One account per copy?!
Written by TM from Brunswick
Sep 15, 2008
If I install my copy, my sons and wife can't play. Because of EA's stupid DRM, I'd need to purchase each of them their own copy. Stupid, as much as I want to play, thats unacceptable. Shame EA.
Returning for a refund. Hopefully they'll get the message (look at the amazon reviews) and patch.1795 of 2348 people found this useful

BEST GAME EVER
Written by AC from Jacksonville

I have been waiting for this game to come out for at least 3 years and they kept postponing the release date, and it was well worth the wait! I was so excited when i found out that it was going to be released on the mac too. Spore is a game that allows the player to create creatures and planets and explore and alter the galaxy. The power that the player gets in this game are endless and i've never played a game that game anywhere close to this. fun for all ages. i highly, HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend this game.....

Smooth and Flawless gameplay so far...

I played this game for quite a bit down at the Penny Arcade Expo, and was enthralled by it. It truly is a masterpiece in the making. I was particularly intrigued by the depth of the open world, and the level of detail put into almost every part. When you are at the lower levels of the food chain, and are scavenging for food, it seems as if you could explore anything and see the level of work put into the game. The games ability to bring you to a microscopic level without resorting to a side scrolling adventure really set it apart for me. Up, down, side to side, and every angle of your environment could be explored. I look forward to delving deeper into the game with my own copy soon enough.

AWESOME GAME, VERY DEEP PHILOSOPHICALLY SPEAKING, BUT GREAT FUN

As many people I was waiting for this game. I heard you would be able to create creatures and meake them evolve since the cell state to a civilization. I thought it was difficult to fill those expectations for the game creators, but I have to say that Spore is way over my expectations.
Not only cause they made it possible exactly as they said it would but the graphics run so smoothly on my mac, and the game has a great, sharp, beautiful look on the screen.
It worth totally the money. I must say that the social features of registering are cool too. They store all your creatures, sessions, you can keep track of the evolution of your game always.
A MUST HAVE GAME: TRULY REVOLUTIONARY.115 of 138 people found this useful

Without any doubt... the best game I've ever played!
Written by HR

I remember the day I played Super Mario when I was 4 years old... I felt like discovering something new, level after level. Now it seems rather boring because each of the levels were the same after playing it 200 times.
But with this game is different, and with different I mean veeeeery different! Everything depends on you, on how you feed your creature, on how you create it! Everything, everyday, something new will happen! But all of this because of you, as the creature depends on you, it will evolve into something to adapt for living, from a single cell organism to a spaceship commander, discovering new planets, solar systems and galaxies.
Trying to conquer the universe is a very long task, so long, that I would describe it as "endless". And that's what the game is: "endless", apart from being the best game in the universe (seriously). I extremely recommend this game to everyone!114 of 138 people found this useful

The World's greatest game
Written by JE from Montclair

Spore is amazing, starting as a defenseless cell swimming, then evolving to grow spikes, cilia, and eventually into a land creature. As you now hunt or socialize, or both, on land, your brain grows and evolve with new parts and you start to grasp the idea, "I make things happen!" You form a tribe and ally or conquer other tribes. Along the tribal stage, you collect new tools, change the outfits of your tribe, and become the dominate species. This leads you to battle with other cities of your won species in the civilization stage. This stage grants you power by economic skill, religious control, or pure militaristic strategy. Once you have your hold on all cities, you build a starship. Fly out into the space, and take over the galaxy, just as you have taken over your planet...

Dissapointing game play
Written by BC from Folsom
Sep 23, 2008
I have been waiting for this game for years, and bought it the day it was released. I spent an entire afternoon playing with it, all the way to the Space stage... and have not really touched it since.
Someone else described it best as "the world's largest kiddie pool. 5 miles wide and three feet deep."
I'd add... as designed by Disney.
Once you realize that most of the changes you make, such as the shape, color, and to a large degree, the behavior, or your creature doesn't matter except as an animation, it becomes less interesting. Adding more legs does not change the speed. Longer or stronger arms does not affect combat. Changing the eyes does not affect vision.
Pretty much no matter what you do, you'll always end up in the same place.
And that gets boring too quickly.

