initially was looking for active noise canceling headphones. However, having listened to Bose QC 15 bunch of times and then listening to the B & W P5 bunch of times, I choose B & W P5. My reason was that it cut out enough noise via passive method, but delivered much better sound. Bose QC 15 definitely has better noise canceling. However, Bose QC 15's sound is very tinny in my ears. Honestly, try them both out at the Apple Store. B & W P5 sounds so much better! Just my two cents.

    Simple Enjoyable (MUSIC AUDIOPHILE)

    • Written by from somers

To Start : I have Had many varieties of headphones in the past 6 months looking for something that was well balanced all around. IN many efforts and failed attempts after going through 5 different types of headphones an many different brands I have found a set that are balanced all around.

Breakdown: The P5 Mobile may not be for working out and running but come on don't buy headphones like these with hopes that they will be they are very durable and extremely Comfortable all around. They are slightly pricey but for the price that i payed i am satisfied. I have had ALL THREE DRE headphones the Tours, Solo's , Studios and for the price as same as the studios these have a much better sound profile unlike the studios that DRE are way to bass heavy an not true reproduction of sound. These have a wide range of mid's an highs that have made it enjoyable to listen to the diverse genres of music that i listen to daily. Ranging from HIP hop to YO-YO-MA simply incredible.

    W O W ! ! Finally The Perfect Headphone

    • Written by from Collierville

B & W has done it again! I owned Dr. Dre Beats, Bose QC2's and QC15's. I am a very picky about the sound of my music playback. The Beats, were cheaply made and have tons of base and lack mids. The Bose, well, noise canceling distorts the playback in my opinion. Now bring on the B & W's. The sound is perfection, plenty of bass, without sacrificing mids and highs. I absolutely love these cans. The craftsmanship make you feel like you are getting more than your $300 out of these. The Beats, seem cheap and do not travel well. The case is horrible on them and I had a heck of a time with storage while traveling. Not so with the P5's. I finally was able to use them on a flight. I watched a movie on my Ipad, and listened to some music. They really did a great job of blocking out engine noise. I really did not miss the noise canceling. I was very happy with the sound while flying. Nearly as good as the Bose. One other point, while listening at home at a nice volume. They do not "bleed" sound. Meaning you cannot hear very much outside the cans thus disturbing others around you. I hope this helps. These are absolutely 5 stars in every way!!!! You will not regret buying these cans. Enjoy!!!

These are the best pair of speakers I have ever had. You will find yourself finding time to listen to your fav albums and discovering layers of music that you had not heard before. And at 300$ they are a steal as music this pure is priceless. Thank you b&w!!

    Almost perfection

    • Written by from boulder

    Sound: Absolutely fantastic.

    Aesthetics: Pleasing.

Mobility: Not good for moving around too much, but excellent at home.

Wearability: As every on-ear headphone, they can become uncomfortable after 2+ hours.

Overall, these are fantastic headphones, but don't plan on wearing them for more than 3 hours... they are likely to become uncomfortable, even with the fancy squishy pads.

    1st Impression, Average.

    • Written by from Walnut Creek

I just picked up the P5's for a trail run. With a 14 day return policy, I figured I would give it a shot. I a bit of headphone elitist so this is more a review for those in the "know". I currently have Westone 3s, Shure 530s (broken, stupid cable) Grados i60's and ATH-A700 to compare. I was looking for a portable closed back can as my Westones can start to hurt the ears after a few hours. I wont reiterate what has already been said, build quality (incredible) and price (high), but will chime in with my 2 cents. First I dont have a iphone (broken) listen to them on my HTC HD2 (better music player in my opinion). Overall impressions have been, average. Comfort for me have not been a problem. I can wear glasses, no problems. They do heat the ears a bit, but does not bother me. I wont even compare them to Westones, but will say I do like them better than the grados. I feel there is a better overall richness than the grados, but still think the ATHs have a better soundstage. That being said, the ATHs are HUGE, so not a really option to commute with. Like previous comments, the seem to be lacking a bit of highs, or for that matter, the lows I think are a bit overpowering. I tried a variety of music, and depending on the bit rate and style, it varies. Listened to Pink Floyd on a loseless codec and it lacked the depth that should be there. On the other hand, Blackroc incoded at 192k, sounded really good. Social Distortion sounded good, but vocals seemed distance and not up front. Basement Jaxx at 320k, sounded better than my Westones, so go figure.

I tried them both amped and no amp, and its very clear these are made for a DAP with NO amp.

I think if you are thinking about Monster Beats, or Bose, then these are a great option. I hate active nosie cancelling, so these are better than the Bose, but still have the heavy bass signature sound like the UGLY beats.

    Not worth the price

    • Written by from Toronto

These are decent headphones and the leather pads are very comfortable, but the branding is meretricious and the price is outrageous. I have B&W speakers; the sound from these is not in the same league. Obviously you can't expect speaker sound from headphones, but I've heard better sound from cans 1/3 the price of these.

    Thank goodness for these cans.

