Beats by Dr. Dre Headphones from Monster
Next To Nothing!
Written by RG from Deira
Jul 12, 2009
Ill make this simple as much as I can and make it fair as much as possible. I am a music addict, maybe an audiophile, I listen to any kind of music and cant go a day without it.
I thought I already had the best when I bought the Bose Headphones. I was wrong. Truly, Bose raised the bar when they introduced their QC2s and QC3s. Bose gave us an experienced and technology that we havent seen and experienced before. Its like having a superb product which will not be beaten for the next years or so. Thats why I bought them, theres nothing you can ask for that time. To those who have QC2s and QC3s like me, they know what I mean on how great they are. And please dont get me wrong, I still love them.
But of course, technology and eagerness never stops. Now we have Beats by Dr. Dre Headphones from Monster Cable Products, Inc. A different product which for me and many others believed surpasses the experienced Bose gave us. You cant really tell how this Headphone performs until you try and listen to them. Like what they advertised, you can really hear the smallest detail of sound you can imagine. Many good things were said and negative too. But believe me, they are way good than what you think.
The clearness of sounds they produce is just more than realistic. I wont speak about how well the bass, the lows and highs, I wont speak about the quality, the noise cancelling, and accessories included, or how fashionable they are, or about the battery issue anymore. We wont finish if I will. Like what I said, they are way good than what you think.
I just want you to know that they are remarkable and a very good investment when it comes to headphones. Like Bose, one day, other company will develop a product that is better than the Beats. Its just a matter of time.
So to wrap up, they are by far the best. If you love music, you have to have them. If you bought them, youll be glad you did. Me, Im enjoying them each and every use.75 of 86 people found this useful

Why all the bad reviews?
Written by RB
Aug 14, 2008
I feel most of the hatred is not the product itself, its because for some idiotic reason, you don't like Monster Cable. Monster is always about quality. Forget the prices, if you like it and appreciate it, then buy it. If not, don't buy and don't complain for no reason.
I have heard these headphones and they are exceptional. I am a music producer. I went to a press event last week where these were being showcased next to another top manufacturer £800 set (yes, UK Pounds) and Beats made them look and sound positively dull. Even this other manufacturer said to me that Beats were better and were worried! I don't want to say who they were as they are a top company. And for all those going on about them not being comfortable? What shape is your head? These are the most comfortable cans i have ever worn and when you are producing music for long periods of time, you seriously need comfort. The mute button on the side is also simple, but genious.
I have never heard a better set of headphones which are supposed to be for Hip Hop, but i find amazing from classical right through to heavy metal. And as for the price? I think they are under priced compared to its competition.
Rather than read all the Monster haters reviews, why don't you check out what the music professionals actually say about these from the reviews in magazines.117 of 174 people found this useful

CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE MUSIC LOVER'S SOUL
Written by MG from New York

Ok.. I'm a professional deejay and have had enough experience with headphones. Had 3 pairs of Sonys which sounded crisp (all broke), 2 pairs of Technics which sounded warmer (broke too), Shure SE530 in-ears (loved but lost ON an airplane!), V-Modas (hated) etc.
I am not one to write reviews, but I just got these in the mail & can say that I am truly blown away. I ran a comparison test to my current Allen & Heath XONEs, and the beats destroyed them.
In my line of work, I play everything from Hip Hop to Rock to Fela, and listening to all these different genres on these headphones, I haven't been disappointed. I even tried them with the Nutcracker Pas De Deux and heard the arm movements of the violinists plucking, and the conductor taking a breath in! I could even tell what side of the room each instrument was.
I haven't taken these off my head yet. I'm hearing elements I didn't hear before and it's opened me up to more creative possibilities. Plus I love the fact that they come with an iPhone mic cord so I can rock these in the street. But I have to agree with someone who said they might hate you on the A train! =)

Amazing Head Phones!!!!
Written by JL from Toronto

First off id just like to say I never write reviews for products but my love for these drove me into it. Dr. Dre's 'Beats' headphones are the best noise canceling headphones on the market. I feel they surpass the quality of the Bose, which compare closely in both price, quality, and comfort. Though it is a little expensive, the quality compares to headphones that are a lot more.
A great product... recommend for everyone!52 of 72 people found this useful

Amazing headphones, worth the money, Try them before judging them!
Written by SD from Norwalk

I have had these headphones for about 4 weeks now and i think they are great. I have already read so many reviews that said that bose is better, and that these headphones have terrible sound with for example movies. Understand though these were made for an amazing music experience, not for a video experience. Also you must keep in mind that they are studio headphones so they will be loud on the outside. But the sound these produce is great, and the bass gives u goosebumps once you turn them up, really, i have owned and tried so many headphones, but these are totally worth it when you can turn the music up, and have the headphones almost vibrating on your head because of the bass, and the sound is still amazingly clear. Just about no headphones compare to these, GOOD JOB Dr. Dre and Monster, amazing headphones!!!!!

