I love this product because of its features. Its so cool how you can create your own creatures, and make your own worlds. You can also fly throughout the galaxy to visit so many other planets with different creatures, and declare war to certain planets. In my experience as a video gamer , i really recommend this game.

    BEST GAME EVER

    Written by AC from Jacksonville

I have been waiting for this game to come out for at least 3 years and they kept postponing the release date, and it was well worth the wait! I was so excited when i found out that it was going to be released on the mac too. Spore is a game that allows the player to create creatures and planets and explore and alter the galaxy. The power that the player gets in this game are endless and i've never played a game that game anywhere close to this. fun for all ages. i highly, HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend this game.....

Smooth and Flawless gameplay so far...

I played this game for quite a bit down at the Penny Arcade Expo, and was enthralled by it. It truly is a masterpiece in the making. I was particularly intrigued by the depth of the open world, and the level of detail put into almost every part. When you are at the lower levels of the food chain, and are scavenging for food, it seems as if you could explore anything and see the level of work put into the game. The games ability to bring you to a microscopic level without resorting to a side scrolling adventure really set it apart for me. Up, down, side to side, and every angle of your environment could be explored. I look forward to delving deeper into the game with my own copy soon enough.

Without any doubt... the best game I've ever played!

I remember the day I played Super Mario when I was 4 years old... I felt like discovering something new, level after level. Now it seems rather boring because each of the levels were the same after playing it 200 times.

But with this game is different, and with different I mean veeeeery different! Everything depends on you, on how you feed your creature, on how you create it! Everything, everyday, something new will happen! But all of this because of you, as the creature depends on you, it will evolve into something to adapt for living, from a single cell organism to a spaceship commander, discovering new planets, solar systems and galaxies.

Trying to conquer the universe is a very long task, so long, that I would describe it as "endless". And that's what the game is: "endless", apart from being the best game in the universe (seriously). I extremely recommend this game to everyone!

    Slow - almost boring

    Written by TL

Come on what is with all the hype? I bought this game thinking it was going to be so fun. It really is a slow paced game. The first part where you have to swim around gobbling up microbes is really really boring. I think the graphics are good and the customization of creatures can be fun but the game seems really boring. And anyways who has the time to spend hours playing this?

    Super Game VERY High Quality!

This is a super great game (Game?) It was created with so much care, it really shines. It makes you think, since your actions have such a massive effect on the current and future game play. The Graphics are wonderful, the sound is A+. This Game plays nicely on my 2.2Ghz Core 2 Duo Black MacBook with 2GB ram. If you have been looking for a new game after wearing out SimCity 4, you should give this a try. It has a completely new game engine (3D) which is a good thing since it runs quite well under the suggested required systems, unlike SimCity 3000 and SimCity 4 which NEVER ran well even on high end systems that were released YEARs after the game came out! MUST BUY!

This game is so awesome! You start as a basic creature and work you way all the way up to space. But you don't just play your character you create him, and the building, and the cars, and boats and spaceships, EVERYTHING! It's Great!

    Almost there

    Written by DL from SASKATOON

    Sep 11, 2008

Overall this game is above average and falls just short of greatness. If more time would have been spent on the space stage in particular this game would have made 4 stars for me. The space stage is well done but hampered severely by the pestering of small insignificant missions. If EA would have took the space age to the next level and tweaked it a bit and then added to the other levels a bit of planet variety this game could have easily been a 5 out of 5.

Without that, I find my 2nd run through of the game very repetitive and lacking re-playability compared to some other best in class games in the RTS / strategy variety.

It can't get much better than this!

    Written by WM from Celebration

    Sep 11, 2008

Seriously though! It really can't get much better. The game has something for every gamer, and that is key for a video game. Spore is a game that it is really hard to fathom how hard it was to make this come true, and also really hard to fathom what to do next.

Each step of the game is crucial to your future in game. You almost have to sit down, and plan out what you want to do, or where you want the spike to go on your creature! This is the game that will revolutionize the industry in the future. From the creators of The Sims, Will Wright and Maxis brings you the most anticipated game in 5 years, Spore.

    Well done, Well done.

    Best Game for Mac!

    Written by SM from Cahokia

    Sep 13, 2008

I bought this game at the Apple Store at the Mall of America, and it was the best purchase since my Macbook Pro! I love how fun it is, and the new idea. I can see similarities with The Sims universe and the game runs so smoothly. Although it was a mess waiting for this game over the years, but it was worth the wait. I rate this game 5 stars because of how fun it is, how well it runs on my machine, and the awesome new idea for game concept. It's the most fun for Mac. I recommend you go and buy it.