    • Written by from Chicago

Recently there has been a rise in prosumer cans around the $200-300 price point. Gone are the days when Bose was the only brand people thought of when looking for a great set of high-quality headphones. When I walked into the Apple Store the other day and saw the much-hyped Beats sitting there in their gaudy plastic housing then subsequently ruining most of the songs I listened to by pushing WAY too much bass into my ears I looked to my right and saw these beauties attached to a 3GS. The design had me skeptical, but the moment I brought out my iPod and listened to Them Crooked Vultures on lossless quality I realized something incredible: I could HEAR the room. I threw every possible genre in my arsenal at it -- even giving it my unscientific "A Milli" bass test to see if they would clip the song (nope). Eventually I broke down and bought them, and I still can't believe how great they sound. You just don't get sound quality like this for $300 from any other brand. No plastic, all high-quality components, and controls for the iPhone. Utter aural win.

With these you hear your music in a whole new way!

    • Written by from Manhattan Beach

So I decided to spend the money even though im a college student on nice pair of headphones and OMG its was well spent. After listening to a sample file from B&W and some of my own music I can tell you this, you began to pick up on sounds in which you've never heard through headphones when listening to music. Very well balanced and nice overall music sound quality some of the best I've ever heard from headphones. having experienced B&W I can tell you this its going to make you want to reimport all your music in a lossless format. In which I well be doing in fact. Overall design is beautiful and very well built. if your debating on weather to get these stop it and just get these trust me!

    Awesome, worth every penny!

Went in to the local Apple Store twice to try these out, just to make sure I really wanted to invest in these, after the second try, i walked out the door with them. They make lossy music on an iPod or Mac sound incredible
These are by far the best sounding headphones I've encountered. Clean, rich, full sound, nothing overpower the other. No thumpa thumpa bass overpowering the other sounds. Some headphone are too bass heavy, and some like the Bose have a very fake sound, these sound clean. pure and realistic. They are incredibly comfortable, can wear these for hours and not notice they are on. Good at isolating outside sounds. They are compact, yet seem sturdy. What are you waiting for? Go out try them out, you will end up buying them.

A little pricey but equal to others in the category but with much better sound. Clean and crisp and very natural. If you like Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young , you should hear the vocals on these. And on Bach Cello Concertos you can feel the individual strings vibrate. I have had them for a week and can't take them off. My wife feels I am ignoring her so beware these may effect your marriage.

    ALSO WORK ON THE IPAD!!!

    • Written by from Cherokee

I have been in dire need for a new pair of headphones ever since my Apple earbuds started peeling and the wires began loosening. I wanted to get a decent pair of headphones, but I wasn't sure I wanted in earbuds again. They have always become very uncomfortable after extended periods of use. I also wanted a pair of headphones that would work not only with my iPhone 3GS, but also my iPad. That's when I found the B&W P5's.

After doing some research on Apple's site and reading other online reviews, the P5's made it to a short list. However, I was distressed to learn from Apple's website that the headphones weren't listed as being compatible with the iPad. After a quick research of the iPad specs and the P5 specs, I determined they would, indeed work. Just to be sure, I called Apple and was pleased to find that they would indeed be compatible. The Apple rep said it was most likely due to the relative newness of the P5's and the iPad.

The P5's arrived today and they are simply impeccable! The leather and brushed steel is completely sexy and quite modern yet with a tasteful flair of retro. The leather these cans are wrapped in is absolutely buttery soft. It is apparent from the moment you remove these headphones from the box that these are indeed special. Without a doubt, these are the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn. The memory foam in the ear cups has been been neither uncomfortable or hot now after wearing them for over an hour and a half.

Arguably more important than comfort is the sound quality of the P5's. Believe everything you've read on these reviews. Initially, I wasn't looking to spend more than $125 for my headphones, but I'm glad I spent the extra money to get this set. I've thrown everything at them from my iTunes library. Everything from Beastie Boys to the Doors and these have handled them with great ease. The sound is just unbelievably clean, crisp and vibrant. The bass isn't overpowering or artificially thunderous. It's precisely as it was intended to be heard when it was recorded. The highs are just soaring and sweet. The full spectrum of my music can now be fully appreciated. Since there is a glaring difference between songs with a bit rate of 128 kbps and 256 kbps, I guess I'll spend the weekend importing my CDs into iTunes again, but this time with Apple Lossless!

The P5s arrived with the cord installed that contained the remote for operating iTunes and for making phone calls from the iPhone. I tried making a phone call with the mic and found the sound to be far superior to the mic on the standard issue Apple cans. The party I called said they couldn't even tell I was on the headset. The sound was perfect. The only thing that was a little off with the mic was that I couldn't really hear myself in my headphones very loudly if at all. I haven't read the instructions yet, so perhaps there is something I need to adjust, but even if there is no input into the headset from the mic, I had no trouble carrying on a conversation and that's a trade-off I'd be willing to accept to have such an exceptional pair of headphones.

While these aren't noise cancelling, they do an outstanding job of reducing ambient noise. I can see that these will be the perfect headphones to wear on my long car trips with the family when I don't care to listen to music in the car, but would rather watch a movie on my iPad. I won't have to crank the volume up to an uncomfortable or dangerous level in order to drown out the background noise. It's a very sequestered and peacefully isolated feeling inside the velvety smooth leather lining of these P5's!

I can not recommend these highly enough!

    Great Headphone

    • Written by from Austin

Classy design with great sound. Great detail in instruments and vocals. Great ear pads with iPhone compatible remote. Also comes with regular cable if you don't want the mic/remote in normal use.

Solid built, warm and full sound, comfortable fit. Sold my Bose QC3 and got this one...totally satisfied...now I know whey Audiophiles don't prefer Bose.
