I had a false positive on some old Word templates containing VBA macros.
I reported it on Sept 10th at 11:00. VirusBarrier responded (from a real human being) one hour and 40 minutes later, requesting a sample.
I received confirmation that it was a false positive, that they had prepared a patch, and I could download the patch from their update service 13 hours 11 minutes later.
That's unbelievable: 13 hours to confirm, analyse, and identify a bug; code, test and publish a fix!
No software team I have ever worked on or heard of has ever managed that kind of responsiveness.
And yes, the patch fixed the bug :-)
By the way, the product is excellent, scan speeds are good (3hrs36 for 1.1 million files) the interface is intuitive, and the system load is so low you will never be aware it is installed (provided your system is in good health!).14 of 14 people found this useful

Poor customer service

This software seems to work, but one wonders since there's few issues with Macs to start with. I gave them two stars because when you do have issues or questions their CS staff never respond. This is an unfortunate trend in the software industry. Customers are left to search the Internet for best practices uncovered by other lost souls, esp. see any "Microsoft" issue. Microsoft CS are confused and overwhelmed by their own products.

Net Barrier is great but the rest......

I bought this product for several reasons. One, I wanted a back up firewall. If you take the time to research ie CNET, ZDNet, Macworld, they all say the same thing, Apple's firewall is good but vulnerable. They all recommend a second firewall to help protect your system. Netbarrier has some excellent features, but be careful on setting up your settings because you will notice some web pages do not come up correctly. Especially ones with pictures and if you use more then one browser it will act a little odd. The virusbarier is okay but I prefer Symantec Norton Antivirus V11.0, the one used by Apple at least the Apple Store I went to. If you don't think you need an antivirus because you have a mac, trust me, you need one. Something got onto my mac and wiped out half my files and completely corrupted my external hard drive. As far as the antispam option is concerned, I don't even use it. Overall, this product is good, great for those who need all three products and excellent for the price. If you do the math and buy them separately, you save quite a few dollars.

Great software, no more SPAM!!

Have just got this and WOW! Have used previous versions of the Virus Barrier but this time decided to get the security suite as it includes anti-spam and I have been getting increasing spam mail over the last few months. This adds a SPAM folder and puts suspect mail in here where you can just delete it or review. It also gives you the option to teach it spam or learn good email which means I rarely get a spam mail in my inbox now. Can't praise this enough and is really good value with Virus and Net barrier included.