Beats by Dr. Dre Headphones from Monster
Absolutely incredible sounding
Written by MP from Liberal

Let me just throw this out really fast. There are a ton of audio snobs out there who love to trash these as over priced pieces of trash. It is my opinion that most of these people have never even tried Beats by Dre. Reviews that say "$50 trash headphones" should simply be ignored.
Now to the review - these headphones are incredible. I compared them to several $300 range headphones. In my opinion, they are the best. I listen to rap, electro, classic rock, etc. I particularly recommend these if you like rap / trance stuff. I find that most headphones provide a "flat" experience. These headphones offer incredible depth in sound. I've listened to tracks and have heard details I've previously missed.
The bass is incredible. (10/10) Awesome rumble. Clean & crisp. Does not take away or distort other aspects of the music.
Overall sound quality is excellent. (9/10) I listened to Tiesto's newest track with these cans and was absolutely blown away by the quality of the audio.
Fit quality & comfort is pretty good. (8/10) I wore these for a good hour already. Light pressure. Maybe a little warm around my ears. Other than that, no complaints although I've had one person tell me they felt as if the earphones were a bit tight.
Noise cancellation is good although not like Bose's QC3 headphones. I find these more pleasant than Bose's headphones simply because when you put Bose on you feel a significant difference in your inner ear. I think these headphones offer less cancellation which in turn reduces the noise cancellation irritation some people experience.
Cables, box, etc are very nice as well.
The few things I don't like:
1) Finger prints everywhere.
2) These things leak sound pretty bad. Do not take these to a library at all.
3) Battery cover could have better design.
4) I've heard quite a bit that these headphones crack around the screws. So far so good. Fingers crossed.
5) Overall build could be a little better.
In conclusion, I would highly recommend these cans. I've had 10 people try them on. Nothing but "Ahhhhh" "Ohhhhh" and "Wow!".32 of 37 people found this useful

Best headphones ever!!
Written by JG

These are the best headphones I have ever owned.
And to all those other reviewers that dislike these headphones:
1: if you find that the headphones are leaking sound, YOU HAVE THEM TOO LOUD!
2: if the wire keeps breaking, it is because you are pulling on the cord, not the jack.
3: if the sound is not very good, it is beacause you are using a track dowloaded from the Internet, if you get a good copy from the iTunes store, the sound will be great, these headphones are designed to give great sound with a good digital copy of the music.
4: any other problems are caused by improper care by the user, READ THE MANUAL and your headphones will last a long time and give you great sound.
Your headphones are only as good as you treat them.35 of 43 people found this useful

The best audio product I have ever owned...
Written by JP from Staten Island
Sep 12, 2009
Im going to start this review with the only negative thing I can think of about these headphones; they will make you go deaf. The sound is so amazing on them, it will make you want to listen to every song full blast. Your whole library will sound different once you've heard them on the beats. The sound is blazing, the bass is pounding. It literally sounds as if someone glued subwoofers and speakers to your ears. I highly recommend these headphones. The price is definitely steep compared to the competition, but like Apple products you are paying for superior design and quality.

I recently purchased these headphones and I never write reviews but, they are well worth it if you want to drop 350$ on headsets. People who hate on them are really over critical on small things. Trust me they are great! good job Dr. Dre!

A sonic marvel
Written by DS from Denver
May 13, 2009
I'd heard a lot of stuff about Dr. Dre's beats, not all of them good. The reviews I had gotten were mixed, so i figured I'd give them a try before passing too much judgement. I was in an Apple Store about a week ago getting a repair for my computer. I saw the beats, and immediately took them from the stand. I arranged them in a way so that I could also fit some Bose headphones aroud the other ear, and I played the same song with the same settings on 2 different iPhones. There was no contest: The beats won. I've had a pair of nice Bose Quiet Comfort 2 headphones in my household for a few years now, but these were something entirely different. The volume was the first thing to catch me: I truly couldn't stand the same volume setting that I had on the Bose set on the Beats. The base also took me: I had the default Hip-hop equalizer on, and it felt like I had taken the time to set up custom equalizer for the song. The bass made the headphones vibrate, but it didn't sacrifice higher audio. All of it was crisp. I plan to get these headphones ASAP.

