I recently purchased the Bose SoundDock and I have to say the sound on it is great! It's a nice size as well and is a great quality and I love the little controller that comes with it.

Although it is a little bit pricey, it is worth it to have a good product that I will be able to use for years to come.

    Two thumbs up!

No possibility to connect to iPod Radio Remote or iTrip!

It is a great system with fantastic sound quality, but I bought it also to be able to listen to the radio via the iPod Radio Remote - this does not work because Bose Sound System and the radio remote use the same connector to the iPod! It also does not work with the Griffin iTrip for the same reason, so no possibility to listen to the radio while using iPod and Bose Sound System II! Big disappointment.

    Annoying volume reset feature

I find the sound quality of this unit to be quite good but the thing Im finding annoying is that whenever I stop using it for more than 20 minutes the volume automatically resets itself to 0. I have my Airport Express connected to the Auxiliary port in the back to play music wirelessly using Airplay and any time I connect to the Sounddock I have to find the remote to turn the volume up. Its quite frustrating as I purchased this unit mainly to play music through Airplay and I would like to keep the volume on the speakers at something louder than it currently sets itself to every time.

Expensive and heavy, but sounds awesome...the original sounddock doesn't have subwoofer or folded horn; the sounddock II is essentially same as Bose radio, which u can't buy in the storE.

If it was cheaper, I would give it 5 stars. Also, u cannot lower base...thankfully it sounds crispy.

I'm not a audiophile but I am a very real live consumer. This makes me particularly credible in this review, since I don't have gobs of money but I do appreciate quality. If you want to play your iPhone songs on a relatively affordable speaker system, this is a truly value-added product. At reasonable listening volumes, in smaller spaces (like your home computer room) the Bose SoundDock II works just fine. Just remember that your iPhone/iPod songs are likely 196kbps or there-around in detail. Spending much more than the SoundDock to achieve higher fidelity is like using a microscope to read the morning newspaper. That said, the sound quality is natural, even, and does not change as you increase the volume. Music/Movies will be recreated with detail and with particular clarity to the original recording, it's what you would rather hear, right? Whether you listen to the SoundDock at a lower volume or crank it, it sounds the same -that's how speakers should work. Paradigm is arguably the most naturally sounding speaker available (to regular people). I've always used Paradigm but they don't produce docking systems. Bose sounds similarly and one can plug in their Apple gear. For less than $300 clams, it sure is nice.

SoundDock II: No Power, No Sound--Only Silence

I had my iPhone on the dock and it was playing music for about an hour. I just began using the dock for the first time today. While listening to the music, there was a sudden drop in sound volume; sound could only be restored by increasing the volume. This happened a few times. Eventually I heard a loud popping noise and the music stopped. When I checked the dock, it did not have any power. I called Bose and they walked me through several steps to restore power to the dock, but nothing worked. My iPhone seems to be fine. Bose is sending me a new power supply cord and I am hoping that it will fix the problem. If that doesn't work, then I have to ship the dock to Bose to be fixed which is estimated to take two weeks. The power supply for my dock was plugged into a Monster surge protector, however there weren't any electrical issues present that could have affected the dock; all other a/v equipment plugged into the same strip are working just fine. I am really disappointed with the dock and with Bose--I expected better quality. I got the dock as a gift two years ago and was just getting my first chance to use it after moving recently. After reading some of the other reviews, it sounds like others have had similar experiences. If the dock works with new power supply cord, then I plan to use with an iPod only--not my iPhone. I am concerned that using the dock could affect my phone and I don't want to deal with any more inconveniences. This experience may get me to rethink my tech choices-big Apple fan here. This problem has really surprised me--I expect quality from Bose and Apple.

great for musicians who play a solo instrument

I use this with my trumpet everywhere and its a great jamming companion... when you add in an external wire to the iPod head phone jack the electrical differences caused depending on the device you use and how well its grounded the Bose seems to aggravate grounding issues and glitches the iPod but this is more an issue o needing an output jack on the BOSE rather than having to chain another speaker to the iPod...for most people not an issue but I use the Bose for good midrange feedback for improv and chain a JVC BOOM BOX to it for solid bass sound and better backup to my horn......still its a great speaker...wish I got it for the price its at now--paid 100 more for it last Christmas...

I got the portable which are really nice. They sound so rich and deep, superb bass that rivals the best stereo system. You can't go wrong with Bose. This system makes your I Pod come alive!

I usually NEVER review products, but if I can save someone from this TRASH I will do my best. I just brought this home from Best Buy an hour ago and its already NOT working. Five SECONDS after plugging it in there was a constant clicking (this happened 5 or 6 times) then the music just stopped playing. Now I'm trying to get it working and it is DEAD! For $300 Bose has to do better. Oh, and the sound/loudness wasn't that great either.

Bose meets its expectations, great sound (JBL radial sounds better but i went for the brand). My only problem is that it looks a little boring (A brick that plays music) so buy it if u r a person of simple taste but high value.

    Hifi really?

I don't actually own this sounddock but I had the opportunity to use it while I was staying at the Royalton. The sound was anything but hifi. The sounddock itself vibrates too much, creating tons of awful resonances. It kinda sounds like an average clock radio to me. With that being said, I do like the portability of it and the design maybe because it is hardly original. Nothing about it speaks high quality or hifi. It's kinda cheap and nasty for what you get at this price.

    Just another docking station

Although it's better then those big, old fashion sound systems- it has it's flaws.
The sound qualityt is bad, and it seems like look weird with the colorful, smaller iPod's in it, but that's just my girliness talking out.
But, my biggest problem with it is that I need something that will play CD's. I may have have over 320 songs on my iPod, but that's not all of my favorite music.
But, if you don't mind less then great sound quality & if all of your music is on your iPod, it won't be too bad for you.
