Great Game!
Written by JR from Loveland

I don't even like video games- really I have never found one that I would want to play for more than one hour. But Spore has taken my heart! It is really fun and different from any other game I've played. I suggest you at least try it- especially those of you who haven't found another video/ computer game that you like.

A Decent Game, But Left Me Wanting More
Written by KS from Indianapolis
Feb 8, 2009
I think that, as a first installment of the game, it's great. But I will expect much more out of the next one. I agree with "SL from Andover" on a lot of the issues, and I can add some more. Firstly, I expected there to be more of an element of unguided evolution, meaning I thought that, through much of the game, my choices as to how I acted towards others (including being friends with too many civilizations who might be feuding, for instance) would determine more of the outcome of my game -- and maybe even how my creature looked a bit. I did have a lot of fun figuring it out as I went through the game, though, and I won't deny that I found it very entertaining. But for those who anticipated a game with an almost emergent quality to it, like I did, you will feel a tad disappointed. By and large, though, the game was fun.
The freezing up of the game during intense battles in space was annoying to me, as well, and I also didn't really care for the lack of navigation points in the galaxy. I at least felt that a bookmarking option of sorts that could be used on certain star systems would be very beneficial, although, with the plethora of star systems, even that might be cumbersome.
I hope I helped to persuade you to try this game out and have fun with it, and I hope that the problems I found with the game will be corrected in the next installment.30 of 40 people found this useful

Highly Addicting
Written by ML from Garland

Great game for all ages! This game was bought for my 16 year old sister for x-mas by another family member. I am 22 years old and in college and play it! I am lucky enough to have this game on two computers and we'll be sitting at the same table on our different macbook pro laptops and we'll play straight into the morning if the computers let us.
Even though the game is highly addicting there are some set backs.
The game sometimes freezes and if you don't save you lose everything! Occasionally I have to hold the power button to reboot my computer when it freezes. Like I said, I have a macbook pro, a little over a year old with ram to spare and It still freezes. That is my only pet peeve abought this game.27 of 32 people found this useful

Sweet game

I love this game. I got a little upset when i went through the first four stages in about two days and after only about four hours of gameplay. but then i realized that there was more to the game in the space stage only to forget to save. When my computer froze, I was really upset. I haven't played it since, but I plan on it when I get my first macbook. Buy it and ENJOY IT!

Definitely Entertaining

To be completely honest, Spore is very creative, but if you're looking for intensive gameplay or something like Sims this game is not for you. What Spore really is, is about five different smaller games (or evolutionary stages) put together to form one larger game. I think this makes the game more interesting, but suffering through your least favorite stage can be repetitive and boring. This is OK though, because you advance to another stage fairly quickly. Space stage by far is the hardest and this is where gameplay becomes a little slow. Otherwise the game is great.
The creature possibilities are endless, and the game itself is easy enough to catch onto. I have fun whenever I play.

Fun, but not epic

I bought this game because I needed a distraction and I enjoy strategy games like this (or Civilization or Age of Empires, etc.). I did enjoy the game, though it did not take long at all to beat it. This game is basically a compilation of 5 smaller games, or stages, with your actions in each stage affecting the game in later stages. While each stage was fun, none of them was really addicting. This game basically reminded me of the phrase, "jack of all trades, master of none". I would prefer a game like Civilization in which it is in depth, as opposed to 5 simple stages combined.
However, this game would be great for someone creative who enjoys customizing every aspect of the game. Every stage allows you to design your own character, buildings, or vehicles, including shape, color, and abilities.57 of 78 people found this useful

Dare I say Spore is too big?...

I was really looking forward to this game and I've been following it's production ever since it was announced. The graphics and interface are beautiful. It is a great game during the cell through civilization levels, but when you get to space it almost seems too massive. I guess that is the point, space is supposed to be big, heck it's even bigger than portrayed here. It just seems like the game flies up to that point and then you are stuck in this immense area that takes forever to traverse. I found myself looking for cheat codes so I could at least experience the Grox.

this game is amazing! i walked into the apple store in our mall, and i played this game on the laptop! its super cool.......you get to create a creature, and give it a name and color it.....basically you start with a floating blob, and you add legs, arms, eyes, weapons, ears, body color, and body disigns......and then you test it on levels that you build......i was hooked on it for over an hour!!!!! and i usually dont like these things! it was awesome. everyone should buy it.
note: i have not yet bought this game so i dont know how it will work with your computer.

Too slow.......
Written by MV from Rochester Hills

My Intel imac 20" that meets all the game specs and then some 2.33Ghz ATI Radeon X1600 128MB 3GB RAM plays this game so painfully slow that it's not worth playing. My imac 24" with a video card that has 256MB works fine. caveat emptor.
