iStopMotion 2
iStopMotion2 is GREAT!

I have the first edition and loved it and just bought the Home version which has a few more options than the original. I like it, but will upgrade to the EXPRESS version as I will be able to choose a picture to put for the background.(blue screen) Very simple to use. Third graders have no problem doing stop action animation with this software. I use it on my MacBook and will use it as usual for school projects on our Mac minis.

Version 2 is awesome and has been stable for me. The voice recognition really made my project easy and the other upgrades make this application worth it.

iStopMotion 2
does not work with HD Cams

It does what it says on the tin BUT it will not work with camera resolutions greater
than 720x576 ( widescreen standard definition ). As most camcorders are now HD, this software version is a bit pointless as you require the PRO version at $460 extra.10 of 15 people found this useful

iStopMotion 2
The problems and headaches outweigh any possible fun or function.

I waited patiently for iStopMotion 2 to come out since version 1 and it updates were riddled with crash causing problems and system failures. I heard version 2 was coming, so, I assumed this would solve everything. I was wrong.
I bought the boxed version here from Apple, and also ordered QuickTime Pro since QuickTime is a requirement to use this software. So, the most recent updated version of QuickTime was installed and when I received the box, I attempted to install it.
After 6-7 installations, un-installations, updates and patches, it is still useless. The result is a chopped up image from any camera, even the iMac iSight. It does not work. And this is after downloading the most current version from the Boinx site, making the point of the boxed version irrelevant and a waste of cardboard, plastic and postage.
After attempting to get help from this German based company, I finally got a reply. Their solution was telling me to remove QuickTime Pro and install an older version of it. Sorry, but I am not going to put an old version of anything just to use this software.
It's been a couple weeks, and Boinx does not even mention the fact that this will not work for anyone that uses the latest version of QuickTime. That is just not good business. Steer clear.
