    It's no simulation

You're ready it all before, but to add another voice to the choir... It plays like 5 smaller games loosely attached. After playing for a few hours things quickly become routine. Great for younger audience, not so hot for older or more sophisticated sim players.

Try and play a friend's copy first before buying.

    Crashes Constantly, don't buy

    Written by DO from Olympia

The Game is great. Moving through the cell, creature and tribal stages goes too fast however and they put a little too much emphasis on the space stage. Besides that though the game is a blast---unless you're on a mac. if you are then expect to save every ten minutes, because it WILL crash. Even if you patch the game, it makes no difference. I've given up playing the game because it keeps crashing, after about an hour or so of play, it quits without saving and gives me an error message full of unintelligible jargon.

EA really dropped the ball. Save your money.

This isn't an isolated case. I'd post a link but apple doesn't allow it, so just go to google and search "mac spore keeps crashing" and you'll get to see forum after forum of frustrated customers vocalizing the countless problems experienced with this game.

Take my advice, don't buy this game. If you're disappointed Little Big Planet looks really fun and exhibits a lot of the same creative aspects that this game does, and it's not made by EA! (You'll need a PS3 of though.)

    Good idea, poor execution.

This is the kind of game that is very easy to get excited about. The idea of starting out as an insignificant blob which will one day rule the galaxy is quite appealing. Also, the colorful adds and the customization are also appealing. As exciting as the idea is, the game play is horrible. This is how I'd sum it up: Eat, Evolve. Dance, Evolve. Kill, Evolve. Explore space, The end. It only took six hours to beat. As tempted as you may be to buy this game, I'm telling you its not worth it.

    Design your creature then quit.

    Written by TB from BOSTON

This game is high quality. It looks great, the creature and object design elements are really amazing. Having said that though it just doesn't live up to the hype. The creature is nothing more than a brainless puppet requiring you to guide it through the entirety of it's miserable life. The "evolution" is nothing more than cosmetic. If your looking for a God Sim look elsewhere. In fact this isn't a Sim at all. Each stage somehow seems disconnected giving you no feeling of continuity. The game play is repetitive with virtually no observable difference from one game to the next other than what your creature looks like. The first 4 stages seem almost incidental, merely stepping stones to the real game of galactic conquest which is ruined by tedious repetitive tasks. There is very little playability here let alone replayability. This was a great idea that was poorly implemented to create a truly boring experience. If you buy this game, design your creature, make it dance around a bit then quit - there is nothing else to see.

    Dissapointing game play

    Written by BC from Folsom

    Sep 23, 2008

I have been waiting for this game for years, and bought it the day it was released. I spent an entire afternoon playing with it, all the way to the Space stage... and have not really touched it since.

Someone else described it best as "the world's largest kiddie pool. 5 miles wide and three feet deep."

I'd add... as designed by Disney.

Once you realize that most of the changes you make, such as the shape, color, and to a large degree, the behavior, or your creature doesn't matter except as an animation, it becomes less interesting. Adding more legs does not change the speed. Longer or stronger arms does not affect combat. Changing the eyes does not affect vision.

Pretty much no matter what you do, you'll always end up in the same place.

And that gets boring too quickly.

    DIDN'T WORK

    Written by CD

    Sep 17, 2008

I bought the Galactic Edition from my local Apple Store. When I tried to install is on my MacBook, It would not even let me open the installer! I thought it was just an issue with my graphics card or something. So, I tried to install it on our PC with Windows Vista. I was able to open the installer this time, but something went wrong in the installation process, where it said an error occured and I had to cancel the installation. I tried several mor times, but that always happened. I would have given it one star, but due to the exellence of the Creature Creator (which worked on my MacBook), it gets two.

Save your money - Just doesn't live up to the hype... not even close.

    Written by MM from Grovetown

Stage 1 - "Cell Stage": subpar-controls for a game much less exciting than pac-man.

Stage 2 - "Animal": just as boring and mind numbing. Bad transition Oh.. you had 13 flippers in the water? Well, now you have two legs and are a omnivore instead of the carnivore you were before... why? no reason

Stage 3 - "village" Basically now you've got a chief with some "followers" you get to pick clothes for... no more adding limbs

Stage 4 - "Civilization" happy days... you have cities instead of villages... do stage 3 again... except design buildings

Stage 5 - "Space" finally a little challenge and entertainment... but just a little. I got to the space stage in... 5 hours? Still very repetitive... how many times can one planet get hit by freaking pirates?

Ok, right out of the box it hangs on the splash screen... you have to go in and remove the "cider_noui" file... why? no clue, but it works.

I would have been disappointed spending...$20 let alone the... close to $60. I'd return the stupid game but that would be just sucking up more time to be wasted on this game...

Crashes during loading of civilization stage...

Written by DS from Altamonte Springs

    Sep 15, 2008

Loved this game... from the cell stage through the creature stage, where the possibilities seem limitless, on to the tribal stage... but then, exception error, can't advance to the civilization stage no matter how many times I try. Running the game on a brand new Mac, and I get a division by zero error and the game exits to the desktop every time. Put a ticket in to EA Games... waiting for a reply. Sure would love to evolve!
