These headphones are decent but I still prefer my bose earbuds to these over priced headphones that are endorsed by a rapper.

The Only Review You Will Need
Written by SB from Roslyn Heights
Dec 6, 2009
Sound Quality- You would think this of all things would be the most important aspect of a pair of headphones. Not so with there. I have a paid $150 for a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50's, and they sound better. Not to say the Beats are terrible, they are don't measure up to other headphones in this price range. These will only blow away people used to stock earbuds, etc. 7/10.
Looks- Amazingly sleek and awesome. Just look at the pictures.
Build Quality- Wobbly, unstable, and every time you close them- they make a horrible snapping sound. It feels like you will break them! My left cup slides down all the time. Don't feel like $300 dollar headphones should. 6/10
Comfort- Amazing! Sit on your head perfectly, and enclose your ears. Your ears will never get sweaty, and you will want to wear them for hours on end. A little heavy for headphones but the comfort makes up for it. 10/10.
Noise Canceling- Creates a slight pressure on your ears, uncomfortable at first, but you get used to it. I don't fly often, but I used them on the bus today. Steady frequencies in the lower range are totally canceled. Mid-range and high frequencies are barely muffled. Voices are still there, as are any sudden noises. Only long frequencies (engines, air conditioners, etc.) are affected at all. Bose QC15's do a better job in this category, but create more pressure than the beats. With music all noises are gone, so I don't care. Bose QC15's actually cancel too much. You can't listen to music without the noise canceling on, which requires two AAA batteries. Creates a soft white noise in the background which you quickly forget about. 9/10.
Accessories- Lackluster cleaning cloth, airplane adapter, and horribly manufactured "iSoniTalk" cable. Hard case is ok. 3/10.
Price- These headphones are worth $150. I would consider $200 if I really needed the noise canceling (if I traveled a lot). I know it might be overwhelming, but consider other headphones from brands like Sennheiser, AKG, Grado, etc. They have double the sound quality for half the price.
Who does this appeal to? It appeals to "hip" people ages 10-25. Kids see celebrities or whoever endorses these. It is the "hot" product. Monster charges a ridiculous amount for one reason- people will pay it to look cool. This product has genius marketing behind it, but no actual substance.
Final Thoughts- I returned these. Getting studio headphones made much more sense. Sound that ACTUALLY sound like it does in the studio. Why? Because that is what they made the song on! Not Beats! They cost about half as much, and last forever. They are build solid and have anywhere from 2 to 10 years of warranty. They are actually respected among the audio world, not just fashion accessories. If that doesn't convince you, maybe this will. If you buy a pair of ATH-M50 headphones, they are around 150 dollars. They will sound better, and last longer. What would you buy with the $150 you save?
This was a long review, but I was completely honest. Please rate this review up, so people can read a real review. I didn't bash the Beats, or mindlessly praise them. I gave praise where it was due, and pointed out the flaws. It is up to you to decide.19 of 19 people found this useful

I Love these headphones

If you want headphones just for walking around, then these are for you. But if you want to use these for a studio, i suggest you dont get them. The build of these is very cheap, but the sound quality is oustanding. I got mine on black friday and so far there are no problems with them. Although sound leaks crazy, who really cares? Just remember to take good care of them, put them in the case when your not using them, and turn the power switch off.
Overall i love these headphones. I used to have the normal ipod headset and when i heard these in the store i was blown away. It gives you alot of attention when you walk around with them LOL6 of 9 people found this useful

