Beats by Dr. Dre Headphones from Monster
Mediocre w/ Brand Name
Written by HL from Seattle
Mar 7, 2009
As the title, Monster has become Bose.
I can't understand why this phones are getting 4 star.
The bass is overpowering the details, there is basically no detail at all and it's not that hard to differentiate a good phones w/ a bad ones like this Dr.Dre's
I suggest you to take your time and try better headphones out there such as : Sennheiser HD650 or Grado phones. It's not that hard, really...
So, there is no detail at all, low mid and high are scattered all over the place.
I won't spend more that $50 for this phones, and yes I have tried this phones but there is no way I would spend my $$ for this.21 of 57 people found this useful

Its not alot of headphones that can catch the highs, and deep bass like beats if thats what u looking for i highly recommend!! save your money and get you one!!!!!!!!

Once you put them one, there is no sound. Absolutely quite. Then you turn the music on, and you can hear perfect music.

Absolute worst headphones EVER
Written by GM from Cos Cob
Feb 22, 2009
I'll begin with the sound quality. its alright. yea its obviously good, you're spending 300+ dollars but its nothing that says "these headphones are out of this world." Within ONE week of owning these headphones, the plastic on the top snapped in half because they are made of the cheapest material on earth. I am very careful with expensive things that I purchase, and these headphones broke even with my extreme attentiveness. Seriously, for a company to charge the money they do for these headphones and to use such second-rate quality is just unacceptable in my opinion. Also the wires are just as substandard. Within a months use I was already having problems with only hearing music in one ear.
Save your money and buy something else. These headphones are very low-grade.69 of 110 people found this useful

Not worth Price
Written by TP from Los Gatos
Feb 21, 2009
Ok sound. Pretty Load. But not worth the 350 $ price tag. I own pairs of the Bose Qc 3 and Skullcrushers by skullcandy. They Both deliver amazing sound, Noise Cancling amazingness. If your looking toward a heavy bass with good sound go with skullcrushers. If looking for amazing highs and lows, go with Bose. But I would not recomment overly bulky, pricy, and noise leaking headphones.

Best headphones that I've ever bought.
Written by AS from Abbotsford
Feb 11, 2009
Beats by dr. dre headphones are the best headphones I've ever bought. I'm not so sure why people are so negative in their reviews.. here are some of the things that I like about the headphones: The bass is low, smooth and thumps like your in a central european club. The look is hot, simple, clean and draws a lot of attention. The sound quality is outstanding even when cranked up to the max which is ridiculously loud.. I was listening to a song with soundcheck on and turned it off; it was a mistake haha let me tell you. I highly recomend these headphones for anyone looking for something to listen to music with, they aren't studio quiality but still beat anything else on the public shelves. If your on a tight budget then dont look twice at these because they do cost a fair bit. Go buy some skullcandy or something lol.

Only Needs One Improvement
Written by RM from Maitland
Feb 8, 2009
This set of headphones has by far the best sound quality i have heard...ever...I have heard details in music in these headphones that i have not heard on a $5000 home theater system. Unfortunately i had to bring them back to the store, these headphones were not designed for physically active people at all, while jogging all i could hear when the music got quiet was the sound of my feet hitting the ground. They need to add the capability of turning off the noise canceling, if this was there i would not have had to return them.

It's good but not great
Written by FV from Honolulu
Feb 3, 2009
It needs a few improvements. Like making the noise cancellation more effective and better insulation so the sound won't leak a lot. I want an on/off button for the noise cancellation. I don't like the fact that I can't use it unless the noise cancel is on.I love the design and it sounds good. But if monster produce one with the improvements I mentioned. I would buy that definitely.