I seriously think this game has more re-playability value then Sid Meier's Civilization Series. For those who say it is a wear-out after 2 days, the person doesn't have a clue about creature creation. I,definitely, would recommend this product whose brain is on the creative edge not the literal side of mind.

The only people are giving this a bad review is the DRM thats in the game. (Google it) But this game is very fun. You start from cell and move up through the evolution path. You can control everything.

I have the new iMac, 2.4 core 2 duo with 4g of ram ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT 128mb
You think that would be enough to run this game on medium settings, your wrong. I have to play the game on its lowest settings and still is not running smooth. Crashes often too, always after I have been playing for an hour, with out saving, and loose all my progress. No auto save. But a fun game non the less113 of 166 people found this useful

Definitely Entertaining
Written by VH from East Brunswick

To be completely honest, Spore is very creative, but if you're looking for intensive gameplay or something like Sims this game is not for you. What Spore really is, is about five different smaller games (or evolutionary stages) put together to form one larger game. I think this makes the game more interesting, but suffering through your least favorite stage can be repetitive and boring. This is OK though, because you advance to another stage fairly quickly. Space stage by far is the hardest and this is where gameplay becomes a little slow. Otherwise the game is great.
The creature possibilities are endless, and the game itself is easy enough to catch onto. I have fun whenever I play.

Not Impressed
Written by PF from WEST HOLLYWOOD
Oct 6, 2008
Beware that this game has a frightening digital rights management system (DRM) that prevents you from installing it more than three times or selling it to another party when you're done with it without giving them your personal information and having your name linked with the account. Forever.
I have a MacBook Pro 2.4 dual core with 4GB ram and the 256 Video and still have problems with the planets rendering properly and the game frequently crashing.
The game play itself is quickly stale and not much fun when slogging through frequent technical problems.
I do NOT recommend this game. I recommend saving your money for something else if you can. If you have played World of Warcraft and expect that level of integration and performance you'll be sadly disappointed.

Yeah, it`s impressive the hability of creating everything but, it`s also impressive in a negative way the fact that you can`t create more than one account per EA code.In my opinion it`s a great game but it gets limited with the account issue.

This is a GREAT game :)!!!!
Worth *every* penny!! How much do you pay to see a 1.5 hour movie? This is a better "investment" than gong to a couple of movies!
Hours of fun and discovery, cool graphics, etc. Just buy it! And play :)
I haven't had so much fun with a game since Claymation!

ex-PC gamer turned Mac User, Thumbs up

I've recently purchased a MbPro for audio editing and being my first Mac purchase ever I was skeptical about how games actually run on Macs. So I ran out and picked up Spore as soon as I heard about it... this game runs sharp and smooth, and the options to how you want your creature to evolve and look is worth the price tag itself.
As for some people concerned if this would work on your older mac, if you don't have a 512+ video card and 2g or more ram I would advise against purchasing... if you DO have the fore-mentioned specs, go get your evolve on.81 of 115 people found this useful

Crashes during loading of civilization stage...
Written by DS from Altamonte Springs

Loved this game... from the cell stage through the creature stage, where the possibilities seem limitless, on to the tribal stage... but then, exception error, can't advance to the civilization stage no matter how many times I try. Running the game on a brand new Mac, and I get a division by zero error and the game exits to the desktop every time. Put a ticket in to EA Games... waiting for a reply. Sure would love to evolve!

Best Game Ever Built!
Written by AT from Billings
Nov 9, 2008
I got Spore as a gift, and was so excited. (I had been wanting it for a long time.) Once I got all set up, the game was so cool! Create your own cell, evolve to a creature, gain intelligence and evolve to tribe, then raise another brain level to civilization, where you can destroy, trade, or befriend a different city, and then become smarter still to evolve to the space stage, where you can colonize other galaxies, planets, etc. The only downside of the game is registering an account (optional). You have to be 13 or older to register, but it totally pays off. I reccomend it for every game lover.