    One account per copy?!

    Written by TM from Brunswick

    Sep 15, 2008

If I install my copy, my sons and wife can't play. Because of EA's stupid DRM, I'd need to purchase each of them their own copy. Stupid, as much as I want to play, thats unacceptable. Shame EA.

Returning for a refund. Hopefully they'll get the message (look at the amazon reviews) and patch.

Crashes during loading of civilization stage...

Written by DS from Altamonte Springs

    Sep 15, 2008

Loved this game... from the cell stage through the creature stage, where the possibilities seem limitless, on to the tribal stage... but then, exception error, can't advance to the civilization stage no matter how many times I try. Running the game on a brand new Mac, and I get a division by zero error and the game exits to the desktop every time. Put a ticket in to EA Games... waiting for a reply. Sure would love to evolve!

This game is awesome except for one thing: AFTER A FEW DAYS IT WON'T START UP!! i played it for 5 glorious days. Then a little error message appeared and now i can't boot it up. I think it might have something to do with my computer. I know it's not the graphics card. if you own a pre-08 macbook or macbook pro, stay away until they manage to fix it. That or install it on boot camp if accessible.

Save your money - Just doesn't live up to the hype... not even close.

    Written by MM from Grovetown

    Sep 16, 2008

Stage 1 - "Cell Stage": subpar-controls for a game much less exciting than pac-man.

Stage 2 - "Animal": just as boring and mind numbing. Bad transition Oh.. you had 13 flippers in the water? Well, now you have two legs and are a omnivore instead of the carnivore you were before... why? no reason

Stage 3 - "village" Basically now you've got a chief with some "followers" you get to pick clothes for... no more adding limbs

Stage 4 - "Civilization" happy days... you have cities instead of villages... do stage 3 again... except design buildings

Stage 5 - "Space" finally a little challenge and entertainment... but just a little. I got to the space stage in... 5 hours? Still very repetitive... how many times can one planet get hit by freaking pirates?

Ok, right out of the box it hangs on the splash screen... you have to go in and remove the "cider_noui" file... why? no clue, but it works.

I would have been disappointed spending...$20 let alone the... close to $60. I'd return the stupid game but that would be just sucking up more time to be wasted on this game...

    Written by DC from Madison

    Sep 17, 2008

guys, you need to stop screwing up the rating of the game with reviews about how your computer crashes, or how you're mad at EA for making you buy multiple copies. This is a review about the game!

overall it is a great game with a great story line and great gameplay. It is worth the 50 bucks

    DIDN'T WORK

    Written by CD

    Sep 17, 2008

I bought the Galactic Edition from my local Apple Store. When I tried to install is on my MacBook, It would not even let me open the installer! I thought it was just an issue with my graphics card or something. So, I tried to install it on our PC with Windows Vista. I was able to open the installer this time, but something went wrong in the installation process, where it said an error occured and I had to cancel the installation. I tried several mor times, but that always happened. I would have given it one star, but due to the exellence of the Creature Creator (which worked on my MacBook), it gets two.

ex-PC gamer turned Mac User, Thumbs up

Written by SW from North Vancouver

    Sep 18, 2008

I've recently purchased a MbPro for audio editing and being my first Mac purchase ever I was skeptical about how games actually run on Macs. So I ran out and picked up Spore as soon as I heard about it... this game runs sharp and smooth, and the options to how you want your creature to evolve and look is worth the price tag itself.
As for some people concerned if this would work on your older mac, if you don't have a 512+ video card and 2g or more ram I would advise against purchasing... if you DO have the fore-mentioned specs, go get your evolve on.

AWESOME GAME, VERY DEEP PHILOSOPHICALLY SPEAKING, BUT GREAT FUN

Written by MV from Los teques

    Sep 18, 2008

As many people I was waiting for this game. I heard you would be able to create creatures and meake them evolve since the cell state to a civilization. I thought it was difficult to fill those expectations for the game creators, but I have to say that Spore is way over my expectations.
Not only cause they made it possible exactly as they said it would but the graphics run so smoothly on my mac, and the game has a great, sharp, beautiful look on the screen.
It worth totally the money. I must say that the social features of registering are cool too. They store all your creatures, sessions, you can keep track of the evolution of your game always.
A MUST HAVE GAME: TRULY REVOLUTIONARY.
