    RECOVERY!!!

    • Written by from Yorba linda

I was skeptical of this program because I thought once I wiped my computer clear, not by choice, but by direction of a pro, I didn't think I would be able to get anything back. But to my surprise, most of my docs, pics, and other files were recovered BUT the only thing is they come out as number and letter codes which you don't know what that file is until you enlarge it on your viewer or double click on the file. So going through the 10K + files was not fun but I was just glad I was able to get some files back. Also, once you go through your files, there are some random files which you'll find going through them. Bizarre! Another tedious task was going through every picture and renaming them to the appropriate folder, but I suppose getting those memories back is priceless. Thanks Apple Support Managers for helping me out through this process... I almost died when I saw I had nothing on my Mac except the initial apps you get when you buy a new Mac.

Just the best!!! It recovered "secured empty trash"

    • Written by from LOS ANGELES

I got this a few years ago and only used it once until last week for the second time. But it's is worthy.

I had to use it and it did recovered files that were rewritten multiple times and even going in the command line on Mac isn't the solution.
Some types of files aren't supposed to be recovered that's why you use secure empty but this software is out of this world.
It goes so low in the hierarchy that it actually can accomplish this kind of tasks.
Companies charges often $2000 for data recovery, so this is a bargain -

I don't usually post positive reviews because when you buy something it supposedly works so I rate if there's problems but when a product is so well done then I feel like I have to leave a review at least to thanks this team of engineers that programed an amazing tool.
In app. graphics and navigation are great as well.

I don't buy software generally but this one I did because it's like having at least one screwdriver in your house when you aren't a handy man, you just got to have one :))

    great product

I had stuck a hard drive into a RAID array not intending for it to be part of the RAID array, and despite telling it not to format it, the RAID system (of course) began writing onto it although I stopped it pretty quickly. However, my computer could not read from this HD afterwards. This program was recommended to me by a techie. But being unsure whether to spend $99 for something that may or may not work, I wrote to the Sales team, which responded very quickly and recommended running the demo version in the Deep Scan mode. It worked and was so easy to use! I bought the full version and was able to download all the files from that HD. I can't recommend this product highly enough!

Date Rescue 3 saved my bacon!

    • Written by from Meadville

    1) Their website is awesome
Data Rescue 3 was not the first software I looked at. But your website did exactly what it needed to do for your target audience; it gave me piece of mine. The FAQs and support page for Data Rescue 3 were useful and obviously someone had put in that extra bit of effort (screenshots, clear steps) to make it a valuable resource. Your website was the real differentiator for me.

    2) Providing a fully functional demo version is smart business.
But you already knew that. With this kind of software it was important to me that it worked and more importantly showed me it worked before purchasing. I ran the scan, recovered a file, saw the others I wanted, and then making the purchase was a no-brainer. It was the best $99 I’ve spent in a long time.

    3) The customer support was incredibly helpful even before I made the purchase.
I had a rough time making the bootable DVD via an even older iMac. I called the tech support bright and early Monday morning and the gentlemen I spoke to was patient, knowledgeable, and very anxious to solve my problem. That is more rare than you know. Please buy this gentlemen a beer!

I’m recovering my data right now and then I’ll do a clean install of Mavericks. Problem solved, crisis averted, and I’ll recommend your products whenever I can. I thank you!

Fantastic software! Does what it says on the tin

    • Written by from Fareham

Used DR3 recently as I had managed to format my storage disk in error which contained irreplaceable pictures. By using this software, which was VERY easy to use, I managed to recover ALL of it quickly and simply.

DR3 is VERY competitively priced over its rivals and, in my own experience, did EXACTLY what it claimed to do. Cannot fault it and would recommend it to anyone requiring data recovery software.

Also, the guys at Pro Soft were very helpful when I needed some assistance after losing my product key. Top support and very quick to respond too!!

    World class product!!

Mega jar - data loss on an usb-stick

    • Written by

    A couple of days ago:
Mega jar - my Macbook can not anymore read an usb-stick with documents, on which I work since a month and a half ...
Supermega shock - getting aware, that no back up of the data exists ...

Of course I checked immediately all recovering tools advertised on the web, and I took notice of RESCUE3, developed of a little start up in California. What they wrote about their tool sounded good to me - I downloaded the demo, run a test scan successfully and purchased the full version. So here is my tiny recovering-report:

For a start I scanned my damaged 2GB USB-Stick by means of the tool and it could read the usb-stick and additionally find and recover within a couple of minutes abaout 80% of all files. And - fortunately among them were the ones of capital importance. Uff. (A little bit luck in addition is needful!)
Then I created a clone and repeated the procedure (funny to watch the gadget in between, but it is not in a pitch, isn’t it ...?) with a comparable result.

