It plays for a fraction of a second, reverses itself and then ejects.

Don't Judge A Book By Its Cover...

    • Written by from Livonia

This iCarPlay Cassette worked really well for the first 3 or so months of using it. What ended up happening, was my radio started to read E10 (I have a 2001 Buick LeSabre, which is still in great condition) which means the cassette became unreadable, and it would eject itself. I tried to fix the error according to the car manual, but no good came of it. I got my car checked out, and turns out, it has nothing to do with my big ol' boat. At first it would happen every so often, but now when I try to use it, it automatically rejects the cassette.

This was a good waste of $25, or however much it runs for. I'm a freshman in college, I don't have that kind of money to blow!

Best solution for cars with no AUX

    • Written by from Austin

I am very particular when it comes to hearing music and so far this product has not disappointed me. I have been using this product for last 6 months with my Bose speaker system on my Audi and it sounds great. One trick worth try if you hear hussy sounds is to keep your IPOD volume locked to maximum and have the car stereo speakers volume as low as possible.

    Poor Audio Quality

    • Written by from Palm Harbor

Tried one of these on my iPhone in a TomTom GPS mount in my 2006 Acura TL. Very poor tonal quality. Adjusting the equalizer settings had no impact. Working with the nice folks at the Tampa Apple Store, I tried a total of 3 with no luck. Went to Radio Shack and bought an inexpensive model and it works great. I found other reviews online with similar results so I don't know if its a quality problem or what.

    worth $400

    • Written by from San Francisco

I've considered swapping my CD changer for an expensive aftermarket iPod iPhone auxiliary unit that would have cost $400+ but this does the trick. Although CD quality or a digital connector would be better sound, but for the money you can't beat this tape-adapter. As far as tape adaptors go this one is far superior. The previous monster tape adapter was lousy compared to this one, this one dosen't seem to have any moving parts inside which made the previous product a piece of junk and sounded terrible. Also this iCarPlay has a reinforced "1/8th inch adapter that plugs into the headphone jack, the old one wasn't and eventually crimped and exposed wire. iPhone sounds great, just keep the volume set around 60% to avoid distortion. I highly recommend this product for a tape-adapter.

FINALLY…using my cassette deck after SEVEN Years!

    • Written by from Texarkana

FINALLY…after SEVEN years, my cassette deck is getting some use! This adapter is working GREAT with my iPhone 3Gs.

AND…YES… IT DOES WORK WITH INTERNET RADIO APPS!! (Pandora, Tuner, etc.) Sound quality is VERY good--much better than FM transmitters-- in my opinion.

ALSO! Allows you to hear callers through car stereo and you can talk hands free on the phone. Great with my GPS app too, which was sometimes hard to hear over car and road noise.

IN SHORT…ANY sound that your iPhone makes, that you would normally hear through earbuds or headphones, will now play through your car's stereo! THANKS Monster!

    Doesn't work with 2001 tacoma

    • Written by from Bessemer

I am normally not a fan of monster products because I feel they are a waste of money. However I bought this product after my original no name cassette adapters cord was cut by my car seat. I decided I would give the monster 800 a try since it has a little higher gauge wire. This device not only feels cheaper made than the 9$ cassette adapter I had previously, it also doesn't work with my vehicle. Very disappointed considering the cost.

    Best Cassette adapter so far

    • Written by from Saratoga

I've tried a number of cassette adapters and this is the only one that I've stuck with. It works and works silently. The other brands I've owned all had an annoying clicking sound when the player is in motion. The iCarPlay is quiet and solidly built.

The sound quality is vastly superior to the FM transmitters that I own as well.

It works - does what it says

    • Written by from Alameda

I've got a 10 year old car with only a cassette tape player. This was exactly what I needed to be able to play music from my iPhone 3G. I also tested it with my husband's iPod nano and it works. The sound quality is good, but please note it will vary depending on how good or bad your car stereo is. Also, I noticed that the quality of the mp3 file makes a difference. For music you burned from the CDs, the difference between the smaller lower quality files vs. the larger high quality files is more noticeable on the car stereo than when you listen with ear phones.

works like it says it will

    • Written by from Lithonia

It works well and for the $25 bucks this is a quick and inexpensive fix. Be aware that if your tape deck has auto reverse it will work well but sometimes the auto reverse will try to kick in. For me it's not a deal breaker because I can listen to my music from my Ipod 3/4 of the time with no challenges and it was priced well.

    Pleased with Monster iCarPlay 800

The sound quality is very good. Great bass tones. I was sceptical at first, but now quite satisfied. Sound is superior to CD player, and price is fair.

I'm also using the iCarPlay 800 with my Acura RSX type S's Bose system.

    • Written by from Racine

Even though there are quite a few mixed reviews on this product, I decided to order it anyways because I am very familiar with Monster's products and have yet to be disappointed with any of them. The only disappointing thing with my car is that there is no auxiliary input in the Bose system so I had to either go with a FM modulator or a cassette adapter for my iPhone. I decided to go the adapter route because it was much cheaper, and everyone I know who has an FM modulator hates it for some reason or another. I am VERY impressed with the sound from the Monster cassette converter. Its crystal clear and has a great sounding bass. The only advice I would give to people is to turn the volume up on the iPhone/iPod itself. This way you don't have to crank up your stereo so much and will get virtually no feedback or buzzing this way.

Rsx type s bose system! Excellent sound!

    • Written by from Panorama City

I have used 6 different cassette adapters over the course of two years and the Sony cassette adapter was the only one that actually sounded good. The rest had buzzing noises or sounded too loud with very limited bass. But Monster really knew how to build this one great. The sound is great and it has great bass too. In some songs you do get the occasional buzzing noise although its not loud. But thats because their an uneven balance between the cars volume and my iphone 3g. In the instructional booklet they mention how to solve this. But with out balancing the cars volume, the overall sound quality blows the doors over the rest of my cassette collection i have compiled over the years. This product is definitely worth the 24 dollar investment.

I only wish I could give it 0 starts.
It works, but quality is terrible. If you listen to rap, it may work for you.

    Beware of Auto-Reverse players

    • Written by from Anaheim

Because of the way this unit is built internally, most auto-reverse cassette decks will continually try to reverse direction while "playing". This means your iPod or iPhone audio will drop out repeatedly while the deck switches, making it essentially unusable.

    Great product/Great support

    • Written by from East Ellijay

This little puppy did exactly what it is suppose to do. I've always liked my car audio system and the device rejuvenated my belief in it. Plus, with the Pod output it really sparkles now.
Oh, yes, the first one I received did not work properly. The system would not stop jumping from continuous play and back. I E mailed the company and they were right back to me the next day. They immediately shipped me a new one (free) and it works just fine. Kudos to their customer service.
