    Decent product, but creates problems

It's a decent product, but it caused Skype to crash almost all the time. After doing some research, it's a known issue with Skype. I had to uninstall it and still can't use it.

Save your money for the "Things" program.

So, Hear may seem like a nice little program -- that is, until you try to use it.

I've exchanged emails with the JoeSoft and the ProSoft teams, and neither one of them can fix the issue. They're friendly and helpful, but they haven't been able to solve my case.

I was a Hear user when it first released, and expired my trial. Since that trial, the full version software hasn't worked more than 1 day.

    Awesome!

I use this with Pandora and I can't believe how much better the music sounds. It's night and day. The ability to control the audio for each application individually is great. I'd recommend this to anyone that would like to take control of there audio output and loves to listen to music through their Mac.

Hear By Joesoft, Is A Unique Pleasure, To The Ears Opening, to Modern Sound

    Written by GD from Louisville

I recently downloaded Joe Soft's software, Hear. And. I have to tell you all, that after my "day job," I sit in front of my computer for hours, writing. Sure, I know, Hear "electronically" processes the music streaming down from the hard drive, what else do people expect in this age of digital, technology? We have to face it, analog technology, as beautifully warm as it is, is a thing, of the past, and, believe me, the fastest processors slowly are approximating the clarity and high warmth of analog, without the "sizzle" trailing behind the open sound. Anyway. Hear is an amazing product which (still nascent, experimenting) is one of the first to play with the sound of compressed or uncompressed, digitally magical sound. To cut pragmatically, things short, purchase it. You won't be unsatisfied. It is the only program available today which heightens the sound of any application streaming through your (now) poor sounding Mac. Just, buy it. I Promise you, you won't be sorry...especially after you learn how to unlock the sound potential it has inside, all the available settings you can muster to play with manually and soon arriving to "perfection" inside your ears becoming highly sensitive now, to the bad sound sound, inside your Mac!

Amazing sound using inexpensive speakers & my Mac Mini

    Written by WL from Pontypridd

A couple of months ago I purchased the cheapest set of multimedia speakers I could find (Sony SRS-D21) with a sub-woofer. I found it on sale for about £20.00 at an electronics store in the UK. They sounded okay, but I could barely hear the sub and the clarity of instrumental music (my favorite) proved to be quite flat, even with tweaking the EQ in iTunes.

I just downloaded HEAR and it just blows me away! I'm a little put off by the retail price on their website ($49.95), but you can save $10.00 by getting it through the Apple Store (quite unusual to save anything with Apple, if you know what I mean).

Now I can pump up the sub-woofer and there are some amazing pre-sets to try. Eventually, I went the manual route with the settings, just listening until I found what I was looking for. This speaker system has now come alive!!

    Ugghh...

I read the reviews and was confident that this software would soup up the sound on my macbook. I tried everything, from default presets to wild EQ customizations, and NOTHING WORKED!!! It sounded awful, so tinny, phasy, warbly, just pure garbage. Don't waste your money or your time.

    So Good

Written by MS from Salt Lake City

I guess I've always just expected computer speakers to sound tinny and hollow. I never realized that with just software (no hardware needed) my audio could sound so good. It makes the sound coming out of my Macbook Pro and My 24" iMac sound like I hooked up external speakers to them. I tried the demo at the Joesoft site and that sold me on it.

In short, this software is extremely worth it. I can't believe apple doesn't include it by default.

    Maybe it's just for laptops.

I went to the Joesoft website and downloaded the demo of this... and I've never been more disappointed with a piece of software that has had great reviews (sorry I had to mess with it's great run)
The product is great in theory, but I've never heard my 24" iMac sound so bad!
If this product was designed specifically for the MacBook line it should say so in bold letters, it only made the audio from my iMac sound distorted and over compressed. The E.Q. function appeared to do nothing in spite of how drastic I moved the E.Q. curve.
I recommend going to their website and trying the demo of this before committing to this product as you may or may not yield the results that are advertised.
    Two stars for the attempt.

    Well worth $40

Hear is awesome, awesome, awesome. I have a MacBook Pro and was considering getting some new speakers, but after I got Hear, I'm not really sure I need to. It produce s by far the best simulated surround sound I have ever heard and it clarified my speakers tenfold. The balance it creates in just the Basic Surround Sound preset is phenomenal, and the clarity, depth and volume increases is pleasantly surprising. Highly suggest it!