Great Headphones and comfort
Written by EH from Columbia
Nov 28, 2009
I got these headphones for sale on Black Friday, taking advantage of a $71 discount. The headphones sound amazing, and I'm going back listening to all of my music. Every album has a little note or sound you never picked up on before that you can now hear with the Beats. The overall sound is superb. I've never owned any other high(er) end headphones but comparing them with the stock iPhone buds is like comparing a racecar to a prius.
I bought the black, not only because it was the last model available, but I like the black to match my existing black iPhone. I thought the white ones would only enhance my honky-ness and detract from the overall elegance of the headphones. I love the over ear aspect the cups, as I work at as CSR answering phone calls, its just plain uncomfortable to wear headphones that are ON EAR for 8 hours a day. The comfort level was a must for me and the Beats deliver. The cups fit snug over my ears and after 2 hours of straight listening, I had no discomfort what-so-ever. The size of the headphones might have you think they are large and bulky, evening sporting 2 AAA batteries, but they are not. They are balanced and did not flip and flop off my head at all since I got them. I even use them while I play drums and have not any problems when I get into the music and bob my head.
The noise canceling works really well. For those who are thinking of purchasing these for flights, train travels, etc. I'd highly recommend you look into these over the Solos. The active noise canceling is noticeable when you flip off the power, or just hold the 'mute' button. I really went with these over Bose because of the in-line mic for my iPhone. I wish there were more options for over ear headphones with the mic built in, but sadly there's not. The Beats, however, are a great offering to fill that need.
Overall they have solid sound, great comfort and stylish looks. I only gave it a 4/5 star rating because of the price. I got them on sale for 229.99 and I still think that's a lot for 'phones but maybe I'm cheap.8 of 9 people found this useful

Great headphones, with minor flaws.
Written by JR from Scarsdale
Nov 23, 2009
I WILL SPECIFICALLY ADDRESS ONLY THE CLAIM THAT THE HEADPHONES ARE GUARANTEED TO BREAK. OK, I travel with my Beats all the time, and i have had them for just about a year. They have not broken, and they will not (knock on wood). If you treat anything badly it will break, just treat them well and they WILL NOT break. If you are going to pay 300 dollars for a pair of great sounding headphones, treat them well.

Beats by Dr. Dre Headphones from Monster
Absolutely incredible sounding
Written by MP from Liberal
Nov 14, 2009
Let me just throw this out really fast. There are a ton of audio snobs out there who love to trash these as over priced pieces of trash. It is my opinion that most of these people have never even tried Beats by Dre. Reviews that say "$50 trash headphones" should simply be ignored.
Now to the review - these headphones are incredible. I compared them to several $300 range headphones. In my opinion, they are the best. I listen to rap, electro, classic rock, etc. I particularly recommend these if you like rap / trance stuff. I find that most headphones provide a "flat" experience. These headphones offer incredible depth in sound. I've listened to tracks and have heard details I've previously missed.
The bass is incredible. (10/10) Awesome rumble. Clean & crisp. Does not take away or distort other aspects of the music.
Overall sound quality is excellent. (9/10) I listened to Tiesto's newest track with these cans and was absolutely blown away by the quality of the audio.
Fit quality & comfort is pretty good. (8/10) I wore these for a good hour already. Light pressure. Maybe a little warm around my ears. Other than that, no complaints although I've had one person tell me they felt as if the earphones were a bit tight.
Noise cancellation is good although not like Bose's QC3 headphones. I find these more pleasant than Bose's headphones simply because when you put Bose on you feel a significant difference in your inner ear. I think these headphones offer less cancellation which in turn reduces the noise cancellation irritation some people experience.
Cables, box, etc are very nice as well.
The few things I don't like:
1) Finger prints everywhere.
2) These things leak sound pretty bad. Do not take these to a library at all.
3) Battery cover could have better design.
4) I've heard quite a bit that these headphones crack around the screws. So far so good. Fingers crossed.
5) Overall build could be a little better.
In conclusion, I would highly recommend these cans. I've had 10 people try them on. Nothing but "Ahhhhh" "Ohhhhh" and "Wow!".33 of 39 people found this useful

Well, I bought these headphone... For actually I bought the sound. It does better 999999x than the other headphones ever!
But, even the earcups really soft, it's still hurt my ear parts. And, I tried to pull out the earcups and suddenly it's spread ********************* erm, buzzing noise I meant... It's really hurt my ears =/5 of 58 people found this useful

Love these headphones. The bass is incredible and they're very comfortable. My only complaint is that they have minor sound leakage. Fortunately, I have great taste in music, so I look at it as more of a benefit for those around me. Well worth the money and at least as good as my previous pair (Bose) of over ear headphones.

