Two Years and Still Loving It

    • Written by from Chester

Our experience with our Bose Sound Dock has been very good. We have not experienced the problems described in a few of the reviews written here. We are two years into ownership and are as satisfied with our sound dock as we could be. Actually quite amazed at how long the battery will still play after a charge and always appreciate how it leaves our ipods and iphones charged when we are done with the sound dock. Quality of sound is quite amazing for such a small box. Get one soon.

    Bose sound dock is dissapointing

    • Written by from Walnut Creek

I would not buy another one. I am on my second one. The plug in the back of this player is somehow defective. If you move it around too much it falls out and cannot be plugged back in, rendering it useless!!! I have tried to fix it, but it eventually falls out again. If it was made to stay in permanently it might work better. I am disappointed and will not buy another.

    DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY

    • Written by from East Stroudsburg

That's right! Do not waste your money on this system. First it started with a poping sound, the next day after playing for about 20 minutes it died.

Reputation doesn't mean anything for Bose anymore.

It's just a waste of money and time.

    Big Sound From Small Source

    • Written by from scarsdale

I got my Bose Sound Dock about 1 year ago. I LOVE it. It has totally taken the place of our huge stereo system. The sound is great AND the Sound Dock is small enough to carry from room to room. We even use it on our back deck! I highly recommend this product. Everyone who has heard it has commented on the extraordinary sound quality. You can buy cheaper docks but they sound pretty crackly & distorted. The Bose definitely lives up to its name!

    Quality Product

    • Written by from Ashbury

Great Product, very compact and portability producing excellent sound for size, I found placing this unit in a corner produced greater sound with great bass response. Volume well this unit pumps. It’s light in weight and very simple with looks. Battery life is very good, It`s great for outdoors and indoors highly recommend this product. Before buying any product make sure you do your research first, make sure the iPod you are using is compatible with this unit, you will find a chart with what iPods’ and iPhone will work with this unit on apple website. Overall Highly recommended I give it my approval. Take your ipod and iphone and test drive before buy, be smart be wise.
    cheers.

Sound is superior but not very compatible with Iphone

    • Written by from toronto

I love the sound. There is no other dock that is going to sound this good. I would give five stars if it was actually compatible with the iphone. I know it says "made for iphone" but let me tell you. I use the app AmbiScience to sleep at night. I was so excited to get my bose sounddock and use it with ambiscience to get great sound in my sleep. BIG BUMMER!!!!!!!!!! The Bose Soundock series II shuts off after 30 minutes!!! WHAT???
I tried all the settings, I tried other sleep apps and you know what? The Bose soundock series II shuts off after 30 minutes. uGHHHHH!!!! I hope apple and bose gets together and fixes this problem but whats the cahnces of that since you get no response from apple or bose. hmmmmmm For $300 you would think this would work flawlessly.

    Very disappointed.

perfect sound.. problem with ipod integration

    • Written by from london

I absolutely love the sound this unit puts out and it doesn't matter if you use it as soft background music or an aggressive sound thumper. The sound always seams to be perfect. Only on really loud deep music can you begin to hear the annoying base "pop" which is only at peak sound capacity, but it seams be quite adequate of filling a small sized home such as mine with more then enough sound.

Now to the bad side of this unit....I'm not sure if its only me that has had this problem but as for the ipod, It keeps freezing... its very annoying its happened on many occasions, Im not sure what Im doing wrong.. Im sure its not the ipod because I have used it on many other devices and this is the first device that has given me any grief.. After approx. one hour using this system the music stops dead you remove the ipod and its just like you paused it.. you can hard reset the ipod but sometimes it doesn't work, and you have to let the screen stay on full and wait for the battery to drain down... I can see this being a real problem. I've only had the system a week and have had to hard reset the ipod 4 times. Its almost like the Bose dock is overcharging the ipod which causes it to screen freeze.

    Big disappointment.

    • Written by from Cambridge

So I don't understand why their aren't more complaints about the remote's ridiculous lack of functionality.

Basically, it only scrolls through the playlists!?!?!?!

I spent 250 on the iPod (160 GB Classic) because I have a huge CD collection, well over 2000 CD's.

Then I spend 300 dollars on the Sounddock II, only to find out it is basically designed for a child.

Pros: Much smaller than I thought, good sound (though the bass is a bit too much on some performances, and the treble tones shake sometimes), light weight, and sleek.

CONS: How on earth can any engineer justify designing a product like this for the presumed serious music lover with such limited functionality? You can't scroll through the Albums, Cover Flow, Composer, Artist. Nope. None of those options. Playlist only, which means more of the precious hours of your life wasted in iTunes organizing.

    Unbelievable.

    My first review.

If your a serious music collector, it doesn't deserve all the brouhaha every is blathering about, imo.

Fantastic Sound, Remote lacks full functionality, but great product

    • Written by from Toronto

    Pros:
I found the sound quality to be warm and clear.
    Ample power and bass.
    Clean design.

    Cons:
The only desire I would have is for an USB connection, and more importantly, a fully functioning remote control compatible with ipod touch. A remote to go through not only playlists (which it does) but all of the songs, albums, etc. There must be a way to do this.

    RE: ipod touch 2G

    • Written by from FORT SPRING

please do not confuse the series II with the original bose ipod dock when writing your review. thank you-- the mgmt.

bose is ridiculously expensive, but i will say there is little comparison between this dock and other competitors when you are trying to really fill a space/home/office with music. i hear things in songs that i never heard before in headphones or otherwise with this dock. i owned an original, sold it when i got my touch, replaced it with series II

Good product for the purpose it was made for

    • Written by from Edison

The sound is more than enough for my small city apartment. I can't crank it all the way without bothering the neighbors. And ofcourse it works with the iPhone and iTouch. You have to turn it on with enough power (battery comes empty) or your (iTouch or iPhone) will say the device is incompatible with your iPod or iPhone, instead of telling you it is off. I thought that was funny and confusing. The sound system in my car actually sounds better, so I am not too impressed, but what what it is, its pretty good source of music for your computer or iPod with an unbeatable convenience of space saving light mobile design.

    Couldn't be happier

    • Written by from Redding

I purchased this product yesterday after I heard my brother's a month ago. I have always been impressed with Bose. We have speakers, head phones and the CD/radio player and now the SoundDock. Sound quality just blows all the others away. I have it in my kitchen/family room and can hear it clearly on low volume from my bedroom. So far no issues with popping, etc. My iphone does recommend that i switch to airplane mode. As I said, couldn't be happier. I highly recommend this product even at the price. Use your stimulus check and put money back into the economy.

    HORRIBLE!

    • Written by from Baltimore

I usually NEVER review products, but if I can save someone from this TRASH I will do my best. I just brought this home from Best Buy an hour ago and its already NOT working. Five SECONDS after plugging it in there was a constant clicking (this happened 5 or 6 times) then the music just stopped playing. Now I'm trying to get it working and it is DEAD! For $300 Bose has to do better. Oh, and the sound/loudness wasn't that great either.

Among the best iPod speaker docks

    • Written by from Webster

1st off if your Bose SoundDock Series II is not charging a newer iPod (such as a 2nd Gen iPod touch) then you either have a malfunctioning unit or the store sold you an original and not the newer model. I have a 2nd Gen iPod touch and the SoundDock II charges it just fine.

The dock sounds great. I'm really not a big fan of Bose but I love this setup. I don't know where all the sound comes from but this thing gets really loud without distortion. I would recommend it to anyone. I received it as a gift so I didn't have to deal with the price. It is a little pricey but in my opinion its pretty much worth the money if you use your iPod as a stereo/radio etc often.
