What are you people talking about? This game works amazing with Snow Leopard!! I just got the new 21.5 inch iMac and installed it it worked FINE!!!!! It might not work if u instal it in Leopard and then upgraded. But I installed it on Snow Leopard and it works perfect! One thing I HAVE NOT PATCHED IT and I don't know if I should.

Very neat game!

First for the ones that keep on complaining about incompatibility with Snow Leopard - I have NO clue what you are doing wrong. The game installed perfectly on my iMac (OS: 10.6.1) and runs very smooth.
Regards to the game - great replay value as no replay is the same. The game allows you to create pretty much anything, from your buildings to the way you look and so on.
I highly recommend this game for the ones who like to be creative with their gameplay.
One advice, at the end of your installation process the game might try to download the same patch twice or more times, so watch what version patch you are about download before you click the "Yes" button.

I realy like the game, I can use a MacBook with a "GMA 950" graphic card!
I love the game, but when you have completen it twice, it is not as fun as it startet with, but I will give it 5 out of 5 stars because, it is very fun to create and there is no other games like that!
Very good graphics if your Mac/PC can run it, if it can, buy it!!14 of 23 people found this useful

Amazing. Put simply.

This is the most amazing game EVER. By ever I mean a capital E, V, E, and R. You not only play this game, you ARE this game. You become the game. In cell, it is like a more fun version of Pack-Man, and in the next stage you are shocked by the graphics. In tribe, you fight for survival, and in civilization, you dominate the planet. In space, you try to to take over the galaxy. All in all it is an amazing game.

Spore: Minor flaws, otherwise a great game
Written by RE from Calgary
Jan 29, 2009
Spore overall, is an amazing game, but most give up on it too easily. Spore runs through several different styles of gaming throughout its five stages. One of it's biggest flaws though, is the difficulty to earn DNA in cell stage, and the severe hand cramp. The feel of routine in creature stage is the most annoying though. Although they put most of their time into the creation of the space stage, the rest of it, although short, is incredibly addicting. The thing that most people lose tollerence for, is getting a start in space stage. It takes tons of time, but once you get the start, it is well worth the work. Online spore is nothing great, unless you want memory consumed on hundreds of unrequested downloads. All in all, spore has minor flaws that can be forgiven or overlooked.

Spore kept my 14 year old son and 9 year old son playing together on an "out of school snow day" without fussing once. Horrible to admit but while I worked from home they played from 9 am to 6 pm conquering one world after another--working together--again, without fussing. Fascinating, interactive and stellar graphics. Imaginations run wild. Pricey but worth every penny.

Best Game Ever! Get it!
Written by AP from Sleepy Hollow

I do agree with TM from Brunswick that the registration policy is very annoying. I am waiting for my new mac to come in the mail, so I wanted to play the game in the mean time on my friends computer, however I was totally bummed when I found that you could only play the game on one computer, so just remember this. However on the upside, THIS IS THE BEST GAME EVER! It involves so many aspects and gaming types, driving, flying, fighting, designing, strategy, 2D side scrolling in the cell stage... Everything you could possibly want in a game, amazing graphics, seamless controls! I recommend buying the guide and spore creature creator with it to enhance your spore experience.

Fantastic game!
Written by DB from Seattle
Dec 18, 2008
This is the first computer game I've been compelled to play in years, and it's fantastic! There are so many ways to play it that you can really make it your own. A great deal of the game is built around creating your own imaginative world, by creating creatures, buildings, clothing styles, vehicles, etc. Your strategy depends on your playing style (are you a pacifist or a warlord, vegetarian or carnivore, friendly neighbor or provocative one?) The game play lasts a very long time, especially if you enjoy the creation process, and once you've run the course of one species, you can start at the beginning and play a completely different kind of creature, and thus a totally different game.
The only thing I don't like is that while it is running, it is the only thing your computer is doing (no multi-tasking email, working on documents, etc). But maybe that's a bonus, as it ensures being transported into a whole new strange world.34 of 36 people found this useful

Spore: Big Brain
Written by JR
Dec 14, 2008
This is a great game that actually can teach people the story of humans. First, we were little cells and then we got bigger. Eventually, we were cave people (like the creature stage) Then we figured out how to make little huts and became Indians (like the tribal stage) and then we learned how to make ranged weapons and ships and big, strong buildings (like the civilization stage) then we launched rockets with NASA (like the space stage). So this is basically the story of humans but you look different and it is a great game.

Best Game Ever Built!
Written by AT from Billings
Nov 9, 2008
I got Spore as a gift, and was so excited. (I had been wanting it for a long time.) Once I got all set up, the game was so cool! Create your own cell, evolve to a creature, gain intelligence and evolve to tribe, then raise another brain level to civilization, where you can destroy, trade, or befriend a different city, and then become smarter still to evolve to the space stage, where you can colonize other galaxies, planets, etc. The only downside of the game is registering an account (optional). You have to be 13 or older to register, but it totally pays off. I reccomend it for every game lover.

Endless playability.
Written by PH from Cascade
Nov 2, 2008
Ok, so, yes, this game's release has been marred by the activation limiting DRM, and yes, it does have some glitches. But come on, seriously, those things are small, small details.
I bought this game after having heard all the bad things about the DRM, the buggy gameplay, the limited phases of gameplay...I bought it with fairly low expectations, really. But I am 100% glad I bought it, for Spore is one of the greatest computer games I have ever played.
The phases of gameplay leading up to the space stage are definitely not that deep, but that's okay. Spore's real appeal lies in the space stage anyway, and they definitely succeed in that respect. The galaxy is massive, open-ended, and richly detailed. There are any number of ways to play through the space stage. And the massively-single player features add a layer of community to a game where you can basically create anything.
Yeah, there are some bugs. I play this game on my MacBook Pro, with the latest version of Leopard and 4 gigs of RAM, and even on this computer, it's a little buggy. I've had my fair share of crashes. But don't let that scare you off. When it crashes, you just have to shrug it off and boot it back up. My advice? Save often.
So, Spore may not be as deep as Maxis claimed it would be during the development process, where they almost made it seem like you had total control. You most certainly do not have total control. But that's a good thing. It makes the game more challenging, because, rather than just making a galaxy, you instead get to conquer it.
Buy this game. You will never ever stop playing it.40 of 44 people found this useful
