Scosche adaptor charges iPhone but there is noise

    • Written by from Waltham

I have a 2009 Maxima and an iPhone 4S. I bought the adaptor because my iphone was not getting charged while listening to music through the car system/iphone.
When connected to this adaptor, the iphone charges fine but any music (internet radio, itunes music, etc) comes out with a hissing high pitch noise through the speakers. If I disconnect the adaptor and put the phone back directly through the car's regular cable, the noise is gone.
The Scosche adaptor solved one problem but created another. I don't use it anymore. Sorry.

    Exactly what I needed!

    • Written by from Bolingbrook

I have the IPhone 4S, and the 09' Jaguar XF Supercharged. The part arrived today and it works perfectly. The part also fits snug into my phone. There is no loose fit on my unit. The plug-in part on this unit also has the two lock pins on the side to help the adapter fit without coming off. I have no problems with the sound quality and it doesn't come loose when I turn or hit a bump. It also charges my IPhone 4S just like a regular charger does. I DO NOT GET THE ANNOYING MESSAGE THAT SAYS THE PART IS NOT CHARGING.

    Very noisy in car!

    • Written by from West Hollywood

I'm using this in my Infiniti that provides the 5v charge line only. It introduces an awful, high pitched noise into the line. It's very audible, and very annoying.

This may be a problem endemic to all converters, but I can definitely say this one for sure has this problem. I plan to try another brand.

    Ipod Touch 4thG

    • Written by from Glen Allen

it works in an 09 Scion XB, but the sound quality is a bit muffled from the standard connection. Usually can overcompensate with volume with no issues. Also, try to use a different EQ setting if you hear too much bass or too much treble with the adapter on.

    Works with SCION TC

    • Written by from Savannah

i HAVE A 2008 SCION TC with a factory ipod interface had no issues with previous ipods until I purchased a 4th gen ipod nano and 2nd gen ipod touch from that point on I had to manually unplug and recharge my ipod whenever I needed juice then reconnect to the existing ipod wiring harness in my car; needless to say this got old and very tiresome REAL quick...since deciding to take a chance on this Scosche adapter all is well once again charging and playback capability all from a single connection...AAaaahh no more worries

SCOSCHE passPORT keeps rebooting my iPhone!

    • Written by from salinas

I have it installed into my iCar iPOD adaptor in my car. It keeps rebooting my iPhone. Particularily when I am using my phone.Very Random. VERY ANNOYING.

also the body is too large to fit flush in the iphone jack if you have a case over it.

was lookng for an iPhone cable extender, but non exist that seem to work.I have tried them all.
they claim to be a ligit extender, they work with a PC but do not with the iCar adaptor..

You'd think Apple would make the specs standard on a simple interface cable. NOT!

    how frustrating..

    Poor design

    • Written by from East Sheen

Generally does the trick to get this charging in my Golf but because there are no clips the connection falls out all the time (even just going over speed bumps). Really poor design for a not inexpensive product. Would not recommend to anyone wanting to use this in a car.

Doesn't work on iPhone 4 with Pioneer CD IB100II Adapter

    • Written by from Winchester

Unfortunately this product does not work with the iPhone 4 if you are trying to use it with a Pioneer CD IB100II iPod adapter. There's no charge.. the iPhone4 doesn't even act like it realizes it is plugged into it. I called the manufacturer and they confirmed it DOES NOT WORK WITH IPhone4 and the Pioneer CD IB100II, but said they are trying to come up with a solution. The other guy that wrote a review here and has it working in his car is lucky (RP from REDONDO BEACH).
Buyer beware! This won't work with every connection, including after-market converters evidently.

    not work with BMW

    • Written by from Glastonbury

I just got this today. It arrived fast enough but soon as I plugged it into my X5, it didn't work. I still got the message accessory is not designed for iphone and it still would not charge my iphone. Too bad. I was really hoping this would work. I have a 3GS by the way. I'll be returning this to the apple store tomorrow.

    FAIL

    • Written by from Port Coquitlam

Forced to buy one due to the change of pins in the new ipod touch 64 so it will charge with my ipod2car interface. More importantly to get rid of the incessant (and I mean INCESSANT) 'not compatible with charger' messages. Really - once, when you plug it in, is enough.
Fail 1) Connector does not have catches on it, so it easily falls out with the movement of the car, especially if the ipod is in a dash-mounted holder.
Fail 2) after a few months, the ipod now cuts out every few minutes; it stops playing or reverts to the internal speaker. Take it out of the connection and it doesn't cut out - but then back to the messages. I'm off to try the Griffin one.

    works with the iPhone 4!

    • Written by from REDONDO BEACH

WHAT ELSE DO I HAVE TO SAY?! IT WORKS PERFECT WITH MY IPHONE 4! NOW I CAN LISTEN TO PANDORA OR THE SONGS MY IPHONE IN MY CAR OR WHERE EVER I WANT! i had an aftermarket system installed on my car that had the old adapter. i just popped this one on and viola! i didn't have any problems with it coming off or anything! i thought about changing my adapter, but i thought why not give this $20 thing a try compared to the $150 it would have cost me to install a new adapter. now, you can see why i'm so ecstatic about it! it's perfect!

    Engineering failure

    • Written by from Baytown

I have this for my iPhone 3G that I use in an Infiniti G37. It does charge the phone... if it ever stays connected. It does not lock into the port on the phone for some unimaginable and unexplained reason. What this means is that the slightest movement of the phone (like driving!) will cause it to fall right out. You may think your phone is charging but it isn't. And don't even consider actually picking the phone up for any reason - it comes right out again. I cant imagine that an intelligent engineer designed this piece of garbage this way. Design, production, and quality control must have all been drunk that this junk came off the assembly line. It does what it is supposed to do, but very, very poorly with marginal practicality.

    I can't recommend this junk.

Solved the Big Problem, but there is room for improvement

    • Written by from Belmont

The charging adapter is great in that it did solve my problem: it allows my iPhone to charge while I use it in the car. BUT, the adapter plug is designed so that it will NOT fit throught the $50 otter case that I have bought to protect my iPhone. Now I have to find a new case...

    Works, but doesn't clip

    • Written by from Brampton

Yes, it does what it's supposed to in an Alpine head unit with an iPod touch 3G. But it doesn't clip in the back, so it falls out relatively easy. Also, the Alpine unit sees it as an iPod always inserted if the adapter's in, but the iPod's not. The dock adapter I got for a Yamaha unit works as expected, so I don't know if it's a problem with Alpine or the adapter. The no clip issue really kills the rating on this though. Recommended if you don't go over too many bumps or it's not going to be used in a car.

Does not work with a 3Gs

The Passport simply does not make any difference with any of my iPod/Phone accessories when used with my 3Gs. Am I missing something?
