Great Mouse for anyone who doesn't like the magic mouse.

    • Written by from roseville

I bought my iMac with the magic mouse, I thought it would be okay for Dota2 which is the only game i currently play. but after long play time my hand got tired and the magic mouse just isn't precise. especially with only one button and the right click is only okay if your other finger is off the mouse.

Long story short. i got this mouse and it support mission control since I'm running mavericks X. and its had back and forward button for browsing. i don't feel like I'm missing out at all. without the magic mouse.

Today I'm actually going into the store to exchange my magic mouse for a touch pad. so i only use my mouse for precise photo editing and gaming.

good luck. this is a great mouse without compromises. supports mac fully.

Great for 6 months... now not so great

    • Written by from Berrimah

I almost never write reviews, but I had to for this mouse. Most of the positive reviews are obviously from people who recently bought the mouse, and I felt the same when I bought it, wow, it's great, best mouse ever etc. 6 months later and the mouse is not working well at all. Doesn't track properly, problems clicking and dragging. Upon doing a search, plenty of other people have the same issue and Logitech support does not help them at all. After buying Logitech mice for the past 12 years, I am going to have to find another brand now. Their earlier mice were so good and lasted ages, but it seems recent products have a higher failure rate than previously.

GREAT NEWS! They fixed it for MAVERICKS

    • Written by from San Francisco

Awesome Mouse. I'm a video editor who is always on the go. This is my BABY. It not working in Mavericks was ruining my life - but they just released an upgraded driver package TODAY it seems. Back in business and a happy camper.

Mouse is a very bad mouse

    • Written by from wareham

It just decided to stop working. I have no idea why it was working for a while scrolling down and then just stopped for no reason. It also stopped recognizing it's own mouse, yet still retained part of it's function. So I can't use any of the buttons anymore nor scroll yet it moves around and can click. This mouse is the very worst!

Great mouse, but Logitech is slow to provide key updates - NO 10.9 support.

    • Written by from Toronto

This mouse will not work with Mavericks, actually, none of Logitech's mice (and possibly, keyboards as well) will work. It is incredible a massive company like Logitech would be so slow at providing support. It shows they don't really care or put the effort in they should for the Mac install base.

Otherwise, the mouse is great, well designed, it's more so the company needed to get their act together.

Performance Mouse MX doesn't work with Mountain Lion

    • Written by from Burbank

I've been using Logitech Performance Mouse MX for the past 2 years. It's the best mouse I've ever had. It stopped working after I upgraded my operating system from Lion to Mountain Lion. Basically Logitech Performance Mouse MX is not compatible with Mountain Lion.

Be Weary Of This Mouse On OSX

    • Written by from Indianola

I got this mouse today and have been messing with it for a few hours and let me just say that when I bought this mouse I had very VERY high expectations. Right when I opened the box I was very please with the button layout and how the mouse felt. I love the free scroll button on the top and the switch to the regular scrolling button.

BUT! DO NOT INSTALL THE OSX DRIVERS FROM LOGITECH!!

The Logitech drivers conflict with the existing OSX mouse settings. Meaning, if I have my default OSX scrolling speed set to the 4th tick, the Logitech driver multiplies this by whatever speed it's set to. That's what they mean by "hyper speed scrolling". Sure, fine if you're working in Excel, but it totally breaks Minecraft if you use the scroll wheel for selecting items in your hot bar. I'd imagine this is the same for other games "weapon selecting" as well.

The only con to this is not having any of your extra buttons work. I haven't had a chance to try third party button customization options, but I couldn't imagine they don't exist. If I find one I like, I'll be sure to update this post. So far a great mouse, with the exception of the absolutely terrible drivers for OSX. For $85 (sale on newegg) I expected better quality drivers, but, still a great mouse in terms of comfortably and button layout.

I'd just like to say that for all those people complaining that this mouse is to heavy, you must be spending WAY to much time on the computer. I mean, the mouse is like 1/4th a pound, if you're really to weak to move a mouse around a desk then that's just sad. Sure it's heavier than the common mouse, but it's NOT a common mouse. I actually love the weight to the mouse, it makes me feel like it's solid and of good quality.

In the end, I give the drivers a 1 star for OSX and the actual mouse 4 stars. I could see this mouse getting better reviews if maybe it was set to a more reasonable price of $60.