I love my new Beats, the vocals and bass you hear are amazing and the headphones are very stylish. If you are looking for headphones that do not leak sound these aren't for you, but if you don't mind the leakage these are great. The price is high but the quality is amazing

Believe it
Written by EJ from Pittsburgh
Jan 28, 2009
If you believe the negative reviews on this site then you don't deserve to own or listen to Beats. Beats are by far THE best I've purchased commercially. I deal with sound all day and I'm fairly certain that people must be deaf or just don't know what they're talking about. The highs are crisp and clear, the lows are deep and robust. Does dr dre wear these, probably not I'm sure his studio muffs cost a lot more. The point is, for consumers this is the best product, for pros it's above average. My only negative comment is that the left ear rattles during walking and not the right as most other reviewers noted. In my opinion this flaw should never have left the design floor without being corrected. Come on guys how hard is it? I noticed it within 2 min of owning the product.

Best of the Best
Written by SO from SAN FRANCISCO
Jan 27, 2009
I have had these for a few days now and have nothing but good things to say. I was also looking at the Bose QC3 and am glad I made my decision to buy these. First off, I would rather have AAA batteries for long flights, they are easier to replace and on 12 hour flights, you might need that option. The quality of the headphones is great as well. Although you should be gentle, they are pretty sturdy. The sound quality quality blows you away the second you put them at a moderate volume. Every instrument, note, vocal can be distinctly heard. I am not a big fan of Monster after learning about their mark-ups on HDMI cables, etc, but I have to say, this is well worth the price.

CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE MUSIC LOVER'S SOUL
Written by MG from New York
Jan 24, 2009
Ok.. I'm a professional deejay and have had enough experience with headphones. Had 3 pairs of Sonys which sounded crisp (all broke), 2 pairs of Technics which sounded warmer (broke too), Shure SE530 in-ears (loved but lost ON an airplane!), V-Modas (hated) etc.
I am not one to write reviews, but I just got these in the mail & can say that I am truly blown away. I ran a comparison test to my current Allen & Heath XONEs, and the beats destroyed them.
In my line of work, I play everything from Hip Hop to Rock to Fela, and listening to all these different genres on these headphones, I haven't been disappointed. I even tried them with the Nutcracker Pas De Deux and heard the arm movements of the violinists plucking, and the conductor taking a breath in! I could even tell what side of the room each instrument was.
I haven't taken these off my head yet. I'm hearing elements I didn't hear before and it's opened me up to more creative possibilities. Plus I love the fact that they come with an iPhone mic cord so I can rock these in the street. But I have to agree with someone who said they might hate you on the A train! =)

Pricey, but great quality.
Written by LF from KENNER
Jan 22, 2009
These headphones may be pricey, but I think they're worth it. They produce unbelievable sound quality, great noise cancellation, and are very comfortable. The included cable with the integrated microphone is a plus for iphone users.
As for those who experience the hissing sound, for me it is only when the music is paused, which is pretty much standard for most headphones. Also i find that it is not very noticeable when the music has a high frequency encoding. Both music from a cd and music downloaded through iTunes sound amazing.23 of 27 people found this useful

Awesome Head Phones
Written by ND from Guelph
Jan 22, 2009
These head phones are great. I have used all sorts of headphones and the sound on these are the best. The noise canceling are not quite as good as Bose quiet comforts but the quality is much better. These are not studio headphones so the don't compare them to AKG's like several posts have. These for anybody who wants to hear the music the way it was meant to sound. The only problem is once you listen on these your prospective of musical sound changes and will hate listening to anything on poor quality ear buds or bad speakers.

It's Like I Never Heard the Music Before
Written by CC from New York
Jan 22, 2009
I have never bothered to write a product review before, but feel compelled, because these headphones are totally amazing. Every element in a track can be heard discretely and accurately. Compared to these my old headphones sound like a muddled mess. They sound absolutely great whether I listen to a work for chorus and orchestra, rock, rap, whatever. These headphones are so good I want to go back and hear all my favorite music in detail for the first time. They do seem to especially shine for listening to tracks with lots of tracks, many of which have intricate detail that was previously hidden to me without these amazing headphones. The mic for the iphone seems to work just fine. The mute button is a nice feature for when you just want to shut of sound for a few seconds. I was skeptical that a pair of headphones could be worth this price tag, but bought them because I wanted something nice that would work with my iphone. Given that I can enjoy my favorite music at a whole new level, that is worth every penny.
