    Bose SoundDock Capatibility

    • Written by from Huntsville

According to Bose and many other sources, the Bose SoundDock was suppose to be 100% capable to to iTouch. After getting it shipped, I found that the recharging feature only works for iPods and iPhones, NOT iTouch. This shortcoming is slightly implied on the Apple website, but I don't think anyone would have noticed the exclusion of iTouch for this feature since it should be obvious requirement. Sound quality is pretty good, but I'm going to return the unit since I would be running on battery power all the time. Live and learn!

    Splendid sound when it worked

    • Written by

We recently bought a unit at the store near Stanford University in Ca and brought it back here in the Philippines. The unit worked for about 3 days and when my son was using it,it suddenly went dead. No sound, no power. I tried everything the manual said from plugging and unplugging the unit a for a few mins to re-attaching the ipod after a few mins, adjusting the volume both in the ipod and the unit and still nothing worked. I read the same problem from the review of another user and if anyone else out there has the same problem, please sound out. I have a trip to San Diego, Ca this Nov. and is bringing the unit back with me for replacement. I hope Bose finds out what's bugging this model.

    Sounds great, but.......

    • Written by from Valley Center

I am now waiting for my THIRD SoundDock Series II. The first one sounded fantastic for 3 songs and then just died. No sound, no power....nothing. I disconnected my Touch and tried the earphones to make sure I didn't blow anything and it was fine. Sent that one back and got my second SoundDock II days later; that one worked great for 3 days - same thing happened. BOSE claims it is highly unlikely that 2 of their SoundDocks could be faulty. I tried other ipods in the system and they didn't work either. I'm going to contact apple to see if they have any suggestions or have heard of any glitches like this. Please let me know if anyone out their has experienced the same issues. When it works, it's worth the price. Thanks.

    disappointed with workmanship

    • Written by from Riverton

The quality of sound is amazing, however I have had this about a year and a half and the dock has a short in it. The Ipod has to be sitting just perfectly to work, and then it will usually short out again and have to be adjusted. Be very gentle when docking and undocking to not flex the female insert. It won't last long if you do. I now have an almost unusable piece of equipment.

Does not work with iTouch OS 4.0.1

    • Written by from Cranford

I bought the Bose dock a year ago and have enjoyed digital music from my iTouch 2nd Gen for a while. Yesterday I updated the iTouch OS to 4.0.1. All in a sudden, the Bose dock does not work for the iTouch any more. It can still charge the iTouch but no more music. The message is "The accessory does not support iPod Touch".

    Static from Speakers??

    • Written by from Brooklyn

I just bought this and docked my iphone 4. However, I'm really disappointed with the speaker on the left side (when facing you). When the iPhone is docked and nothing is playing, you hear pretty audible static and "bubbling" , "gurgling"? Not sure how to describe it. It's noticeable when playing quieter music. It's not *so* noticeable when playing music, but enough to bother me from a system I paid $300!!

I put my ipod nano 4th Gen in place and there's no static. I'm wondering if this is b'c of antenna interference as it's an iPhone that I'm having the static issues with? Is anyone else noticing this??

I have had the previous white Bose Sounddock from maybe 5 yrs ago. Didn't have the static problem with it then (with ipods). Some downsides: not so secure connection of AC to sounddock and flimsy docking station that gets worse over time/use. These were issues I had with the older Bose as well.

The sound is great, but that static thing is bothering me a lot! I am most likely returning it. If this were a $100 system, maybe I would put up with it. But not a $300 Bose product!

Sound is superior but not very compatible with Iphone

    • Written by from toronto

I love the sound. There is no other dock that is going to sound this good. I would give five stars if it was actually compatible with the iphone. I know it says "made for iphone" but let me tell you. I use the app AmbiScience to sleep at night. I was so excited to get my bose sounddock and use it with ambiscience to get great sound in my sleep. BIG BUMMER!!!!!!!!!! The Bose Soundock series II shuts off after 30 minutes!!! WHAT???
I tried all the settings, I tried other sleep apps and you know what? The Bose soundock series II shuts off after 30 minutes. uGHHHHH!!!! I hope apple and bose gets together and fixes this problem but whats the cahnces of that since you get no response from apple or bose. hmmmmmm For $300 you would think this would work flawlessly.

    Very disappointed.

    Not Accurate

    • Written by from Dawson Creek

The Bose SoundDock system is not exactly compatable with every generation of the iPod Nano. It will not charge the 4th generation Nano and it drains the battery very quickly when in use. The sound is excellent but be cautious when purchasing.

    Not for the price

    • Written by from Santa Ana

The Speakers are satisfactory. The power output isn't unbeatable. And as the volume goes up, the quality of sound goes down, something very disappointing for a sound dock with a price that steep. Even at a low volume there's not much to be said. The sound is thick and the beats can sound mashed together, rather than crisp and distinct. At $100, $200 tops, sure, they're fine. But at a whopping $300, spend your money elsewhere.

Remoter does not wrok as advertised.

    • Written by from Port Townsend

The sound is ok but the biggest drawback is the REOMOTE DOES NOT NAVIGATE THROUGH THE PLAYLISTS. It will start with the first song and play randomly through all this music on the devise. It is gong back to Best Buy very soon.

    Annoying volume reset feature

    • Written by from Toronto

I find the sound quality of this unit to be quite good but the thing Im finding annoying is that whenever I stop using it for more than 20 minutes the volume automatically resets itself to 0. I have my Airport Express connected to the Auxiliary port in the back to play music wirelessly using Airplay and any time I connect to the Sounddock I have to find the remote to turn the volume up. Its quite frustrating as I purchased this unit mainly to play music through Airplay and I would like to keep the volume on the speakers at something louder than it currently sets itself to every time.
