This game is graphically amazing. I have never seen anything more beautiful in my life. The outside world is spacious, fun, and free! I would suggest this game for anyone, especially a casual gamer.

    Brilliant!

This game takes the Sims to the next level and delivers an experience that will not disappoint. There is a new perspective on the game simply by opening up beyond the typical "lot" environment. It is easy to get lost in all of the new features and customizable appearances.

You will find yourself taking notice of the little things like the ability to modify your sims personalities and the challenges are less of a hassle in this game. Though I have not tested the game with the integrated X3100 graphics card. The newer macbook's graphics card works very well and this game is defiantly something to put in your cart.

    Sims3 on Mini Mac

This game runs like a champ and is so much fun! One note though, you need to turn off Time machine while playing as it will kick you out unexpectantly when it backs up hourly. Just click on the time machine icon and slide the control to off. Leave it open on your desktop so that when you exit Sims, you will see it and remember to turn it back on.

this game is good, if you dont have a macbook. Here is what doesnt work: the sims dont show up, the graphics are terrible, loading takes forever. But, on a macbook pro it work tip top. My macbook meets ALL the specifications + extra ram but STILL doesnt work!

    Less than stellar...

I bought this thinking that the game would work & would be compatible with my 2 year old Macbook. Boy, was I wrong!

If you have a Macbook 2 years or older, DON'T EVEN BOTHER! On the back of the Sims 3 game's box, it says nothing about the 950 GMA Intel graphics processor not being compatible with the game. But it does on the Apple Store website. This was totally misleading and completely inconvenient because now I'm down $50.

Without the updates graphics processor, while making a Sim, nothing can be seen except their eyes and hair. The rest of their body is merely a black silhouette. What's the fun in making a Sim if you can't even see what you're doing!? Plus, when playing the game, the graphics are cloudy & the game itself is slow. Also, certain floor patterns show up as black silhouettes as well. For anyone that has played the Sims 2, this is very similar to the dreaded blinking blue objects for when items are missing or can't be understood by the game. Basically, IT IS A NUISANCE.

And there's no way to update the old Intel GMA 950 graphics processor, unless you want to dish out $1000 for a new Macbook with the updated graphic processor. Totally bummer and a letdown.

If you don't have the right Macbook, with the right specs, don't even bother. Wait until EA figures out how to fix this or a newer version comes out.

    Great

Once you get the hang of the less-than-obvious controls -- which are pretty significantly different from the sims 2 -- this game is fun and easy to play. The new create-a-sim features are absolutely fabulous, although I wish there were more hairstyles to choose from. Choosing traits and favorites is new and a great addition. I think it's a little confusing when you get to the "moving in" stage, because in the instructions it says you can move the sims into an unfurnished house, but I couldn't figure out how to do that.
Actual playing is very similar, although social interactions are reorganized. I like all the new furniture but wish there could be more. The major difference is that your sims can walk, bike, or drive downtown to any store without loading time, and you can simultaneously play your shopping sim and the sim who's still at home.
Also, I have a macbook, the newest 13", and it works absolutely fine on mine. If you're worried about memory, don't be -- mine has the sims 2 and almost all the expansion packs still loaded, and it works fine. It does start running pretty fast - and loud - after awhile, but as long as you save pretty often, you should be fine.
All in all this feels like all the good parts of sims 2, with a bunch of things added that really needed to be added.
P.s. I can't figure out how to put in a fireplace - is that even an option?

I'm surprised to read that so many people are having problems running this game. My 2GB Macbook White with less than 50 GB memory available runs it beautifully on medium graphic settings. I'm a colossal nerd and have played for up to eight hours at a stretch without the game crashing on me. It's definitely worth the money.

    Seriously? Best Game Ever.

