Never buying any Philips products again...

    • Written by from Orange park

I got this as a replacement for another Philips speaker dock I had that stopped playing my music and kept saying it didn't support my device, which it clearly said it did support on the box. So, I called and they gave me this as a replacement. It had great sound at first and I used it a lot. But now, 4 months later, it makes loud popping noises while playing and theres a lot of static. So, I called again complaining and they said the warranty was up and there was nothing they could do about it. So now all I have a glorified charger... Never buying a Philips product again.

    Great Sound

    • Written by from Madison

I owned a very old speaker docking station that did not support my new iPhone 4s or Nano 6th Gen. I searched around for a new portable speaker system, and this was a good price point with positive reviews. It really is a great little speaker system that charges both devices while on the docking station - that was a must for me in this purchase. It provides a full, rich, room-filling sound. I live in a small space, so an elaborate sound system is not practical. I doubt I will travel with this, but it is good to know that you must extract the batteries after use to prevent it from draining down the battery life. This unit fits the bill for me perfectly! I am very happy with Apple's products, quality and customer support.

    Best bang for the buck!

    • Written by from St-Antoine-Abbe

Could not be happier about this product. The volume settings go from very soft to "wow, that's loud!" Quite and achievement. The bass on it is really surprising, and can be turned up another notch with the DBS switch. I brought it to an ATV competition and it lasted all day and all night in very dusty conditions, without faltering.

I was a little worried at first, because of the small size of the speakers. After listening to it in an Apple Store, I was thrown by the fullness of the sound and how it bested all other speakers in its price range. My best advice is to bring your iPod into an Apple Store and check this product out beside its competitors. I'm betting you'll be getting this little Boombox!

    Golfer's dream

    • Written by from McComb

I got this for my husband for Christmas last year. He takes it with him on the golf course. All the guys love it and have told their wives they want one just like it. The sound is great. We use it in the house as well. Battery last for hours.

delighted - fyi: poor sound with older devices though

    • Written by from Oakland Park

For those who might have given this product a bad review I would check the generation of the device you are using in it. When I first got the speaker-dock home I docked my old iphone just to charge it (a message did come up saying this device was not supported but it charged just fine). I figured I'd play a few tunes while I was updating software on my current iphone - the sound was unremarkable, what you might expect for small portable speakers. Initially I wasn't disappointed exactly I just didn't get what others were talking about as far as the "incredible" sound quality nor did I understand complaints about the bass because I didn't really hear any bass.

Well... then I plugged in my new iphone ...

OMG What a difference! I tried a variety of different music genres and I do notice a bit of difference now when I switch the bass settings so I am not sure what the complaints are about or what others were expecting but I am QUITE HAPPY with this product. Really nice sound for the size of the device.

The only reason I gave it 4 stars because I wish the battery life was a little better.

I bought this so i could listen to my ipod at home and away, as well as boost the speakers from my laptop, and i'm VERY pleased with the results. great sound, great volume, and great looks. If you're looking for some small top of the range speakers, yet very affordable, this is the answer!

does not charge ipod touch 4G

    • Written by from Chicago

the sound is good. This speaker plays with my ipod touch 4G, but does not charge it while playing. I am still looking for a speaker docking system that is compatible with ipod touch 4G. Not yet available in the market? Please let me know if anyone finds it.

    Amazing

    • Written by from Palm Harbor

Incredible was affordable and the sound quality was excellent. Does not fly through batteries and is very lightweight. The sound DOES NOT get fuzzy sounding when you turn up the volume. i would definitely recommend this to a friend.

    Less than expected

    • Written by from Alpharetta

Portable? Yes. Easy? Yes. Great sound? Not exactly. Even with the "dynamic bass booster", the sound on this item is somewhat mono and muffled. If you want something quick and easy, this is a decent buy. I have the high-end headset/ear buds for my iPod and, after using those, this docking unit was a big disappointment on the sound spectrum. Seven years ago, I bought a cheap, desktop CD Player/Radio for $39 and it still has 100 times the sound quality that this docking unit has. If you're looking for true, rich, stereo sound ... save your pennies and buy one of the more expensive, quality units.

    Vibration Sound

    • Written by from Oak Creek

I just bought the Philips SBD7500 Portable Speaker Dock the sound is great when you listen at a quiet volume. It is very portable and comes with a sweet protective cover. I listen to a lot of Rock and I like my volume to be higher as I am going to use it outside during cookouts and tailgating at baseball games but as soon as I turned the volume up I heard an annoying rattling. I tried to figure out where it was coming from and could not. Sadly I'm going to return it and try a different model.

    Great

I just got speaker system last night for by B-day. The sounds is great, very easy to use and charges my touch. So stoked on it. The travel case is very nice, looks like it will protect the speaker system very well. The system is small enough to put anywhere in my house without looking terrible. The bass is very good, I have a lot of recorded shows from tapers and usually the bass is terrible on most speakers, I found with this system there is no problem. I also tried it with some hip hop songs and the speakers kept up with the bass with out bottoming out. I suggest for the price and sound everyone picks this up.

    Dumb Battery ON/OFF Switch Design

    • Written by from Spencer

Although this unit works well, it has a fatal design flaw that any buyer needs to be aware of. When not plugged into AC power and when the unit's power switch is off, the unit still draws significant current from the internal 4 AA batteries. So, these batteries will discharge to nothing in about a week even this the switch OFF. I considered my unit defective and wanted a warranty exchange when I contacted Phillips support but was informed that this battery drain while shut OFF was normal. Dumb, dumb, triple dumb design flaw in my opinion. I was told that I needed to remove one or more of the AA batteries to prevent this drain - if this is necessary, then why even have an ON/OFF switch?

    One word --- AWESOME!!!

    • Written by from Danbury

I was on my 2nd portable player for my ipod touch when I came across this unit at a friends house. I wasn't sold on this because of an amazon review or internet search. What sold me was the sensational sound from this speaker system. I have a surround sound system at home but needed a portable device to workout downstairs among other conveniences. The 2 other devices I bought were inferior and had noise distortion at high volume (yes, I like to listen pretty loud). I can't find one fault with this Philips speaker system --- sounds amazing and looks awesome! If I had 3 thumbs...they'd all be up.

    Dont use the 3.5mm aux-in jack !!!

    • Written by from marietta

    I would've given it 5 stars BUT!!!

Just 30 minutes ago I notices the tip of the metal part of the aux-in jack was missing.
I found it in my iPhone. It's halfway down the hole wedged in good.
So now my phone thinks headphones are in and sound won't come out of the receiver.
I hope I can get this fixed.
It may have been the aux-in I got, but I wouldn't risk using it.

This portable dock for my iPhone and iPod is exactly what I was looking for. It provides great sound so I can listen at my workspace and in my car at a reasonable price. I had tried another brand and found it unsatisfactory and needed to return it because it required inserts for each device and none would fit the iPod. The flexibility of AC and battery is convenient and the size and case is easily portable.