Amazingly a lot of folders has been restored fully - including all documents with title and the original formatting.
Some titled folders were completely empty.
Some documents were not openable what with unreadable doctypes or other not specified reason.
Some documents were featuring a strange suffix completely unknown to me and my Macbook -:)
Many „DS_Store“ docs, of course. And some docs seemed to be multiply duplicated.
Now there are still about 400 untitled but completely restored docs left in an untitled folder which I have to check in addition.
But the most important docs were found and resorted. So - luck is back!

    Résumé:
Right down the line Rescue3 is easy to handle, it is results-producing and I am content having purchased the tool, it is worth its price. And, noteworthy, the customer account manager who advided me, acted very responsible towards the matter, showed up patience and was much help to me!

Thanks to the great developers in California

    INVALUABLE PIECE OF SOFTWARE

    • Written by from Sevenoaks

After I had deleted a large number of Entourage emails by mistake, Data Rescue trawled my hard drive and recovered almost all of them - I was very relieved.
It's simple to use, no technical knowledge required, and it worked very well.

A great product and company - Apple should recommend it

    • Written by from Wilmington

On a Friday night, as I prepared to update the OS on my older Apple Mac Pro, I decided to back up my USER folder/files. The software I used didn't clearly indicate that choosing a destination hard drive meant that drive would be wiped clean...it was. The 150 GB of mostly video files (HD and DV), stored on a 2 TB internal hard drive, was GONE, with only the cloned USER folder/files now on the drive.

After loud expressions of frustration, I began to seek a recovery solution, not sure if that meant a service or DIY via software. My search led me to ProSoft and Data Rescue 3, which clearly stood out from similar products, particularly for Apple owners. It appeared to be a good fit, so I downloaded the "trial" version, installed it and ran a Deep Scan, which indicated there were many, many files that could be reconstructed.

I ordered the "full" version on Saturday for Monday delivery and by Monday night the majority of my lost files were recovered and reconstructed. Granted, there are some things about the way the files were restored that I'm not thrilled with...and a few of the larger HD video files (several GB each) were not recovered at all. But the bulk of my files were rescued and my peace of mind restored.

Thanks ProSoft, for Data Rescue and your support team. If I may suggest, look into how DR3 restores DV video and other files (thousands of small pieces), to see if there's a way to get them back in a more "complete" form. QT and MPEG files seem to return in tact, it's the DV files that I had problems with. Even so, I am thankful for Data Rescue 3 and recommend it.

The best Mac data recovery software I've found yet

    • Written by from Toronto

I've tried three...Stellar Phoenix, VirtualLab Data Recovery and Data Rescue 3. Stellar was useless...recovered thousands of jpegs...couldn't open 1% of them...all corrupted. VirtualLab 'recovered' tens of thousands of photos that actually weren't deleted...it did not find more than a handful of actually deleted photos. Finally, in a last ditch effort, I tried and purchased Data Rescue 3. The one critical folder I deleted and absolutely had to recover had 598 photos in it...Data Rescue 3 perfectly recovered 597 of them...that's the absolute best I can expect and I didn't even use the deep scan option. A brilliant product and well worth the price. Highly recommended!

    A Long Term Friend!

    • Written by from Silver Spring

Used Data Rescue for almost 10 years now and it's not only brought me more hugs and cookies than any other program, but it's saved gigs of my (and my family's) data.

When your hard drives wears out, Data Rescue will let you pull what you need (if you can!), replace it, and keep stepping. I've done full restores at least 6 times and a couple dozen partials and each time I've saved data that I would have regretted losing for years if not the rest of my life. Worth every penny ... for the relief, for the smiles.

In addition, the customer service has been second to none (except maybe AppleCare?, nah). They always email me back with a few hours and have taken care of me while traveling Europe and Asia. Always provided the links and the instruction to allow me to pick up and take off. Very grateful for companies like this.

One days I could just not start my iMac. Thanks to ProSoft I was able to identify the HDD was failing... (too many bad sectors), cloned the drive before complete failure, then recovered all the data I wanted.

Oh... and the customer service was second to none for a newbie to Macs like me. Quick responses, very patient and knowledgeable, and held my hand to the end.

    Thoroughly recommended.

    Close but no cigar

    • Written by from Vancouver

While amazing in it's ability to recover files, the files it recovers seem to be renamed in such a manner as to be completely useless for my purpose. It recovered hundreds of video files but even if I recovered them, reconstructing a video timeline with clips with no names is literally impossible. Other than that, great job.

