Somewhat disppointed in the design of the earpieces

    • Written by from Corona

Disappointed, not in the sound quality which is very good, but in the leather construction of the earpieces which become very warm and rather sticky on my ears. It's like sitting on a piece of leather furniture wearing shorts. They really should have used foam or some kind of material other than leather here.

Audio quality though is very good. Very flat response, great accurate sound especially in the vocals.

I also have a pair of Klipsch which I feel are a much better value at half the price. There is very little difference in the audio quality though the Klipsch have a slightly stronger bass. So while not quite as accurate sounding as the B&W, the Klipsch is a real good alternative.

    Impressive! Just Buy Them!

    • Written by from New York

The amazing design and sound quality of these headphones are far superior to many others I have tried before. Rich, but not overpowering or distorted bass, clear, crisp mid-range and treble, convenient iPhone/iPod remote and alternate cable, magnetic, replaceable soft leather ear pads. Don't just take my word for it, bring your phone or iPod to a store that sells the P-5, and try them for yourself. These are worth the extra money. Aren't you? You deserve the best, so just buy them!

    Comfort meets Quality

The build and design of these headphones sets them apart from any other. The leather on my ears feel like little clouds. These Bowers & Wilkins bring out sounds in songs that I never knew existed before. Everything is crisp and clear unlike some competing headphones cannot do.

    B&W Bliss

    • Written by from Bunkerville

I have owned all the headsets that Bose makes, and love them... but these P5's are by far much better than the Bose ever were, in lows and in highs. I really bought these because I was looking for a headset with a mic, and these deliver there as well. Unbelievable. Very well paired with my iPhone4, and my iPad, and sound great on my Macbook Pro as well.

The only compliant is my head is very large... and after a LONG time, these need to be adjusted so it doesn't hurt my ears. But VERY well worth it. If I had known that before I bought them, I still would have purchased. Exceptional.

    Transparent, even, and comfortable

I record and listen to music more than anyone I know, and these headphones are a great representation of what you play through them. In NYC, as a music engineer and producer, it's hard to do the "car test" unless you own a car. Most of us don't, or don't always get a chance to use them. These headphones take the place of that "car test" for your mixes. I listen to them all over town... If your mix if off, they'll let you know it's not that good sounding. They're pretty noise isolating but not completely, which I dig because I don't want to get hit by a bus. They're super comfortable, streamline, built to last and sound noticeably better then ear-buds and other small mobile head-sets. They just feel nice. Like a BMW over a Honda... In my studio I've got fantastic Focal audio monitors and awesome Ultrasone headphones... These B&W P5s are another great way to listen to all kinds of music. Save your up your money, they're worth every cent!!!

These are the best pair of speakers I have ever had. You will find yourself finding time to listen to your fav albums and discovering layers of music that you had not heard before. And at 300$ they are a steal as music this pure is priceless. Thank you b&w!!

    Fantastic

    • Written by from Chicago

These headphones are absolutely great. The sound is fantastic. They are extremely comfortable. They beat the the Bose QC3 and QC15 across the board: 1) equivalent in noise canceling, although do not require batteries. 2) sound better and 3) are far more comfortable. Worth every penny. My QC3s are now on eBay.

Wow! TheP5s are a concert for one that's truly worth the price of admit

    • Written by from PITTSBURGH

Excellent audio performance. Extremely comfortable. Handsome design and carrying case. Relatively lightweight. Equipped with iPhone/iPod in-line remote control.

The super-thin black cable integrates iPhone/iPod controls. If you don't want the controls, that portion of the cable is easily removable and can be replaced with the plain old cable that comes bundled with the headphones. A good-looking carrying case with a black, silken finish and a quilted surface houses the headphones, the cables, and a ¼-inch adapter.

My only complaint with the design is, despite B & W's claim that the P5 is "noise isolating," the headphones offer no noise cancellation. Sure, there's a little muffling of ambient sound because you're placing the earpads on your ears, but virtually every headphone pair on earth offers this, and it's not very significant. The company should rethink this claim.

    Top Headphones

    • Written by from Racine

It may seem expensive priced at $299.95, but it's worth it. Not only is it durable with the leather and metal, it's everything they say it is. The sound isolation is nice as well, you don't pay attention to the outside world, but it's still there way in the background. The sound quailty is great, when I close my eyes I feel like I'm at a concert. Now I'm no expert with headphones, knowing if the highs, mids and lows are good, but compared to listening to other headphones it's no match. The sound stays in your ears, I have the volume up only 1/3 and it's loud enough. It doesn't leak, so people wont scream at you to turn it down. If you have the money spend it on them, if you want to get the P3's, don't. It's worth the extra hundred to get it out of metal so it'll last longer.

