Beats by Dr. Dre Headphones from Monster
Great headphones, with minor flaws.
Written by JR from Scarsdale

I WILL SPECIFICALLY ADDRESS ONLY THE CLAIM THAT THE HEADPHONES ARE GUARANTEED TO BREAK. OK, I travel with my Beats all the time, and i have had them for just about a year. They have not broken, and they will not (knock on wood). If you treat anything badly it will break, just treat them well and they WILL NOT break. If you are going to pay 300 dollars for a pair of great sounding headphones, treat them well.

Beats by Dr. Dre Headphones from Monster
Absolutely incredible sounding
Written by MP from Liberal

Let me just throw this out really fast. There are a ton of audio snobs out there who love to trash these as over priced pieces of trash. It is my opinion that most of these people have never even tried Beats by Dre. Reviews that say "$50 trash headphones" should simply be ignored.
Now to the review - these headphones are incredible. I compared them to several $300 range headphones. In my opinion, they are the best. I listen to rap, electro, classic rock, etc. I particularly recommend these if you like rap / trance stuff. I find that most headphones provide a "flat" experience. These headphones offer incredible depth in sound. I've listened to tracks and have heard details I've previously missed.
The bass is incredible. (10/10) Awesome rumble. Clean & crisp. Does not take away or distort other aspects of the music.
Overall sound quality is excellent. (9/10) I listened to Tiesto's newest track with these cans and was absolutely blown away by the quality of the audio.
Fit quality & comfort is pretty good. (8/10) I wore these for a good hour already. Light pressure. Maybe a little warm around my ears. Other than that, no complaints although I've had one person tell me they felt as if the earphones were a bit tight.
Noise cancellation is good although not like Bose's QC3 headphones. I find these more pleasant than Bose's headphones simply because when you put Bose on you feel a significant difference in your inner ear. I think these headphones offer less cancellation which in turn reduces the noise cancellation irritation some people experience.
Cables, box, etc are very nice as well.
The few things I don't like:
1) Finger prints everywhere.
2) These things leak sound pretty bad. Do not take these to a library at all.
3) Battery cover could have better design.
4) I've heard quite a bit that these headphones crack around the screws. So far so good. Fingers crossed.
5) Overall build could be a little better.
In conclusion, I would highly recommend these cans. I've had 10 people try them on. Nothing but "Ahhhhh" "Ohhhhh" and "Wow!".14 of 17 people found this useful

Well, I bought these headphone... For actually I bought the sound. It does better 999999x than the other headphones ever!
But, even the earcups really soft, it's still hurt my ear parts. And, I tried to pull out the earcups and suddenly it's spread ********************* erm, buzzing noise I meant... It's really hurt my ears =/4 of 43 people found this useful

Amazing Sound Quality

Love these headphones. The bass is incredible and they're very comfortable. My only complaint is that they have minor sound leakage. Fortunately, I have great taste in music, so I look at it as more of a benefit for those around me. Well worth the money and at least as good as my previous pair (Bose) of over ear headphones.

These headphones are good but not great. They give you really really really good bass, have I said really good already? Well anyways some problems i had was that they leak the music, in other words people can hear what you're hearing. They are also not "true" noise cancelling headphones. That being said I'm going to return these for the Bose QC15. There are some draw back such as not have the awesome feature to change song, answer phone calls from the built in remote or pausing songs.

I'm an amature DJ and love House-Music! This Headphones are really not only for Hip-Hop or R'n'B (even if it's incredible, too). The bass hits hard, the mids are awesome and so is the design. A must-have for everyone who loves music and needs convenient headphones!

Beats by Dr. Dre Headphones from Monster
Excellent sound, function, and style, but expensive
Written by JG from Castro Valley

Don't listen to the snobs. The Beats by Dr. Dre provide excellent sound. They compare favorably with the justly-legendary Koss PortaPro headphones; perhaps some might consider they sound slightly better, considering their isolation and depth of timbre. Add to the fact that their noise cancelation excises most steady, droning noise (fans, air conditioning, engine sounds) and their exquisite design, and you have a great audio and fashion accessory to your iPod or iPhone. With its supplied mic-enabled cable, it becomes a usable iPhone headset, which the 25-year-old classic Koss pair can't offer.
The Koss PortaPros come with a lifetime no-questions asked warranty and cost around $50. The Beats by Dr. Dre come with a 3-year limited warranty and cost $300.
I'm keeping my Beats and I'm quite happy with them. They make me enjoy my music collection (not a lot of hip-hop or R&B in it either) more than ever, and I love the utility of the mic cable for my iPhone. But let's not pretend these aren't as much a statement of conspicuous consumption as a piece of audio equipment. You'd buy Beats for the reason you'd buy a MacBook Air.6 of 6 people found this useful

Of course the price point is up there but, the quality and sound is bar none. These headphones have taken me to the places I want to go in the music, with everything else secondary! During this very difficult time in my life, music is a must to mend the broken pieces.