I've played the previous sims games before, and they were pretty great. I finally caved and bought myself sims 3. I am addicted. It's amazing gameplay, nice graphics, tons of customization, and more. You are totally in charge. Make the walls of your house brick, siding, or zebra stripes. Why not make your car lime green polka dots? My favorite parts are the create-a-sim and build mode. You can make a sim that pretty much looks like anyone you want. Customize everything. The houses is great. I love interior design, it's one of my hobbies, and sims 3 just won me over with houses. Make three story 20-roomed mansions, or small, 1 story cottages. The tools are awesome. And you can give your Sim a lifetime wish, helping them choose good paths to get there. It's great. I say, go buy it :)

Been looking forward to this game and I must say I'm very happy with my purchase. Not much of a gamer here, but I found myself sitting for hours on this game. Highly addicting. The only Con is that I wished there was some online gameplay included. In all honesty, I think this game is aimed towards the newer Macs because it would refuse to run on both my older Powerbook and Mac. Overall Sims 3 is an excellent life simulator game with a high replay value. Forget all the bad reviews, The Sims 3 is a must-have. (DO TAKE THE SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS SERIOUSLY)

    Deeply infatuating, highly amazing

I ended up skipping right from The Sims, ie, the original release, to The Sims 3, never getting to play the second version. I don't think I ever will be able to, either, considering how absolutely amazing this game is. I *love* it, and, although it took a while for me to pick up on the controls, especially as I was using a new Macbook laptop and so I had to learn them with a trackpad I wasn't even used to yet, I did pick it up with sufficient efficiency, and now can play the game easily, simply on instinct.

The graphics are *amazing*, and I think the way they designed the trait system is brilliant, somehow being both quite versatile, and easy to understand. The amount of customization is awesome, although at times overwhelming, and, if you get too elaborate (as I often do), you could spend hours fine-tuning the *perfect* sim, or creating the *perfect* house. Thankfully, though, if you don't want to do that, they have plenty of pre-made sims, pre-made houses, or simpler ways to create your own. I just, you know, get way too into things..

My friend is already addicted to it, just from playing from time to time on my computer. Though, I do worry about that a little, as, I got my computer only a short while before the game was originally released, and, since she's running a pretty old (PC), and the game looks so hardcore, there's a good chance it won't work. Plus she needs to buy a DVD drive.

Regardless, this game is fantastically amazingly awesome, and I cannot wait for the World Adventures expansion to be released~

Ok, so I love the Sims.

Pros: The Sims 3 is so AMAZING. You can make a Sim of yourself, and it actually looks like you!! There are more traits to pick, and the Sims have Lifetime Wishes and they have free will, so when you don't play with them, they take care of themselves. But one of my favorite things is that you get to customise everything. Basically everything is so lifelike that you will get sucked into the Sims for so long.

Cons: It uses a lot of battery, so always have your computer plugged into a power source to keep the fun going.

Great Game but tailored towards new Macs

    Written by KS from Denver

The game is awesome and highly addictive. I only gave it a four because of its high system requirements. I currently have a year old black macbook with a 2.4 GHZ duo core processor, 4 GB of RAM, 144 MB of VRAM, a 250 GB hard drive, and 43 GB free hard drive space. All exceed the min requirements, however the game runs very slow. This is most likely due to the video card, which barely beats the 128 MB of VRAM requirement. If you have a macbook older then about a year you probably only have 64 MB of VRAM and this will not run on your machine. You definitely need at least 144 MB of VRAM, but I would recommend 256 MB or better. I tried it on the newer Macs and it runs smooth with great graphics. If you have any new Mac get this game!

When I first played the game it crashed on me. I think this was caused by time machine backing up so I turned it off, and it hasn't crashed since. It was still running slow so I turned off all running applications and changed my desktop background settings so it stopped scrolling through pictures. I also set all the game settings to low as well as the screen resolution. These modifications have made the game run smoother but it is not as smooth as it should be. I also noticed the game runs smooth for about 30 min, but the heavy requirements make my Mac heat up fast and the game slows. So I have been using a fan to keep my Mac cool. Hopefully EA will make some updates to optimize the game and make it run smoother; otherwise it’s a great game.
