Bose sound dock II is not compatible with itouch 4G

When I got this system first, it was working fine with itouch 4G and then it suddenly stopped playing music. Sent that for service, came back with same problem. Sent back again, the new system came in today but still won't work with itouch. It is charging the itouch...so I got a $299 charging station :-( I suspect there is compatability issue with new itouch and it's hit and miss with the Bose sound dock II !!!

SoundDock Series II system is NOT compatible with iPod touch 4G

Bose website clearly states that their iPod docking station Sounddock Series - II is compatible with iPod Touch 32 GB (see link iPod compatible models in the second FAQ). I bought this system with the same belief and when I got it home and tried inserting the iPod in the dock, I realized that the iPod just wouldn't dock !

On calling their service center I was assured that the system and iPod touch are very much compatible and that I should get the system to their service center. Probably I was doing something wrong. I took the system to the service center and there the technicians themselves tried to dock the iPod but even they were unable to. After this they very coolly said -'Sorry, it seems that these are not compatible'. !!

From what it seems that BOSE did not take the pain to test the new iPod 4th Generation iPod touch with its systems and have just mentioned it on their website so that people can buy their systems. And after that whether the system works or does not work for the customer is of no concern to them. This is the worst kind of customer service I have ever seen and this coming from Bose systems is very surprising and disappointing

SoundDock II: No Power, No Sound--Only Silence

I had my iPhone on the dock and it was playing music for about an hour. I just began using the dock for the first time today. While listening to the music, there was a sudden drop in sound volume; sound could only be restored by increasing the volume. This happened a few times. Eventually I heard a loud popping noise and the music stopped. When I checked the dock, it did not have any power. I called Bose and they walked me through several steps to restore power to the dock, but nothing worked. My iPhone seems to be fine. Bose is sending me a new power supply cord and I am hoping that it will fix the problem. If that doesn't work, then I have to ship the dock to Bose to be fixed which is estimated to take two weeks. The power supply for my dock was plugged into a Monster surge protector, however there weren't any electrical issues present that could have affected the dock; all other a/v equipment plugged into the same strip are working just fine. I am really disappointed with the dock and with Bose--I expected better quality. I got the dock as a gift two years ago and was just getting my first chance to use it after moving recently. After reading some of the other reviews, it sounds like others have had similar experiences. If the dock works with new power supply cord, then I plan to use with an iPod only--not my iPhone. I am concerned that using the dock could affect my phone and I don't want to deal with any more inconveniences. This experience may get me to rethink my tech choices-big Apple fan here. This problem has really surprised me--I expect quality from Bose and Apple.

This product DOES NOT WORK with an iPhone 3G

Be warned. Despite what it says on the box, and here, it does not work with an iPhone 3G. It charges, but you cannot play via the remote control, change Playlists or anything.

It sets up the warning on the iPhone that it is not compatible.

Very disappointing - going back to the shop when they re-open after Christmas.

I wanted to give no starts, but I am not allowed to.

    Bose sound dock is dissapointing

I would not buy another one. I am on my second one. The plug in the back of this player is somehow defective. If you move it around too much it falls out and cannot be plugged back in, rendering it useless!!! I have tried to fix it, but it eventually falls out again. If it was made to stay in permanently it might work better. I am disappointed and will not buy another.

    DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY

That's right! Do not waste your money on this system. First it started with a poping sound, the next day after playing for about 20 minutes it died.

Reputation doesn't mean anything for Bose anymore.

It's just a waste of money and time.

I usually NEVER review products, but if I can save someone from this TRASH I will do my best. I just brought this home from Best Buy an hour ago and its already NOT working. Five SECONDS after plugging it in there was a constant clicking (this happened 5 or 6 times) then the music just stopped playing. Now I'm trying to get it working and it is DEAD! For $300 Bose has to do better. Oh, and the sound/loudness wasn't that great either.

Sounds great, until it resets with an IPhone 3G

Sounds great.. but I've had the same problems with the IPhone that others have mentioned. I bought this yesterday and it played great for an hour. Then, it just made an electrical "popping" sound.. the iphone reset, and it started playing again at half volume. I pulled my phone out and tried it again.. 2 minutes later it did the same thing. As a test, I put my IPod Nano on the station and it has played for a couple hours without any problems. As a side note, a friend bought one of these a couple weeks ago and brought 2 back to the dealer as it's power just died. At first, he thought it was a problem with power at work, but we both have had the station plugged into a good surge protector the entire time. As a test, I'm going to put my IPhone in airplane mode and give it a try. If it still resets, it's unfortunately going back to the store.

I only used this twice and on the second day I stareted getting a loud popping sound and then it died. Bose told me they don't have any record of this kind of problem, and immediatly after I tried a borrowed phone in it they agreed to send me a new one.

Bose SoundDock II is NOT Nano Compatible

    • Written by from New Albany

I've gone through two SoundDock II's. I have a third generation nano and after about 30 minutues the bose gets glitchy and make a loud popping sound or beep and turns it's volume down. Bose insists it's not their fault - it's my nano. I have two nano's in my house and it happens on both. Apple insists its bose's problem. Typical - I predict in six months there will be an admission from one of the two companies and the creation of a series III. Returned the bose for good.

SUDDEN SURGE OF ELECTRICITY RENDERS iPHONE USELESS!

    • Written by from REYNOLDSBURG

    WARNING:
SUDDEN SURGE OF ELECTRICITY TURNS BOSE SOUNDDOCK, II ON—RENDERS iPHONE 3G TEMPORALLY USELESS:
I purchased a Bose SoundDock, II at Best Buy on 10/16/08. On two occasions, I docked my iPhone 3G (while in the non-music playing mode) on the SoundDock. After about 10 minutes, the iPhone and SoundDock suddenly turned on (into lock/slide-open position) as electrical surges pulsated through the speakers. The surges were so loud and strong that it caused the SoundDock to vibrate on the nightstand, until I removed the iPhone. The next day, while playing music (using my iPhone 3G), a sudden electrical burst/surge occurred, drowning out the music for a few seconds. This time, it caused my iPhone 3G to be nonfunctional for about 30 minutes (displaying only the Apple icon). I called Bose and reported the issue to them and a supervisor was summoned to the phone. I was issued a RMA # (Return Merchandise Authorization Number) and asked to return the unit to them. Bose is sending me a new unit, to replace my defective one. I guess the question is, “is it just my unit that is defective, or the overall design?” You be the judge.
