I recently bought the bose sound duck system. I had a very nice surround sound system in my room so I was expecting to move all of that out and then just put the bose in their hahaha. Well I was wrong. The bose sound system is amazing in sound but still not comparable to like a surround sound system. Sometimes on certain songs I wish bose let you control how much base and treble their was because on some songs there was either to much base or treble. Also one more thing i didn't like how it affected the sound depending on were the unit is. I mean if it is on the floor the direction and sound sounds weird I mean I have to make sure when I am in my room that it is pointed at me because if it is not tghe volume is 2x lower. Otherwise it is GREAT. keep on rockin bose!

Does not charge my Ipod touch

Very disappointing to find out that my new Ipod touch does not get charged in my Bose dock and, if it has the cover on, does not fit in it. I read that the Ipod touch has a USB entry instead of the firewire my old Ipod has, that is why it does not charge. It would be nice if Apple would inform us, its costumers of these changes. Not what I am used to get from Apple.

    Big Sound From Small Source

I got my Bose Sound Dock about 1 year ago. I LOVE it. It has totally taken the place of our huge stereo system. The sound is great AND the Sound Dock is small enough to carry from room to room. We even use it on our back deck! I highly recommend this product. Everyone who has heard it has commented on the extraordinary sound quality. You can buy cheaper docks but they sound pretty crackly & distorted. The Bose definitely lives up to its name!

    Dynamite Dust (Really Good)!

In radio most of my life. I could not find a product I liked as most of these small "shelf type" all-in-ones sounded flat or tinny. Not the Bose unit. Good, strong bass for a unit of this size and a perfect compliment to the iPod. I also use the unit's built in AUX IN for satellite radio providers as well. Could be used as a primary system in a smaller apartment. I bought the portable Bose and when I'm not lugging it around with me it sits atop my G5—the Mac start-up DONG through the Bose is Sweet! My iTunes runs constantly through the unit when plugged to the Mac. Can easily EQ to your music/sonic tastes with iTunes built in equalizer. Spend the money... It's worth it.

    Simplicity too much for some?

I don't understand some of the consumer reviews I've read on the Internet who criticize the Sounddock II? How many things are there in life today where joy comes straight out of a box?!!! I just pulled the speaker right out of the box, made two connections with the plug, placed my iPhone in the docket, and instantly had wonderful music emanate from this little speaker and fill my room in less than 60 seconds!!! I don't understand people who complain about the Bose sound (Hey, it's one little speaker box, not two, and can sit on a side table!!!) or the lack of more controls on the remote (Are these people already living the life of Wall-E??? What happened to getting up from your sofa or chair and simply pressing a few buttons to get what you want? What happened to the marvel of just a few years ago setting up your own personal playlists on your iPod using your computer?) I have all my old friends back: Joe Pass, Chet Atkins, Ella, Sarah, Frank, Johnny Cash, Lucinda Williams, Norah Jones, Monk, Miles, Brownie, Trane, Cannonball, Bruce, Jeff Buckley, The Verve, Kanye, The Roots, Lauryn Hill, and on and on. If you love music right out of the box, then this little speaker will do it for you!

Great Product, very compact and portability producing excellent sound for size, I found placing this unit in a corner produced greater sound with great bass response. Volume well this unit pumps. It’s light in weight and very simple with looks. Battery life is very good, It`s great for outdoors and indoors highly recommend this product. Before buying any product make sure you do your research first, make sure the iPod you are using is compatible with this unit, you will find a chart with what iPods’ and iPhone will work with this unit on apple website. Overall Highly recommended I give it my approval. Take your ipod and iphone and test drive before buy, be smart be wise.
    cheers.

Among the best iPod speaker docks

    • Written by from Webster

1st off if your Bose SoundDock Series II is not charging a newer iPod (such as a 2nd Gen iPod touch) then you either have a malfunctioning unit or the store sold you an original and not the newer model. I have a 2nd Gen iPod touch and the SoundDock II charges it just fine.

