MacSpeech Dictate IS AWESOME/ INNOVATIVE/ GREAT!!!

I really underestimated the software, but here I am right now speaking into a microphone while it types the words for me. I am using version 1.3 and after training the software almost every single word that I say, as long as I am in a quiet environment, is typed out on whatever application I have open. The engineers who developed and designed the software are very innovative as well as phenomenal programmers. I would highly recommend purchasing the software if your hands become very sore after typing for a while. MacSpeech will become very useful when I start my classes next fall because college consists of writing many papers, which typing takes up most of the time. Rather than typing, I can utilize MacSpeech to type for me while I concentrate more on the information that I am researching. MacSpeech will give me more time to research a topic and to get a great understanding of the information, rather than focusing all of my time on typing. If you have not purchased MacSpeech I would highly recommend it, not only because of its capabilities, but because there is so much that it has to offer for whatever occasion that you may use it for. So, on a final note, this whole entire review was typed by MacSpeech and verbally spoken to by me. I rate this software five stars, but would rate it 10 stars if I could. I am operating OS X 10.5 .7 with 4 GB of RAM, 250 GB of hard drive space, 2.4 GHz of Intel Core 2 Duo processing speed, on a Mac book Pro. Most people who rate this software bad probably have older computers or do not have enough RAM or processing speed to handle the software. Also, the people who write the software bad probably do not have a good microphone to speak into or did not train the software properly because the software has to be training in a quiet environment and also must be spoken to in a semi-quiet environment after it has been trained. I would recommend buying the software over any other software and it is now my favorite application for the Mac. I will assure you 100% that you will enjoy this software very much. I am a computer engineer with a bachelors of science in computer science and am very picky with software, but this software is now my favorite. Give it a try because I know you will like it a lot. MacSpeech Dictate v1.5

Thumbs Up - easy to install and use

This is the first time I am using this type of program and I have only been using it for a couple of weeks but I like it. I am an instructor and correct a lot of papers and since students are now e-mailing papers I can sit back and dictate my feedback. The software was easy to install, so far it works great and I am having a lot of fun with it. It fast, picks up the basic words and learns as you go along. I would highly recommend it. I give it a thumbs up.

The product is excellent. When I goof, it goofs. If I speak carefully and distinctly, it responds accordingly. I have one problem. I am hard of hearing. I wish there was a better earphone and microphone product which would return a louder signal. That would be a great help.

I have used speech recognition software before, and knew of its limitations. After having purchased MacSpeech Dictate I was pleasantly surprised with how well that it worked. In fact this review, was dictated entirely using the software. I found it extraordinarily accurate, and easy to use. In fact, it blew away my prior experience using Dragon NaturallySpeaking. I was concerned at first because of some of the negative reviews on this website, but I believe now after using it, those particular users must have had problems with the software unique to their circumstances, most notably trying to use speech recognition software in a noisy workspace or with a person who has a more distinct voice or dialect. The software was awesome. I bought it because I had surgery and could not type for several weeks at my office, and as a practicing attorney, that is a problem. Nothing is perfect, but this came as close as I could ever expect in software. I used it with a Mac book Pro.

Happy I bought It!

I LOVED it!
It got the work done in a fraction of the time I would normally spend doing it.

I had heard two opinions about this program, one was very positive, the second was very negative. I bought it so that I could have my own opinion, and I was glad I did!!!
I got my work done in a fraction of the time I would had spent without it.
It was not 100% accurate and I still needed to correct some things here and there, but it was well worth getting it to complete the work that I needed to do fast.
It helped me tremendously...
This is a MUST HAVE if you have a lot to write, and need to complete it fast...

This program worked right of the box. I dictated 300 words and it didn't get one wrong. They got it right on this program. IT REALLY WORKS!

Life saver

I had an accident and my arm was incapacitated for 3 months. This package saved me. I would avoid the optional headset that they provide - difference in software performance between that and the Logitech Premium Notebook Headset is highly significant. Should note that I'm trilingual, my accent fluctuates a lot, and regardless it works great 99% of the time. The main weakness at this time is the inability to edit vocabulary (remove words) and do more voice training if needed. I would be willing to read 10 more documents to get the accuracy up, especially if they were docs that I had written. Ability to load docs that you have written is there but there is no reading them to the system. I'm amazed and tempted to get the French and Spanish dictionaries as well.

Kept me on the job

I had a serious tablesaw accident -- two fingers lost and reattached on my dominant hand. A long rehab period meant I couldn't type for months. I purchased and installed Dictate. After a very short training session and loading some examples of my written work on day one, I was dictating e-mails, letters, and manuscripts with approximately 95% accuracy. I could even use technical terms and proper names. I cannot say enough about this product.

This product is phenomenal, it works right out of the box it took about five minutes to set up and I'm dictating and it recognizes my voice it's just phenomenal. I recommend this product to anyone, I am truly amazed that it is working to swell clearly just five minutes I installed it and I am writing this message to you right now I'm amazed. I'm never going to have to type ever again I highly recommend this product. Thank you

I work in an email support environment, so I am constructing and responding to emails for over 40 hours a week. This software is a god-send! I was blown away by how accurately it dictates what I say. Not only does it type what you dictate, but you can also give it commands, such as open program, close program, copy & paste.

This is the next step in computer innovation. It really takes interacting with your computer to another level.

I am so so glad that I bought this software. It is making my life so much easier, and giving my poor hands a break. Anyone who types a lot and has access to a quiet environment to do their work will find this software to be as amazing as I have.

Outstanding Program (from previous Dragon user)!!

To qualify myself here, I have been using the PC version of Dragon Naturally Speaking Medical for 7 years, doing all my work dictations with that software. Recently switching to Mac, I heard enough concerns about previous dictation software made for the Mac. Skeptical, I tried this one, and I writing my first review to inform others who may be in similar shoes that they DID get it right this time. Appropriate expectations of voice activated dictation are needed, but I will verify that this program seems outstanding!! The training is seriously NO BIG DEAL, unlike the misconceptions many people I talk to seem to have. I speak clearly, but not with "obnoxious clarity" when dictating, and at a pace equal to my conversational pace and this program transcribes with HIGH accuracy. It does truly work!

MacSpeech Dictate -- great program!!

I have been dealing with back and neck problems for a couple of years. I knew there must be a good dictation software out there and MacSpeech is it! As I am on the computer almost 8 hours a day, this is a lifesaver. It is much more accurate and faster than I expected. I recommend it highly, my back seems fine, and after two days of using it, I am more efficient than ever.

PS: I dictated this note in less than a minute on MacSpeech

Compared to previous versions of macspeech voice recognition programs this is very good and works well.This may very well be the best voice recognition program so far. It learned my voice in about 5 minutes in one training session, Its not 100% perfect buts its well up there. I would recommend this program to anyone who needs voice recognition software for whatever reason.

I have used dictation software from time-to-time, but always seemed it always seemed like it never got over the hump. Within the first day of using this, I was sliding down the other side of said hump. The training for it to learn your voice patterns takes no time. I find myself using it for email, taking quick notes, penning letters. I have not found a program that it does not work seamlessly in. Great program.

Ever sense I finished with a 10 minute training exercise, it has made zero errors and I can complete school assignments in half the time with this program. I would recommend this program to anyone.