    Probably the best on market

    • Written by from Markham

Logitech rarely go wrong when it come sot input devices, and this is no exception.

It looks beautiful and feels even better on your hand, like its a natural part of you makes you feel completely in the driving seat of your computer and in control. The response is amazing, even on my lacquered desk and the ability to charge while using is thoughtful, however I wish the USB charging cable was thinner and more flexible. but then it rarely needs a charge

    Expensive and No compatible

    • Written by from New York

Worst drivers for OSX SnowLeopard, Lion and Mountain Lion. Doesn't work with Finder the preset button, you cant chose the move speed. It's Only work as normal Mouse in OSX.
You have to use with SteerMouse if you want all the function as a Windows Like. cost $20 more.

Buy this for Windows NOT for OSX

    Fantastic

I have this mouse and it's small cousin the notebook "Anywhere MX" mouse, and they're both great. Really enjoying the customizable buttons: programmed the thumb rest button for Mission Control and the zoom button for Launchpad.

I have huge hands, and this is a superb mouse for those whom have larger-than-average hands.

it's good/better, but not quite there

    • Written by from Anderson

I bought this mouse for my macbookpro (mac os x 10.7)
and the first quirk was: it wasn't supported. at all.
I then started using it with my work laptop, until recently I discovered that logitech came out with the new drivers for it.
After installing the new driver and tweaking around with it for a while, it works quite well. I must however say, it is clear that this mouse is not 'native' to the mac system. It still has a few quirks about it, but I'm still tweaking the settings.
bottom line: it is a great mouse, but it isn't a plug and play type of deal when hooking it up to a 10.7 mac os. By the time it does get to where it need to be, the next os x will already be out...so, we'll have to wait and see.

    Huge Disappointment

    • Written by from Lillington

Other reviews on this page say that the Logitec Performance Mouse MX works well with Lion, so I ordered the mouse, only to find that the accompanying CD yielded to me only a message saying that the mouse is not compatible with my OS 10.7.4. The message on the CD provided a reference to the Logitech company where presumably I might find a fix for the incompatability; however, I was lost trying to find my way through requests for technical information which I did not know and could not find out. So, I am shipping the mouse back to Apple.

    Best mouse ever!

I've been using mice for 40 years, and this is my favorite. It has great ergonomics, is wireless, uses a common rechargeable AA battery, can be charged via USB, has no lag (like bluetooth mice), has several programmable buttons, and has excellent pointer tracking with the Logitech Darkfield technology. The mouse works great with OS X, Windows, Linux, and all virtual machines I have tried. The Hyper Fast Scrolling is the greatest innovation to mice since the demise of mouse balls.

LOGITECH PERFORMANCE MX MOUSE HAS PROBLEMS WITH MAC LION

    • Written by from Memphis

Mac Lion users should be aware that this mouse has control problems with its scrolling and zooming when updating a Mac to Lion. All other features seem to be OK, but Logitech needs a new driver for Mac Lion.

    Great mouse, BUT...

    • Written by from Pittsburg

i love this mouse. its comfortable, lots of customization, love how it works on any surface. One of the reasons i went with this mouse was its ability to assign the thumb button to bring up the expose. I HATE that after about maybe a year, the left click has begun to fail to click or gives me an unwanted double click; this happens more than half of the time. I read that this is a common occurrence with Logitech mice. For $100, i expect this mouse to at least last me around 2-3 years! I have since gone back to the apple mouse and been shopping around since. Great mouse but the durability extremely disappointed me.

Simple put the best mouse for graphics of any sort.

    • Written by from Bristol

If you edit photos in lightroom or aperture you know how important a good mouse is. This is the mouse you're looking for believe me. I'm on my second one of these having worn out the right button after 18 months of 9 hour a day use.

This mouse is very accurate and very comfortable, non of that jumping around you used to get. The extra buttons are great easy to program and well located. The range of this mouse is good and it can be used on any surface without issue.

I was looking to see if there is anything new on the market for my replacement but this seems the best currently available so I'm getting another.

Yes it would be better if it were bluetooth as you have to remove the receiver if you want to use it with both an iMac and a macbook pro. Equally it would be great if the scroll wheel moved left and right better but its the best on the market today.

if apple were to use this design shape for a new magic mouse with the touch sensitive pad like an iPhone on top I'd buy it as it would be application relevant and clean from the muck that tends to get picked up, but they don't so there we go.
