Concerning Quality Issues Despite Great Sound

    • Written by from Beavercreek

As has been echoed many times in the review section, I was thrilled with the quality of sound with these ear phones but was very disappointed when one side stopped working after only months of use and good care of the product. After this happened, I took them to the Apple store and was able to acquire a replacement. However, in only a couple of months, the same problem occurred with the replacement pair. I like the feel and sound of the headphones, but would not recommend purchasing them unless Bowers & Wilkins is able to release a statement on how this problem can be fixed or avoided- as it seems to have occurred for many customers.

    Great song But very uncomfortable

    • Written by from Doral

I purchased these headphones yesterday at an Austin Apple store. As the title says they sound very good and truly isolate all outside sound. Unfortunately after having them on for around 10 minutes my ears could not tolerate the pressure.

I returned them and purchased the B&O headphones. They cost another $100, but sound as good and are very comfortable.

I returned my B&O H6's for these. I'm a convert from in-earphones. These have a fantastic sound, beautiful sleek design and fit nicely over the ears.

The new headphones are very comfortable and light.
Music is clear as a bell. Couldn't ask for a
more beautiful way to relax and enjoy music.
They are worth every penny. Feels like riding in a Rolls if
you close your eyes and sit in a big comfy
    leather wing back chair.

    Amazing Sound!

    • Written by from St. Louis

Debated between these and the Bose QC15 noise canceling headphones. Picked these due to the fact that the QC15s need a battery to work. So happy I picked these! The sound quality is great. The biggest surprise to me is how well the noise isolation works. When you put these headphones on, they only slightly muffle background noise. However, when you click the play button, almost all background noise is eliminated! Only downside to these is the connector is not "L" shaped, so it sticks out of the headphone jack further. Not a deal breaker, but something to be aware of.

Wow! TheP5s are a concert for one that's truly worth the price of admit

    • Written by from PITTSBURGH

Excellent audio performance. Extremely comfortable. Handsome design and carrying case. Relatively lightweight. Equipped with iPhone/iPod in-line remote control.

The super-thin black cable integrates iPhone/iPod controls. If you don't want the controls, that portion of the cable is easily removable and can be replaced with the plain old cable that comes bundled with the headphones. A good-looking carrying case with a black, silken finish and a quilted surface houses the headphones, the cables, and a ¼-inch adapter.

My only complaint with the design is, despite B & W's claim that the P5 is "noise isolating," the headphones offer no noise cancellation. Sure, there's a little muffling of ambient sound because you're placing the earpads on your ears, but virtually every headphone pair on earth offers this, and it's not very significant. The company should rethink this claim.

    Top Headphones

    • Written by from Racine

It may seem expensive priced at $299.95, but it's worth it. Not only is it durable with the leather and metal, it's everything they say it is. The sound isolation is nice as well, you don't pay attention to the outside world, but it's still there way in the background. The sound quailty is great, when I close my eyes I feel like I'm at a concert. Now I'm no expert with headphones, knowing if the highs, mids and lows are good, but compared to listening to other headphones it's no match. The sound stays in your ears, I have the volume up only 1/3 and it's loud enough. It doesn't leak, so people wont scream at you to turn it down. If you have the money spend it on them, if you want to get the P3's, don't. It's worth the extra hundred to get it out of metal so it'll last longer.

Material > Build Quality > Sound Quality

    • Written by from Falun

Had mine replaced after a lot of weird problems finally pinned down to these earphones being faulty, probably some grounding issue, made one of my headphone amplifier make crackling noises and to make another USB amplifier hang to be restarted several times a day. Please note that I tried like three different cables with the same results.

After I had them replaced the sound is different, the new pair has way more bass and lacks detail, the earlier pair had a more flat monitor like sound that I really enjoyed.

My final conclusion is that these now days look a lot better than they actually sound.

    Greatest headphones I've owned.

    • Written by from Brookshire

I've used tons of headphones being a sound engineer. These are not the best I've ever heard, but they are by far the best I've ever owned. I've used them for hours with no discomfort and they offer a totally true to source sound. I love these things.

