Works better than expected in my 97 Acura RL

    • Written by from Phoenix

I read all these horrible reviews saying it pops out, it has bad static, it breaks. I also understand that we all drive different cars and are subject to different outcomes. So I shelled out a whopping $25 to give it a try. I got in my car, popped the tape in (was already set up correctly for my car) plugged into my iphone5, put the iphone volume at 3/4ths and turned up the car volume. I was shocked how good it sounds. Definitely a good buy for me and excellent sound quality. It just depends on your stock stereo and car make and model. But I lucked out and couldn't be happier.

Ordered one of these for my old car since I HATE listening to the radio. I must tell you that I am quite satisfied. Installation was easy, and the sound quality is great.

    Really Improved!

I had an earlier version of this product and like many others noted, the sound quality and "clicking" sound was awful. I was reluctant to try this updated product by Monster given the still mixed reviews, but I'm so glad I did.

This works amazingly well. The sound quality is fantastic, the volume levels are greatly improved, and there is no clicking whatsoever. I would highly recommend the iCarPlay!

    works better than expected

Audio is nice and clear for this type of adapter, very pleased with how good the ipod sounds in my Honda CR-V. Well worth the money. Good bass and clear highs- slightly lower audio level than other sources but not a big issue.

    Plays just like CD

    • Written by from CHICAGO

I hesitated to purchase this product because there were quite a few negative reviews but I took a chance anyway. I drive an 2001 ML430 and this fitted my casette player fine, plugged the cord into my iphone 4 and it played right away just like my CD player. I also have bose speakers so it just made it much better listening.

I recommend it. For those who it doesn't work so well with I suggest they check their casette players.

this works much better than having to go through a radio station; it sounds just as good as playing a cd.

    This thing has CD quality

    • Written by from BOONE

My daughter has this for her Audi and i thought it sounded OK. I had a FM modulator and it sounded ok,but was a pain because go around a curve and another radio station interrupted. I had seen and bought the Monster iCarplay a few months before I remembered to try it. The first time I used it in my Volvo, I was blown away! I'll probably never buy another CD again! It has CD quality and now, I'm downloading music like crazy from iTunes and every time I get in the car I'm hooking up my iPhone 3GS. I love it and so far have had no problems (and neither has my daughter). I happy that Volvo still put tape players in their cars. Highly recommend

Read car manual & it worked great

    • Written by from Saint Louis

I had a 2003 Chevrolet Impala until a month a go in which I used this product every day. At first it worked fine and then it would pop out on me after a short time of play. I came back to this site and reread the reviews and found one where the buyer suggested reading the car manual. After doing this, I learned that for my car I had to turn the stereo off, push in the Aux button, and wait for the Ready light then I could put the tape in and connect my iPhone. After that, no issues. I just gave it to my daughter's boyfriend who drives a later model Ford Taurus and he just told me it keeps popping out on him. I guess the success of this player will be determined by your car's stereo, but I do recommend reading your car's owner's manual before completely giving up.

Best solution for cars with no AUX

    • Written by from Austin

I am very particular when it comes to hearing music and so far this product has not disappointed me. I have been using this product for last 6 months with my Bose speaker system on my Audi and it sounds great. One trick worth try if you hear hussy sounds is to keep your IPOD volume locked to maximum and have the car stereo speakers volume as low as possible.

    worth $400

    • Written by from San Francisco

I've considered swapping my CD changer for an expensive aftermarket iPod iPhone auxiliary unit that would have cost $400+ but this does the trick. Although CD quality or a digital connector would be better sound, but for the money you can't beat this tape-adapter. As far as tape adaptors go this one is far superior. The previous monster tape adapter was lousy compared to this one, this one dosen't seem to have any moving parts inside which made the previous product a piece of junk and sounded terrible. Also this iCarPlay has a reinforced "1/8th inch adapter that plugs into the headphone jack, the old one wasn't and eventually crimped and exposed wire. iPhone sounds great, just keep the volume set around 60% to avoid distortion. I highly recommend this product for a tape-adapter.

It works - does what it says

    • Written by from Alameda

I've got a 10 year old car with only a cassette tape player. This was exactly what I needed to be able to play music from my iPhone 3G. I also tested it with my husband's iPod nano and it works. The sound quality is good, but please note it will vary depending on how good or bad your car stereo is. Also, I noticed that the quality of the mp3 file makes a difference. For music you burned from the CDs, the difference between the smaller lower quality files vs. the larger high quality files is more noticeable on the car stereo than when you listen with ear phones.

The sound quality is very good. Great bass tones. I was sceptical at first, but now quite satisfied. Sound is superior to CD player, and price is fair.

I'm also using the iCarPlay 800 with my Acura RSX type S's Bose system.

Even though there are quite a few mixed reviews on this product, I decided to order it anyways because I am very familiar with Monster's products and have yet to be disappointed with any of them. The only disappointing thing with my car is that there is no auxiliary input in the Bose system so I had to either go with a FM modulator or a cassette adapter for my iPhone. I decided to go the adapter route because it was much cheaper, and everyone I know who has an FM modulator hates it for some reason or another. I am VERY impressed with the sound from the Monster cassette converter. Its crystal clear and has a great sounding bass. The only advice I would give to people is to turn the volume up on the iPhone/iPod itself. This way you don't have to crank up your stereo so much and will get virtually no feedback or buzzing this way.

Rsx type s bose system! Excellent sound!

    • Written by from Panorama City

I have used 6 different cassette adapters over the course of two years and the Sony cassette adapter was the only one that actually sounded good. The rest had buzzing noises or sounded too loud with very limited bass. But Monster really knew how to build this one great. The sound is great and it has great bass too. In some songs you do get the occasional buzzing noise although its not loud. But thats because their an uneven balance between the cars volume and my iphone 3g. In the instructional booklet they mention how to solve this. But with out balancing the cars volume, the overall sound quality blows the doors over the rest of my cassette collection i have compiled over the years. This product is definitely worth the 24 dollar investment.

    Great product/Great support

This little puppy did exactly what it is suppose to do. I've always liked my car audio system and the device rejuvenated my belief in it. Plus, with the Pod output it really sparkles now.
Oh, yes, the first one I received did not work properly. The system would not stop jumping from continuous play and back. I E mailed the company and they were right back to me the next day. They immediately shipped me a new one (free) and it works just fine. Kudos to their customer service.

My late model Acura CL cassette player was spitting out a competing adapter. The Monster sits in there very happily and the sound to above average..

I tried other adaptors that didn't work. This one works perfectly, even on the original iPhone, which is what I have. In fact, I think the sound is better than the actual CDs. No problems to report!

    An Excellent Product

    • Written by from Thousand Oaks

I cannot speak highly enough of the Monster cassette adapter. I have an older Bose system in my Corvette that I don't want to replace. The sound is great but, unfortunately, it does not an auxiliary feature so I haven't been able to use my iPhone with it. I have tried other cassette adapters but they all produced a noticeable hiss while playing. I was blown out of the water when I inserted the Monster 800. The sound was better than my CD player (although this may be the result of an electrical issue with my car). The sound was clear and, frankly, amazing. I was just about reconciled to getting rid of my Bose and buying an aftermarket system, but for $24, I am now able to use iPods and my iPhone and get the most out of my current system. One thing, though. Make sure you get the 800 model. I read reviews elsewhere that earlier models produced hiss. This model, on the other hand, has received very positive reviews.
