The Sims 3
Deeply infatuating, highly amazing
Written by TW from Grand Rapids

I ended up skipping right from The Sims, ie, the original release, to The Sims 3, never getting to play the second version. I don't think I ever will be able to, either, considering how absolutely amazing this game is. I *love* it, and, although it took a while for me to pick up on the controls, especially as I was using a new Macbook laptop and so I had to learn them with a trackpad I wasn't even used to yet, I did pick it up with sufficient efficiency, and now can play the game easily, simply on instinct.
The graphics are *amazing*, and I think the way they designed the trait system is brilliant, somehow being both quite versatile, and easy to understand. The amount of customization is awesome, although at times overwhelming, and, if you get too elaborate (as I often do), you could spend hours fine-tuning the *perfect* sim, or creating the *perfect* house. Thankfully, though, if you don't want to do that, they have plenty of pre-made sims, pre-made houses, or simpler ways to create your own. I just, you know, get way too into things..
My friend is already addicted to it, just from playing from time to time on my computer. Though, I do worry about that a little, as, I got my computer only a short while before the game was originally released, and, since she's running a pretty old (PC), and the game looks so hardcore, there's a good chance it won't work. Plus she needs to buy a DVD drive.
Regardless, this game is fantastically amazingly awesome, and I cannot wait for the World Adventures expansion to be released~43 of 47 people found this useful

This game ROX!

Ok, so I love the Sims.
Pros: The Sims 3 is so AMAZING. You can make a Sim of yourself, and it actually looks like you!! There are more traits to pick, and the Sims have Lifetime Wishes and they have free will, so when you don't play with them, they take care of themselves. But one of my favorite things is that you get to customise everything. Basically everything is so lifelike that you will get sucked into the Sims for so long.
Cons: It uses a lot of battery, so always have your computer plugged into a power source to keep the fun going.43 of 50 people found this useful

Love it, but it will take your time, and battery too!

I bought Sims 3 right when it came out. Unfortunately I didn't read the fine print, that it didn't work with Tiger, which is the operating system on my old macbook. REAL BUMMER! So it was another 3 months before I could actually play the game on my new macbook pro. And no, I didn't get the new computer just so I could play the game. There were other reason. Although I did have extra ram put in so that there would be no question of the Sims freezing, as other laptop users have reported. Now I happily waste my time controlling the lives of computer people, and I love it! unfortunately it does drain the battery rather fast, but oh well.

The Sims 3
Seriously? Best Game Ever.

I've played the previous sims games before, and they were pretty great. I finally caved and bought myself sims 3. I am addicted. It's amazing gameplay, nice graphics, tons of customization, and more. You are totally in charge. Make the walls of your house brick, siding, or zebra stripes. Why not make your car lime green polka dots? My favorite parts are the create-a-sim and build mode. You can make a sim that pretty much looks like anyone you want. Customize everything. The houses is great. I love interior design, it's one of my hobbies, and sims 3 just won me over with houses. Make three story 20-roomed mansions, or small, 1 story cottages. The tools are awesome. And you can give your Sim a lifetime wish, helping them choose good paths to get there. It's great. I say, go buy it :)

So i got this game yesterday and i was soooo happy. I installed it and then when i tried to make a sims the sims was all black and all u can see is their eyes and hair. I did make a sim. after u are done it shows u what they look like and i did ok but my favorite part of the game is making the sims and decorating the house. I am so bummed that i cant make them.. im glade i didnt spend $50 on this game and got it cheeper from someone else, When im playing the game everything else is fine except the hair. it looks messed up in the picture and if u zoom in it gets messed up. I think i like the sims 2 better. atleaseast they have weather and u can go on vacation and send ur teen to college when u dont what to deal with them anymore lol

Worst game ever!
Written by AC from Folsom
Aug 27, 2009
This is the worst game I have ever played. It is slow even on a 2.13ghz macbook air, with 2GB of memory. The computer also overheats and slows down everytime I play, making it even slower and harder to play. No online connection, so like you can't talk to friends in real life on the sims or anything.
Your just in a town full of computer sims and thats all u do build live waste time.
Don't buy this. Not worth the money.21 of 90 people found this useful

Almost Like PC Version
Written by CC from Detroit

It's just like the PC version except, you can't right click, the normal way.
You have to do it the mac way. I have a macbook white.
You also should change the screen settings, to make it wider.15 of 29 people found this useful

Fun for all ages

Been looking forward to this game and I must say I'm very happy with my purchase. Not much of a gamer here, but I found myself sitting for hours on this game. Highly addicting. The only Con is that I wished there was some online gameplay included. In all honesty, I think this game is aimed towards the newer Macs because it would refuse to run on both my older Powerbook and Mac. Overall Sims 3 is an excellent life simulator game with a high replay value. Forget all the bad reviews, The Sims 3 is a must-have. (DO TAKE THE SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS SERIOUSLY)

The Sims 3
Good, especially if you're planning on frying eggs
Written by SW from Edina

The Sims franchise has always been successful ever since the start, we all know that. As some of the largest selling games in history, each consecutive game has been improved drastically as developers came up with new additions such as pets and the weather. Of course, The Sims 3 is certainly no exception to the incredible improvements. As many have already commented on the vast neighborhood and possibly one of the best gameplay experiences in a long time, I thought that I'd comment on how hot it makes the computer run. We all know that Macs, especially MacBook Pros (of which I own one) get fairly hot using even the simplest applications such as Safari. As such, this game creates a whole new playing field, in which the game not only maxes out the graphics card and processor, but in simpler terms, makes this thing practically burn the legs and the computer to be at a mighty dangerous temperature. In essence, this is most likely a game that is meant to play on a desk. This is a highly advanced and CPU-intensive game that is quite fun in its many features, but it is strongly recommended that one try coolers and anything else that could make this computer play at a much safer temperature and prevent the Mac from possible damage from high temps.

THIS IS THE BEST GAME EVER!
Written by KG
Jul 27, 2009
So I bought this game yesterday, and gave up 20 bucks to my dad for it. And it was SO worth it. I have Sims 2, and loved that, but you had to spend to much time like doing normal everyday stuff. But in this you can custemize everything (clothes, hair, body type, personality, pools, fruniture, and many more things). In this game, they made everything I wished they had in the last one, like more distinct people, more room for creativity, more personality, more stuff in general (clothes, fruniture, outdoors stuff, and more). And one huge plus is that everything is much, much more realistic. Like lighting, the people in general, and the fruniture. So, in general, this game is much better than the last one, and is worth the 50 dollars.

I absolutely love this game. I play it almost everyday. The graphics are amazing and the game really is seamless. I play on my aluminum 13" macbook, and I must say, that I have yet to encounter ONE problem. This game is worth every penny.

I was not ready for the eye popping and sizzling fast graphics on my IPhone. Blew me away. I Played with it for two hours and loved it so much, I went out and got the DVD for my IMac as well... Awesome game at any price! I am hoping that Maxis allows the end users to make their own objects and import them as needed. That would make this the best game of all time IMHO..... GameOn~

While the transition from the Sims 2 to the Sims 3 was not as large as the transition from the Sims 1 to Sims 2, the sims 3 still manages to astound me. The graphics far surpass those of the Sims 2, and the interactions between people have dramatically changed for the better. I would definitely recommend getting the Sims 3!
