Works better than expected in my 97 Acura RL

    • Written by from Phoenix

I read all these horrible reviews saying it pops out, it has bad static, it breaks. I also understand that we all drive different cars and are subject to different outcomes. So I shelled out a whopping $25 to give it a try. I got in my car, popped the tape in (was already set up correctly for my car) plugged into my iphone5, put the iphone volume at 3/4ths and turned up the car volume. I was shocked how good it sounds. Definitely a good buy for me and excellent sound quality. It just depends on your stock stereo and car make and model. But I lucked out and couldn't be happier.

    Poor audio quality

    • Written by from Santa Fe

I'm not very impressed by this product. It makes a relatively loud noise in the cassette deck, and there is a slight constant static noise over the speakers. The audio quality it's self is weak at best. I wouldn't recommend this product.

    Really didn't work

    • Written by from Porterville

I bought this to go with my new iPhone 5 because my old radio transmitter can't work with it (thanks Apple). The very first time using it was on my way home. The drive take about 25 minutes. This product stopped working 5 times. Stopped working as in stopped playing and wouldn't resume. I had to eject the cassette then put it back in. 5 times. While on my way home. This is a stupid thing. But props the the marketing team, they made a hunk of junk look pretty good. I wouldn't say don't buy it, but I can't recommend it.

    Works like it should!

Ordered one of these for my old car since I HATE listening to the radio. I must tell you that I am quite satisfied. Installation was easy, and the sound quality is great.

    Dissapointed a bit

    • Written by from Kissimmee

This was really cheap, and if you can get the cord to stay in the phone, the music is not bad (for what this thing cost) but my cord will not stay in the phone. I have a Iphone5 with a Otterbox case, and I'm not sure if the case causes it or not, too much trouble to remove the case so haven't tried that yet, but even so I doubt I would remove it just for the music. It's a great idea and glad it works for a lot of others, but not sure I'll use it much due to the cord popping out in the middle of songs.

    NOT WORTH YOUR BUCK

    • Written by from Orlando

I'm very disappointed with this product. The adapter doesn't fit into the headphone jack. I have to jam it into the hole, otherwise the music sounds like static which isn't satisfying to the ears. It's too time consuming to jam and adjust the adapter into the jack. Save your money people and look elsewhere

    Very happy with this

    • Written by from williston

I bought this over three years ago and it's still going strong. Sounds as good as anything else out of the cassette deck - no static or other noise. I'm very happy not to have to buy a new stereo system for my 2000 Wrangler.

    No bass

    • Written by from Makawao

Plugged in the iPod Nano 6th Gen, and the sound is very clear, but NO BASS. We bought two, one for our other car - will try that one and see if there's any difference.

    Not worth it

    • Written by from Sebastopol

This worked sporadically at first & then kept popping out of the cassette player even though I knew I had everything positioned correctly.

An email from monster customer service said to: unscrew the four screws that hold the two halves together and reroute the cable so that it exits the cassette adapter to the other side.

Seemed odd to me that I would have to do that because it had worked correctly the first few times I used it. When I followed the directions above, 1: all the gears fell out leaving me no clear idea how to put it back together. 2: the cable doesn't reach to the 'other side'.

This is now a piece of electronic recycle out of warranty.

No Better Than Old Sony Cassette Adapter

    • Written by from Aliso Viejo

I was getting really bad feedback trying to listen to calls on my brand new iPhone 4s. I bought this, thinking it would help on the advice of Sprint Customer Service. It didn't. It was the same problem. I compared the Monster to my old Sony cassette adapter and was really disappointed. It sounds no better than the Sony, despite Monster's reputation. I have a pair of their earbuds and they're great. This...it's okay. And it was about $10 less at Target, so it does the job, it's just nothing special.

    Really Improved!

    • Written by from San Francisco

I had an earlier version of this product and like many others noted, the sound quality and "clicking" sound was awful. I was reluctant to try this updated product by Monster given the still mixed reviews, but I'm so glad I did.

This works amazingly well. The sound quality is fantastic, the volume levels are greatly improved, and there is no clicking whatsoever. I would highly recommend the iCarPlay!

    Inflated price for deflated performance

    • Written by from San Rafael

Good news: The small stereo jack fits my iPhone 4S through the tiny cutout in my phone case.
Bad news: The low frequency hum that others have remarked on is enormously annoying, particularly at low music volumes or during speech.
I expected more from Monster - after all, they're all about quality connectivity, no? I exchanged the first adaptor thinking that maybe it was defective. 2nd one is just as bad. So sad...

    Ok at first

    • Written by from east windsor

Well i bought the Monster Icarplay cassette not too long ago and the only reason i bought that exact one was because it was the only one they had in target well when i popped it in my (2000 honda cr-v) car i was pretty impressed with the sound. However the next day the sound would switch either on the right side of the car or left side plus the volume would lower and raise itself by itself it was definitely not worth the money

    Not Worth the Price

    • Written by from Concord

Monster, nice cables but their accessories are the same stuff as the $8 variants hanging right next to the fancy black Monster. I've been through 3-4 cassette adaptors in the last 2 years, each lasting for about 6 months until the cable frays or the little plastic gear inside crumbles. Basically this one gets one star for being black & red, cool combination. Another star for working just as well as the random $8 "icassette" varient. Thats it, $8... $25... same thing. Cheers.

    Changes the sound

With the griffin cassette player the bass was great in my car, then i bought this one and the sound is completely different and there is hardly any bass at all.

    works better than expected

Audio is nice and clear for this type of adapter, very pleased with how good the ipod sounds in my Honda CR-V. Well worth the money. Good bass and clear highs- slightly lower audio level than other sources but not a big issue.

Don't Buy It You Will Be Disappointed

    • Written by from Huntington Beach

I had a Sony cassette for my iPod for years. Eventually I started to be able to hear the head cogs rotating. So I researched and went looking for a new one. I bought this one. It worked wonderful for the first month and then I noticed it having volume issues, connection issues, and eventually static that was impossible to get rid of. I ditched this and went to a car stereo sound place and had them put in an aux plug for me. The best decision by far! It wasn't cheap ($250 installed), but will save me wasting money on cassettes that never seem to work properly over a long period of time!

    Horrible, Doesn't Last Long

    • Written by from Frankfort

I have this version now and its horrible. The moving parts are visually loose inside the casette. The spinning pieces only move one direction, consequently my tape players eject it often, 3 or 4 times a song. There are short periods of time where it works well, however the previous Monster casettes I had only lasted two or three months. I would recommend the Belkin tape adapter, my last one lasted over a year and half and always worked well.

    Ejects itself

    • Written by from Apple Valley

Everytime I start to play music it will continue to eject itself from my cassette player. The sound and quality of the music is fine but it ejects itself randomly. Not sure what to do. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

    Thanks