The dock sounds great. I'm really not a big fan of Bose but I love this setup. I don't know where all the sound comes from but this thing gets really loud without distortion. I would recommend it to anyone. I received it as a gift so I didn't have to deal with the price. It is a little pricey but in my opinion its pretty much worth the money if you use your iPod as a stereo/radio etc often.

Amazing sound, but irregular glitchy noise?

    • Written by from Carpinteria

For it's size, this thing sounds fantastic. Obviously you won't get booming bass, but you'll be surprised how much you do get from such a small set of speakers. The design is easy on the eyes and I thought it'd look great on my bedside table. Sadly, I noticed that my iPhone 3G made a horribly loud noise about every 10 minutes. It sounded like a loose wire being wiggled. I'm going to take it back and try another one, but possibly it's my phone. Otherwise I'd give this 5 stars.

    iPhone 4 Compatible!

I am so happy that this great sounding speaker system works with the iPhone 4. The sound is rich and has especially good Bass! Even at a low volume, I can feel the thump, while still clearly hearing the mids and highs. It's not 100% compatible, so there may be some Apps that may not work perfectly with it, but the ones that I use work great. I highly recommend it! I have always bought, and will continue to buy, Bose products due to their high quality and listening experience. Keep it up Bose!

This Bose Is Playing At My House

I bought myself a pretty nice computer stereo a few months before my last birthday. I was pleased with it. And then I got this beastly amazing Bose for my birthday and I realized that my computer stereo wasn't as cool as I had previously thought. Now I use this.

So if you're not sure whether or not to buy this, let this review stop your qualms. Don't buy that Sony or Panasonic or what-have-you...

    This Bose is the shiz.

    AMAZING SOUND

    • Written by from Portland

25 of 27 people found this useful

I bought this a couple weeks ago. I made the decision quickly from the ones available at the Apple store, and i have no regrets what so ever. I have only one complaint about these speakers, and that is that they have a slight hiss when you listen at VERY low volumes, but i doubt that you'll be listening to them that quietly at all. The sound quality is stellar, don't expect big bass beats that will knock your house down, but do expect bass notes that sound real, and have some boom to them, but not too much and not too little. Some songs i listened to had some buzzing at very high volumes, but that was also present in other speaker systems as well. Some reviews say that this does not charge the ipod touch, these reviews are false, as this was only present when attempting to dock the second generation touch with the series I dock because the pin in the dock connector that was reserved for charging the ipod was moved when the touch moved from 1st to 2nd generation. Also for you noise junkies out there, I've tried this, these speakers can pump out some HUGE sound... don't be afraid to crank them up.

    Pros:
    -Amazing sound
    -VOLUME
    -Brilliant bass and treble
    -Charges all ipods
-All comes from a small system

    Cons:
    -Remote is slightly lacking
    -Speakers hiss at low volume

If this product is within your budget and you're trying to decide between this Bose and another set of speakers, then jump for this Bose, you will not regret it!

The Bose Sound Dock is absolutely worth every penny; so much so that I own two. One for the office and one for my home. The sound quality is fantastic and the charging while using (or not) is convenient. It fills the entire room with sound and can be used in very large rooms, replacing any other stereo system you own. The only drawback, which is minimal, is the iPod is securely in the dock, but only on the bottom portion. When navigating your iPod by hand, you need to hold the top part of the iPod to avoid bending it back slightly. Other than that, it is 100% fantastic and I highly recommend this product.

    Could improve the bass

Got these speakers for Christmas. Great product. Remote wasn't working for my 3Gs the first time so I just took it off and docked it again; worked fine after that. Anyone who gave it a bad review seems to have a faulty Sounddock so I guess it's luck of the draw with these. You just have to toy around with it. The bass was disappointing but i don't listen to hip hop very often so I'm not complaining.