These headphones are amazing. The bass is incredible and they are very comfy. The only thing i found is that in tight quiet areas
they leak noise. The other thing i love about these headphones is that they are great looking. finally no more of that black and grey like bose .4 of 5 people found this useful

Ya its good, but is it worth it? Nope

Placed at the price of $300, I was really curious to know how these headphone sounded like. Luckily, I had a friend who bought one and lend me to try for a week.
First impression, I think it looks incredible, I love the look. The black and red theme worked really well together, but thats just the look, I am more interested in the sound. Then, I realized the noise cancellation, I don't really have any love with NC headphones because it kind of ruins the sound quality... but it won't be a deal-breaker for me. I connected to my iPod touch and played "Bitter Sweet Symphony" right away. Wow... yes... wow, that was only word I could say. Not in a good way, but in a disappointed way. To be honest, they sounded like my $55 portable headphones, the start with the violins were the pretty much the same as my portable AKG K450. Since it's called the "Beats" I expected huge bass, and yes, there was a lot of bass. However, I thought it sounded a bit hollow and empty, not a good impression.
I listened for about 3 hours on different variety of music, U2, Coldplay, Bon Jovi, Kanye West, Akon to Jack Johnson, Bryan Adams and Pink. I even let myself listened to Mozart and Tchaicovsky. And yes, only the more "beat" and "bass" songs sounded good, the others were all disappointing. Probably because of the noise-cancellation. NC headphones only work when you are on a plane, it pretty much blocks out the engine noise. In normal occasions, including public transport, a good closed back headphone (AKG K450 priced with $100) can do the same thing on a bus.
Finally I asked myself, what makes these headphone $300? $300 is fierce, it's hard to imagine this headphone is more expensive than the Sennheiser HD600, Alessandro MS2, Audio Technica ESW9 and puts it awfully close to the AKG K701, which are all headphone supremes. In my opinion, I think this headphones is worth about $150 THE MOST, $300 is overwhelming and unreasonable (like most Monster products). But again, I guess Jay-Z and Monster are selling these to the teenagers who thinks their Skullcandys are too dull and no longer cool enough to bring it too school.19 of 32 people found this useful

The Greatest Sound Quality! Not so good frame!
Written by AR from San Pedro
Oct 1, 2009
Initially as you will hear from others the sound quality on these headphones are off the chart!! The treble is clear and the bass is nothing less of perfect, It will practically rattle your head. Outside sound is no where to be heard, believe you won't be able to hear yourself think. The comfort is on point with its ability to adjust to any size head and the look is flawless. However, the durability of these head phones will disappoint you. The frame seems too flimsy and in just three weeks they snapped near the hinge of the fold panel. That should not be expected when paying over $300 for headphones. My advice is, sound quality and comfort, you won't find anything better. Sturdiness look elsewhere. If you have the money to blow, buy them, you'll love them from the first second you get them. However, if you don't, look for cheaper headphones.

I couldn't decide between the Bose, Shure and AKG, I went to Orlando from Charlotte NC, saw them at one of the innovation stores in airports. Asked every employee at each store. Every single one said THE beats where the best. I finally got them and was so amazed I just wanted to listen to my music on my trip.

Incredible Sound!!!
Written by NM from San Francisco

Wow. Seriously. Wow!
These things are amazing.
I've been producing music for years and feel like I haven't really heard it until now. I use powerful monitors in the studio...but lets face it...unless the room is completely silent...or the speakers are blasting loud...I rarely get the opportunity to hear ALL the depth my analog synths and drum machines put out. Then I put these fantastic headphones on, and its like I'm hearing every track for the very first time. Definitely worth the investment. They have monster cables for crying out loud!
Its like bringing the studio sound out into the world. Comfortable and stylish.
I LOVE THEM!!!23 of 27 people found this useful

DO NOT BUY THESE, HEADBAND GAURANTEED TO BREAK!!!!
Written by AB from Troutdale
Sep 17, 2009
I purchased these after I tried the sample ones in the store and I loved how they sounded. Seeing that the price was a whopping $300 I was expecting that I would be getting my moneys worth, that includes sound and durability of the headphones.
I have nothing against these headphones I think they are high quility performing, great sounding, bass and clarity, these headphones are ideal for people who enjoy listneing to hip hop and R&B.
But dont get fooled into buying these, after about 3 weeks of using these the headband started to crack on the right side where the metal piece is screwed underneath the headband, the top part of the headbands plastic was cracking whenever I wore them on my head and eventually snapped! Before I continue I want to note that I am always gentle with all my possessions and I was especially gentle with my beats and took extra care.
I am highly disappointed and angry that Monster would overprice a product made out of the weakest and cheapest plastic only to find out that the external life of this product doesn't even last for a month. Save ur money and do not purchase these.53 of 79 people found this useful

The best audio product I have ever owned...
Written by JP from Staten Island
Sep 12, 2009
Im going to start this review with the only negative thing I can think of about these headphones; they will make you go deaf. The sound is so amazing on them, it will make you want to listen to every song full blast. Your whole library will sound different once you've heard them on the beats. The sound is blazing, the bass is pounding. It literally sounds as if someone glued subwoofers and speakers to your ears. I highly recommend these headphones. The price is definitely steep compared to the competition, but like Apple products you are paying for superior design and quality.