These headphones are good but not great. They give you really really really good bass, have I said really good already? Well anyways some problems i had was that they leak the music, in other words people can hear what you're hearing. They are also not "true" noise cancelling headphones. That being said I'm going to return these for the Bose QC15. There are some draw back such as not have the awesome feature to change song, answer phone calls from the built in remote or pausing songs.

I'm an amature DJ and love House-Music! This Headphones are really not only for Hip-Hop or R'n'B (even if it's incredible, too). The bass hits hard, the mids are awesome and so is the design. A must-have for everyone who loves music and needs convenient headphones!

Beats by Dr. Dre Headphones from Monster
Excellent sound, function, and style, but expensive
Written by JG from Castro Valley

Don't listen to the snobs. The Beats by Dr. Dre provide excellent sound. They compare favorably with the justly-legendary Koss PortaPro headphones; perhaps some might consider they sound slightly better, considering their isolation and depth of timbre. Add to the fact that their noise cancelation excises most steady, droning noise (fans, air conditioning, engine sounds) and their exquisite design, and you have a great audio and fashion accessory to your iPod or iPhone. With its supplied mic-enabled cable, it becomes a usable iPhone headset, which the 25-year-old classic Koss pair can't offer.
The Koss PortaPros come with a lifetime no-questions asked warranty and cost around $50. The Beats by Dr. Dre come with a 3-year limited warranty and cost $300.
I'm keeping my Beats and I'm quite happy with them. They make me enjoy my music collection (not a lot of hip-hop or R&B in it either) more than ever, and I love the utility of the mic cable for my iPhone. But let's not pretend these aren't as much a statement of conspicuous consumption as a piece of audio equipment. You'd buy Beats for the reason you'd buy a MacBook Air.8 of 9 people found this useful

Of course the price point is up there but, the quality and sound is bar none. These headphones have taken me to the places I want to go in the music, with everything else secondary! During this very difficult time in my life, music is a must to mend the broken pieces.

These headphones are amazing. The bass is incredible and they are very comfy. The only thing i found is that in tight quiet areas
they leak noise. The other thing i love about these headphones is that they are great looking. finally no more of that black and grey like bose .4 of 5 people found this useful

Ya its good, but is it worth it? Nope
Written by CS

Placed at the price of $300, I was really curious to know how these headphone sounded like. Luckily, I had a friend who bought one and lend me to try for a week.
First impression, I think it looks incredible, I love the look. The black and red theme worked really well together, but thats just the look, I am more interested in the sound. Then, I realized the noise cancellation, I don't really have any love with NC headphones because it kind of ruins the sound quality... but it won't be a deal-breaker for me. I connected to my iPod touch and played "Bitter Sweet Symphony" right away. Wow... yes... wow, that was only word I could say. Not in a good way, but in a disappointed way. To be honest, they sounded like my $55 portable headphones, the start with the violins were the pretty much the same as my portable AKG K450. Since it's called the "Beats" I expected huge bass, and yes, there was a lot of bass. However, I thought it sounded a bit hollow and empty, not a good impression.
I listened for about 3 hours on different variety of music, U2, Coldplay, Bon Jovi, Kanye West, Akon to Jack Johnson, Bryan Adams and Pink. I even let myself listened to Mozart and Tchaicovsky. And yes, only the more "beat" and "bass" songs sounded good, the others were all disappointing. Probably because of the noise-cancellation. NC headphones only work when you are on a plane, it pretty much blocks out the engine noise. In normal occasions, including public transport, a good closed back headphone (AKG K450 priced with $100) can do the same thing on a bus.
Finally I asked myself, what makes these headphone $300? $300 is fierce, it's hard to imagine this headphone is more expensive than the Sennheiser HD600, Alessandro MS2, Audio Technica ESW9 and puts it awfully close to the AKG K701, which are all headphone supremes. In my opinion, I think this headphones is worth about $150 THE MOST, $300 is overwhelming and unreasonable (like most Monster products). But again, I guess Jay-Z and Monster are selling these to the teenagers who thinks their Skullcandys are too dull and no longer cool enough to bring it too school.22 of 40 people found this useful