    Awesome Headphones!!! 1 HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT

    • Written by

First of all I have to say that these headphones are simply spectacular!
My B&O earphones just broke & I wanted to give headphones a try, but their H6's won't be out until June/July in HK.
    SOUND-
In my opinion these have strong basses, mids & highs-for USD$299.95). Very natural clarity along with outstanding R/L stereo, if you like the signature crisp B&W sound you'll love these.
    BUILD-
Love the New Zealand sheep's skin leather, very comfy! But they feel like they could get dirty too easily...I got them in Ivory. Not a single component of plastic on them which makes it feel even more luxurious & sturdy. Removal ear cups & cable, beautiful travel pouch included!!!
    DISAPPOINTMENTS-
I got them in Ivory "white", & even right out of the box they have this dirty white appearance to them.. I was hoping for a brighter complexion. The texture of the leather feels dusty too, I got them at Apple so I'm deciding if I should swap them in for the black ones.

Overall a great product (apart from the "Ivory" colored leather, which is partly my problem since chose the color) I think I got everything I paid for in these headphone!

Great build quality as well as sound quality. Unlike headphones from it's competitors (eg. Bose), these headphones feel like they cost $300. You definitely get what you pay for. They also come with a very nice, soft travel case.

I have to say that P5 is the best MOBILE headphones that I have ever owned.
I have owned the Beats_Studio headphones and they are not comparable to P5 at any stage (I know someone would argue me this with the heavy bass from the Beats).
I also have the V-moda Crossfade LP and Boss QC15.
First, the sound on P5 is just beautiful and clear. It is crystal clear especially when the audio files are compressed above 256kbps (mine are all 320kbps).
Second, the weight is just perfect and it does not require a battery. On the other hand, Beats-Studio and Boss QC15 are a little bit heavier than the P5, especially the Beats.
Third, the craftsman, it is made of Calf. leather and metal. Also, it is easy to replace the cable and the ear cups.
Last but not the least, the brand, it is a legendary brand in making hi-end hi-fi audio boxes. I don't need to say much about the brand b/c it's out there, you can google it.
The only disadvantage that P5 has, if I must pick up some cons, is the level of noise-cancelation. P5 is not doing the same function very well as Boss QC15 does, but the level of noise P5 cancels is quite sufficient.
All in all, I am very pleased of the purchase, and in fact, I did do a lot of research on the P5 before I purchased, including the experiment of owning the other three headphones, I just have to say that P5 is the best MOBILE headphones out there.

I just love this headphones. It just sounds better than bose on-ear headphones. Very warm mid and highs and just the right amount of bass. I have this SRS amplifier that i put in my ipod and it just makes it more great sounding in a way that when you are listening to a concert its like you're there

    Great Product!

    • Written by from Valencia

First of all, the primary areas I had in mind when purchasing headphones was audio quality, design/build quality, ergonomics/portability and cost. I tested every headphone throughout my local Apple store as well as the one's Bestbuy had on display and in my opinion the P5's were the clear winner. The design/build quality is typical B&W. The looks are very elegant and will appeal to anyone that likes the finer things in life. The build quality is very good and should last for years as long as you maintain the fine leather. Ergonomically, I love the feel of the pads and the fit is very comfortable. The cord being on one side is a plus but I do think the controls could have been lowered about two inches but I'm sure I will get use to it. As for the sound, I find them to sound very warm with a good smooth bass. The mid's are warm as well as the highs but it could be a bit more detailed. Controls work great on the iPhone.

Overall, it will be hard to find a better headphone for $300 that will give you quality sound, comfort and the look of elegance. I had the P3's for a few days and realized for a price tag of $200 they just weren't cutting it that's why I stepped up to the P5's.

Amazing headphones but has one major flaw

    • Written by from Burnaby

I've had my p5s for a little under 3 years now, and I have to say they are amazing headphones. The sound quality can't be matched (doesn't compensate any mid frequency sounds with high levels of bass or treble), and they work great at isolating sound so all you really hear is the music. They are also quiet comfortable headphones will leather for both the ear pads and headrest.

However it does have a major flaw in that its cables are cheaply made. At least B&W thought about this ahead and made it so that the cables (and ear pads) are easily replaceable, but I've gone through 6 of them already and going to my 7th now (my 6th one just broke, when a friend of mine tugged at cable while it was attached to my iphone in my pocket. I haven't had any problem with B&W to get replacements but still its a minor annoyance that shouldn't be happening.