Great Headphones! Not sure how anyone could give these a bad review.
Written by EP from Oak Park

After searching around and sifting though all available over the ear headphones in this price range and then reading numerous reviews I decided on the Beats Headphones. No that it really matters but I do have to say this product gives a fantastic first impression as the packaging is impressive and you can tell Apple really had a lot of input not only in the packaging but the over all design and features.
I had them delivered to my office and quickly got them out, hooked them up and plugged them into my iphone. First I want to say that having the custom iphone cable is fantastic. This cable allows you to answer incoming calls by pressing a small button on the cable...Very handy! All I have to say is there is a reason these phones take 2 AAA batteries. The base response on these phones is amazing and distortion free. I tested it out with some good drum and base and the phones were literally vibrating with clean solid bass. very impressive. I then ran the gamut with everything from classical to Slipknot and I can find no flaws with these phones. Of course you can probably spend less but I would bet you will get significantly less as well. I would be very skeptical with any of the bad reviewers of this product as they always seem to be pushing some other brand and I'm not sure if they are genuine.
All and all fantastic phones and worth every penny.28 of 34 people found this useful

Most awesome headphones
Written by LL from Doral
Aug 16, 2009
I´ve been shopping for headphones for months, and until I went to an Apple Store I had the chance to compare my two favorite options. Beats and QC2´s.
Beats have more sound power, if you don´t like the preset Eq headphones, you can always adjust them in your iPod. I´d always prefer to turn the volume down, instead of wishing I could turn it up a notch.
Also, Beats were far more comfortable than the QC2´, even when falling asleep. The head band is bigger, more adjustable and the length of the cord is just the right size.
On the plane, they might be a bit big to carry, but missed if you don´t. The look is amazing, and the sound is way more amazing. The battery life is also outstanding.
They might not be reference headphones for professional studio musician´s and engineers, they are definitely a pair of headphones to listen and enjoy music.23 of 25 people found this useful

GREAT!!!
Written by DC from SHELBY TOWNSHIP

The people who give this item poor reviews haven't really tried them out, or just can't afford them. They suggest a brand that's cheaper and say they're more professional, when they're not. Don't get mad because they're out of your budget.
These headphones are great. Unbelievable. I've done my research for about three days, then bought the product. They are amazing. I've read that the technology and the and the sound quality itself should make this product over $1,000. With what you're getting in this product, it's a steal. You might think the headphones are all about the bass, but they're not. They sound AMAZING, with great sound quality, highs and lows, and bass. They're also the most comfortable headphones you can get. Do you ears a favor, get these.34 of 48 people found this useful

Incredible Sound!!!
Written by NM from San Francisco

Wow. Seriously. Wow!
These things are amazing.
I've been producing music for years and feel like I haven't really heard it until now. I use powerful monitors in the studio...but lets face it...unless the room is completely silent...or the speakers are blasting loud...I rarely get the opportunity to hear ALL the depth my analog synths and drum machines put out. Then I put these fantastic headphones on, and its like I'm hearing every track for the very first time. Definitely worth the investment. They have monster cables for crying out loud!
Its like bringing the studio sound out into the world. Comfortable and stylish.
I LOVE THEM!!!23 of 27 people found this useful

Pricey, but great quality.
Written by LF from KENNER

These headphones may be pricey, but I think they're worth it. They produce unbelievable sound quality, great noise cancellation, and are very comfortable. The included cable with the integrated microphone is a plus for iphone users.
As for those who experience the hissing sound, for me it is only when the music is paused, which is pretty much standard for most headphones. Also i find that it is not very noticeable when the music has a high frequency encoding. Both music from a cd and music downloaded through iTunes sound amazing.23 of 27 people found this useful

Get some friends who work at best buy!
Written by TL from Scotts Valley
Sep 9, 2008
I just got these headphones the other day from my friend who works at best buy for half off and for the price, they are amazing. If you told me the best headphones in the world were $350 dollars, i wouldn't buy them because at the end of the day, they are just headphones. But for the price i got these at, i couldn't be happier. The description says that "the music you hear in these headphones should sound as good as it did when the artist recorded it" is completely true. So what i'm trying to say is that. 5 Stars for these headphones is what i'm giving them. I don't care if you can get better sound with a different brand. These perform and they are not just a gimmick driven by Dr. Dre/ Monster Corporation. But no headphone should be $350 dollars, so my advice is to get a friend who works at Best Buy.

As much as I hated the Dr Dre Tour earphones, the Studio headphones are phenomenal. The whole range of sound is perfect with especially great bass response without losing the clarity of the high end. Listen for yourself at one of the Apple Stores. You'll be blown away.
