    WORST EVER!!!

After 8 hours with Apple care, and more with Canon support. The scanner still only works for continues scans, If you should need to walk away for more then 5 mins you have to reboot the computer, or unplug the scanner. I have tried Apple Logging IOUSB kext, i have tried using developer tools USB prober to reset the MAC USB buss. I have reset the SMC PRAM, I have tried countless IOUSB kexts , Several version of Canon software, and even several version of Canon IJscanner 1 and 2 OS kernal interface. I was not even aware of all the files that i have become aware of with this scanner. I have tried a modification to a Arch=x86_64 for a 64 bit Kernel and 32bit kernel I have been working on trying to make this scanner working so long now, it can not be returned. I will have to buy another one.(it will not be a canon) I still do not know if the issue (on all 4 Macs running snow, New Imac, New Mac book pro, Mac mini Server running Snow server, Mac Pro tower) is an apple USB bus sleeping issue or a canon driver issue. here is the Canon official response:
    Dear XXXX:

In some cases, coming out of sleep mode may not properly reinitialize
the USB bus on Macintosh Operating Systems. Unfortunately, the only
work around when this happens is to restart the computer.

Of course this in not exactly true as logging out and back in fixes it.

this was the response despite my explaining the Mac did not need to sleep for it to not work.

The product itself and the results quite ok (once you get it working). ... and that's the point. I have gone through a number of version of the software drivers now but it is a nightmare. First, you had to reboot between uses of the product. then a new version seemed to solve it but now no matter how many times I re-install the software drivers, the applications keep saying there is no software. This is my first serious issue with a Canon product so very surprising. Grrr
