    Works really well

This product works really well with my Bose system in my '07 Nissan Murano. It unfortunately doesn't come with an audio-in port and the "in-dash" converter is like $200 installed. I'm happy I didn't pay the 2-hundy because this has near cd quality (you need to turn the volume up on your iPod or iPhone to match the volume on your car stereo) for 25 bucks.

Just what I was hoping for!

I was a little skeptical about this product because I had tried a similar cassette adapter a few years ago, and the clicking from the cassette player was all I could hear. But Jon at the Apple store in Hingham MA assured me that he uses the same product and that the sound is amazing. I figured for the price it was worth another shot. I plugged it in while sitting in the parking lot, and my car stereo has never sounded so good! I highly recommend this product-the quality and the price can't be beat.

This is such a terific product! I just got my first car, and unlike my mom's Ford Taurus X, my 2001 Pontiac Grand Am GT doesn't have an auxilary input jack. So, i ordered this and was amazed at the sound quality. It sounds great with my MONSOON audio system.

I bought this over three years ago and it's still going strong. Sounds as good as anything else out of the cassette deck - no static or other noise. I'm very happy not to have to buy a new stereo system for my 2000 Wrangler.

Plugged in the iPod Nano 6th Gen, and the sound is very clear, but NO BASS. We bought two, one for our other car - will try that one and see if there's any difference.

    Not worth it

This worked sporadically at first & then kept popping out of the cassette player even though I knew I had everything positioned correctly.

An email from monster customer service said to: unscrew the four screws that hold the two halves together and reroute the cable so that it exits the cassette adapter to the other side.

Seemed odd to me that I would have to do that because it had worked correctly the first few times I used it. When I followed the directions above, 1: all the gears fell out leaving me no clear idea how to put it back together. 2: the cable doesn't reach to the 'other side'.

This is now a piece of electronic recycle out of warranty.

Don't Buy It You Will Be Disappointed

I had a Sony cassette for my iPod for years. Eventually I started to be able to hear the head cogs rotating. So I researched and went looking for a new one. I bought this one. It worked wonderful for the first month and then I noticed it having volume issues, connection issues, and eventually static that was impossible to get rid of. I ditched this and went to a car stereo sound place and had them put in an aux plug for me. The best decision by far! It wasn't cheap ($250 installed), but will save me wasting money on cassettes that never seem to work properly over a long period of time!

    NOT WORTH YOUR BUCK

I'm very disappointed with this product. The adapter doesn't fit into the headphone jack. I have to jam it into the hole, otherwise the music sounds like static which isn't satisfying to the ears. It's too time consuming to jam and adjust the adapter into the jack. Save your money people and look elsewhere

    Not Worth the Price

Monster, nice cables but their accessories are the same stuff as the $8 variants hanging right next to the fancy black Monster. I've been through 3-4 cassette adaptors in the last 2 years, each lasting for about 6 months until the cable frays or the little plastic gear inside crumbles. Basically this one gets one star for being black & red, cool combination. Another star for working just as well as the random $8 "icassette" varient. Thats it, $8... $25... same thing. Cheers.

    Far Better than FM Transmitters

I have tried several different FM transmitters only to be disappointed of extreme static and always having to change the channel. We went to the apple store this past Saturday after once again searching for a transmitter to play my Iphone music in my car. We decided on the Monster iCarPlay 800 tape transmitter after reading the reviews. I have to say I am thrilled! No more changing stations and static. We live in Jacksonville, FL a good sized city and I can now play my music with no interference and the quality of the sound is awesome! I highly recommend this product if you have a tape deck and are looking to play your music in your car off your iPod or iPhone. You won't be disappointed! I'm lovin it.

    Horrible, Doesn't Last Long

I have this version now and its horrible. The moving parts are visually loose inside the casette. The spinning pieces only move one direction, consequently my tape players eject it often, 3 or 4 times a song. There are short periods of time where it works well, however the previous Monster casettes I had only lasted two or three months. I would recommend the Belkin tape adapter, my last one lasted over a year and half and always worked well.

    Really Improved!

I had an earlier version of this product and like many others noted, the sound quality and "clicking" sound was awful. I was reluctant to try this updated product by Monster given the still mixed reviews, but I'm so glad I did.

This works amazingly well. The sound quality is fantastic, the volume levels are greatly improved, and there is no clicking whatsoever. I would highly recommend the iCarPlay!

    Beware of Auto-Reverse players

    • Written by from Anaheim

63 of 66 people found this useful

Because of the way this unit is built internally, most auto-reverse cassette decks will continually try to reverse direction while "playing". This means your iPod or iPhone audio will drop out repeatedly while the deck switches, making it essentially unusable.

    Ejects itself

Everytime I start to play music it will continue to eject itself from my cassette player. The sound and quality of the music is fine but it ejects itself randomly. Not sure what to do. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

    Thanks

Works Great With My Older Car

What can I say I have an older car with no in-jack for the audio system. This device works great, it does what it's supposed to and does it very well, at a very low cost. Now I can listen to all of my music in my car. I cannot complain, great device, highly recommended.

It works - does what it says

I've got a 10 year old car with only a cassette tape player. This was exactly what I needed to be able to play music from my iPhone 3G. I also tested it with my husband's iPod nano and it works. The sound quality is good, but please note it will vary depending on how good or bad your car stereo is. Also, I noticed that the quality of the mp3 file makes a difference. For music you burned from the CDs, the difference between the smaller lower quality files vs. the larger high quality files is more noticeable on the car stereo than when you listen with ear phones.

I have a 2006 Infiniti FX 35 with bose speakers. I bought a cheeper brand from Target only to realize that the quality sucked. Now with the Monster icarPlay Cassette 800 the sound is almost perfect i can rase the volume to max and still not hear the clicking nor the static from the cassette like my cheaper version. BEST PRODUCT IN MY CAR!

Even though there are quite a few mixed reviews on this product, I decided to order it anyways because I am very familiar with Monster's products and have yet to be disappointed with any of them. The only disappointing thing with my car is that there is no auxiliary input in the Bose system so I had to either go with a FM modulator or a cassette adapter for my iPhone. I decided to go the adapter route because it was much cheaper, and everyone I know who has an FM modulator hates it for some reason or another. I am VERY impressed with the sound from the Monster cassette converter. Its crystal clear and has a great sounding bass. The only advice I would give to people is to turn the volume up on the iPhone/iPod itself. This way you don't have to crank up your stereo so much and will get virtually no feedback or buzzing this way.

    Plays just like CD

I hesitated to purchase this product because there were quite a few negative reviews but I took a chance anyway. I drive an 2001 ML430 and this fitted my casette player fine, plugged the cord into my iphone 4 and it played right away just like my CD player. I also have bose speakers so it just made it much better listening.

I recommend it. For those who it doesn't work so well with I suggest they check their casette players.