    Overall Pleased With My Purchase

    • Written by from hingham

I am 16 years old and bought these headphones to wear in my dorm and at home because of the great reviews and company reputation. After using them for a few days I am very impressed with the sound and build quality but my ears do become quite sore after wearing them for more than 90 minutes (only con so far!). The carrying pouch the unit includes was a pleasant surprise and something you would expect from a high end pair of headphones. I would strongly recommend these cans over any monster product. I have been unsatisfied with both pairs of my Beats as their customer service is a joke and their headphones are guaranteed to break within a year. The bottom line is that the Bowers and WIlkins p5 is a high quality, reliable, and fantastic sounding pair of headphones that are compact and mobile, well worth the hefty price tag. You are getting what you pay for!

Awesome headphones, super ugly carrying case

    • Written by from San Francisco

I love my new P5's but what's up with the carrying case?
Maybe they redesigned it now but I got the quilted black purse with the polished chrome logo plaque. I guess it's functional but lit looks like an old lady's make-up purse.
My wife cracks up every time she sees it.

    Big FAN of B&W

    • Written by from Kaneohe

I have been a bose owner for a very long time. I have B&W speakers for my home stereo and always love the sound they have givien me.

when I first saw the P5's come out I had to give them a run. they were excellent and brought out a lot of the music that was a little lost with the bose. the bass is not as heavy as the bose phones, but it is tighter and clearer. and the P5's can go a lot louder with no distortion. the high end is a lot more distinct where I can hear the airyness of the vocal effects and reverb. these phones also bring out more of the instruments and I can discern the different instruments more easily.

I am glad that I got these phones...another detail that i liked, besides the great styling, is that the ear pads come off so easily (just in case I need to replace them-as i did a few times already with my bose phones)

    Simply superb.

My wife bought these headphones for me this Christmas (2010) as a surprise. I had previously shown interest in these and the V-moda crossfade lp headphones and she did her research and opted to go for these - I am extremely glad that she did.
In the flesh these headphones ooze luxury and an understated retro style as soon as you open the box and it is immediately clear where your money (or in my case, my wife's money) has been spent. The New Zealand sheep leather is incredibly soft and the aluminium is tough, these are very well built and sturdy headphones.
On the ear they are very comfortable and due to their carefully thought out design they manage to block out most ambient noise not by employing noise-cancelling technology (which I find can detract from the quality of the audio in many cases) but by simply fitting well. I have worn these for extended periods of time and have experienced no discomfort whatsoever. They fold flat for easy storage in the achingly-cool quilted carry case which is supplied along with an iphone compatible (i.e. volume control, track switching, call making etc) cable.
Sound-wise, these headphones are, in my opinion, perfectly balanced. Trebles are clear but not too bright and the bass is strong without being muddy or overpowering.
I am noticing elements of songs that I have listened to for years that simply could not be distinguished on the stock iphone earbuds. Suffice to say I now want to convert my entire iTunes library to lossless audio to make the most of these beauties.
I can heartily recommend these to anyone who wants a very stylish set of headphones without having to sacrifice comfort, build quality and most importantly the listening experience. If you have the means, buy them!!

    Great headphones for the iPhone

    • Written by from The Woodlands

I love these headphones. They're light and comfortable and sound great with the music on my iPhone. They were a great replacement for a famous brand in-ear phones I was using. Way better sound. Also include an in-line mike so I can answer calls. I have been surprised at how good the noise isolation works. Highly recommended.

    Natural sound headphone

    • Written by from Vancouver

I broke my old Klipsch in-ear phone and was looking for a replacement. I want to get a mobile on-ear phone this time, so I tested drive the Bose, V-moda & Monster Beats Solo but were scared by the unnecessary heavy bass. I think I am so used to the more balanced sound headphone since Kipsch is the same kind of headphone as B&W, going for a more balanced sound. When I tested this one, I like it very much. While I am saying this is a balanced sound headphone but it doesn't mean its bass is not good. It actually procduced powerful but comfortable bass, just not the DJ type bass.

My major concern of this headphone is comfort. It's on-ear phone and that means it will produce some pressure on your ears, especially if you are waering glass like me. I have to give my ears a break every 30 mins or so. The carrying case isn't that good too and I prefer a hard case with better protection.

    Good quality, good isolation

    • Written by from Mississauga

Overall these are great looking comfortable high quality phones, they isolate great and also don't bleed out a lot of noise.
The sound signature however is very very tight, best if you are on a noisy bus but not so good for watching a movie or playing a game. These sound like many higher end IEMs and seem to work best with tight enclosed music, not airy Jazz or Classical. However that is just my opionion others may vary

So I decided to spend the money even though im a college student on nice pair of headphones and OMG its was well spent. After listening to a sample file from B&W and some of my own music I can tell you this, you began to pick up on sounds in which you've never heard through headphones when listening to music. Very well balanced and nice overall music sound quality some of the best I've ever heard from headphones. having experienced B&W I can tell you this its going to make you want to reimport all your music in a lossless format. In which I well be doing in fact. Overall design is beautiful and very well built. if your debating on weather to get these stop it and just get these trust me!