My RAID system died in a way that I could not just swap disks out... Years of critical data was at risk, so the investment seemed worthwhile. Pre-sales support were very helpful and got me going with a demo to prove it would work, needless to say I got all my data back without a hitch.

    Great Product, Great Customer Service

    • Written by from Newberry Springs

Long story short, I accidentally deleted my iMac desktop and, after reboot, all my applications were unusable and my customer folders (I'm a graphic designer) were empty---and none of it was in the trash! And yada, yada, yada, I hadn't backed up my files for 6 months.

The ProSoft website has a very long list of programs recognized by Data Rescue 3, which included my graphic design programs, so I downloaded the Data Rescue 3 demo program and ran a deep scan. It took a number of hours to scan the 1TB hard drive. After the scan was completed, a ton of files were retrieved. Unfortunately, the files no longer had their names, or creation dates, but they were numbered and sorted by program and dated the day of the rescue. Yikes! (This is no fault of Data Rescue 3, by the way, as it is a horrible Mac thing with deleted files. If you have a hard drive crash, I believe your files will be retrieved in position with file names, folders, dates, etc. At least this was the case when I have had a hard drive failure and then retrieved files.)

So about 150,000 documents came up that I needed to sort through, and that count didn't even include the thousands upon thousands of desktop documents that also came up. Pretty insane, but it was certainly better than the alternative and a huge relief. You are able to retrieve one document in the demo scan to see how the retrieval works. I retrieved an Indesign file and it opened perfectly, so I purchased the program and began to retrieve the files in order to look through what I had.

Data Rescue 3 found my Adobe (Indesign, Illustrator, Acrobat, Photoshop), Freehand, and QuarkXpress docs. I was also able to retrieve all my emails with their attachments, original dates, etc., which imported into MacMail totally intact.

There are a number of damaged or corrupted files (typical of an event like this) that I cannot open and have no idea what they were. Just as an aside, if you have an issue like this, it is best to use the computer as little as possible after a crash, or a mass deletion as in my case, as you can write over sectors where some of these documents reside and then you will lose them forever.

My accounting, posted to Account Edge, was no where to be found on the initial deep scan, but there is a fantastic feature in Data Rescue 3, called FileIQ, where you can toss a few samples of documents into the menu and then it will scan for like documents. After another deep scan, amazingly, it found my accounting documents. The actual documents themselves were corrupt and would not open, but I backed up my accounting in compressed files every time I posted anything and the majority of those files were salvaged. After decompression, they were in perfect condition, so I only lost about 15 days of accounting I had posted. What a relief that was.

I still have a pretty big mess on my hands with these documents but, as an aside, with Adobe Bridge, I can view all the Adobe documents (the majority of my docs) and Freehand docs as thumbnails to find things, which has been a huge, huge timesaver. I mention it here in case anyone else is retrieving deleted Adobe documents that have lost their identity and hasn't used Adobe Bridge before.

I would not hesitate to recommend this terrific program and the company behind it. This would have been a major catastrophe if I hadn't found Data Rescue 3. If you are looking for a data retrieval program, try the demo scan. You'll be amazed. And once again I learned the hard way to always BACK UP YOUR FILES! Time Machine is also now humming along.

Saved my data on old HDDs!!

    • Written by from Honolulu

I have used this product for more than 10 scans on old Hard Drives, flash drives and when a friend accidentally deleted more than 20GB of data. I have been able to recover files I completely forgot I had; files I had deleted and forgot about, but was very happy to recover; and files that were just hanging out on HDDs from old computers.

I would, without a doubt, recommend this product to anyone who has ever needed to recover something accidentally deleted, or who has old HDDs they want to recover data from. VERY helpful and VERY easy to use (connect, select, scan, recover)!

Downloaded the trial version which enabled me to see what I would be able to rescue. Miracles do happen...

    • Written by from Quincy

I didn't think this kind of rescue was possible. It was a worst case scenario: In my haste to format a 2GB SD card, I accidentally clicked on my 2TB Video drive and hit "erase". BOOM. I had erased thousands of pictures and video's that WERE NOT backed up (let's not even discuss that - it happens)

To make a long story short, I bought Data Rescue 3 and hooked the erased 2 TB drive up to my laptop with a 2TB USB drive and started the program. After an almost 24 hour scan it seemed to find EVERYTHING and more. It found 3.4TBs of info. It was recreating things that hadn't been on the drive for AGES. In another day and a half, it recreated and copied everything I wanted to a new USB drive. I'm still stunned and eternally grateful that this was even possible. Thank you Prosoft. : >
