Not a bad game, but could be better.

For being on a Mac with the integrated graphics card, this wasn't too bad of a game. I thought the story line was good, I heard that it comes from the movie Enemy at the Gate. Anyway, I received the game on a Wednesday and I finished it that Saturday. Very short story and game, wasn't too impressed with that.
What I did like was the action of the game. The combat action seemed very realistic and the weapons fire and gun smoke, tracers, sound e.t.c were all very good and realistic. The tactics that the soldiers used were also very realistic. I spent 8 years in the U.S Army Infantry so I was looking for tactical movements and all that good stuff us Infantry guys do and they did it probably 90% of the game.
"Death From Above" mission had to be my favorite. This mission takes place in a AC-130 Gunship and you are the gunner. I have watched many videos on you tube where the camera is in the gun seat of these planes and this game looks as if they put you right in the seat of the actual gunner. The graphics were crazy and very, very, realistic in this mission, best mission over all in my opinion.
The only thing I did not like about the game is that you cannot play the enemy. You have to play the Americans or the British S.A.S. I did not like that, I think if they would let you play from the enemy perspective then the game would have gone longer and would have given more variety.
The online play is very fun and very action packed. I like the online play, if you are into Counter strike, Team Fortress, e.t.c then you will really like the online play with this game. Again, not to bad of a game, but with a few adjustments as far as putting some variety into it like being able to play from the enemy side, I think the game would have received five stars from me over all. Hope this review helps some one interested in playing the game.

Awesome game. Online play is even better. Easy to control. RUnning on a unibody macbook pro and is flawless.

I didn't want to buy this game because I was worried that I would have a hard time controlling the characters without a controller but I have been very happy with it. The controls using my macbook are tremendous. Things have improved tremendously with games on the laptop. If you haven't tried too many games recently on the computer I would give it another shot with games like this. Lots of fun controls easy to learn and I am throughly enjoying it.

...Do not buy this game. It was probably one the best gaming experiences I've had.
The problem is it takes up way too much time in multiplayer because of how addicting it is. Some nights I just can't stop. Extremely competitive.
After I got used to using the mouse and keyboard I cant see myself going back to using a controller for games any time soon. I've had the game for a couple months now and still play it like the first day I got it (much better might I ad).

This is the best game ever and i completely disagree with any one who says otherwise the game play is not too short and if you thought it was then go onto multiplayer and get a real chalenge with online with other people

This game is excellent. It has outstanding graphics, a great story and good implementation. I had some difficulty in finding some of the enemy intel and after 30 games However, with similar cheats found for the PC you can have fun playing tougher modes.

Way to linear - forced through them - yes.
Don't bother wasting your dollars on this one.

Best game in the world. I was soooo existed when i saw this was available for my mac. I sat their day after day saving up money and biting my nails hoping i would meed the system requirements. the day i got it i played for 6 hrs streat and got half way through the story mode. all and all the best game you can get for mac.

Probably one of the best FPS available. the graphics are also incredible... definitely equal to or better than PS3/Xbox... my only problem with the game is the high system requirements... even on my MacBook Pro (2.2 Ghz, 4 GB ram, Nvidia Geforce 8600m GT) there is little bit of lag, even on modest graphics settings... my system just cant keep up playing at full resolution with all the graphics settings enabled... it still looks stunning on low settings though. the campaign mode is incredibly short, but very intense and fast-paced. Online play is the killer feature though... take my word for it, it is incredible. overall this is an excellent game.

Call of duty 4: modern warfare is a great game on the new aluminum macbook. The graphics are fantastic, the controls are pretty good, campaign mode is fun, and multiplayer is awesome. I highly recommended this game, it's sick.

Ok, just to get this clear, its a great game and highly recomended by me. But there are some restrictions of what you are allowed to do compared with windows. there is no custom map making or modding involved in the game like the windows version, but if you have the ps3 or xbox 360 version. then you will still see a huge increase of things you can do. the up side of it is that, you can still play on user maps, there is a zombies modd, and some people even made a match called modern paintball. you are actually using a paintball gun. its pretty fun. so overall, i would recomend this game to anyone.

So I'm running this on my mac book pro (2.4 ghz and 2 gigs of ram) the game is great. I think I officially qualify as an addict. Graphics are amazing. I have my computer connected to my high def tv. The people that are having performance issues, you may want to consider some upgrades. The macbook was never intended to be a gaming computer, so next time spend the extra money and get a real computer.

The positive: good graphics, realistic game play, runs flawlessly even on computers with only recommended configurations.
The negative: way too short, too linear compared to Call of Duty 2 you feel forced through missions.
Summary: not worth the $50+ dollars you’ll pay through the Apple store.

It's been a decade and a half since I've immersed myself in a video game. I don't have to tell you how far the gaming experience has come since SuperNES, but dayumn! I bought CoD as an outlet for my nervous energy during exams and it was just the ticket. Other folks sum up the experience nicely; I'll only add that the game works pretty flawlessly in full resolution on my old-style '08 MacBook Pro 2.4GHz. I downloaded it, which took 2 tries and about 24 hours total download time. Control with mouse and keyboard feels pretty natural; I don't think a Dual Action Controller would work as well for accuracy.
Last thing: most fun level was Death From Above. You're in a gunship at night using an infrared scope and a choice of 25, 40, and 110mm cannons to obliterate ground troops and vehicles. Other fun levels have you sniping from 1,000yards, or taking out enemy troops and trucks behind you while speeding away on the back of a jeep.44 of 61 people found this useful

Call of Duty 4 is a fantastic game! The Career mode of the game is very exciting and intense. The online play is outrageously enjoyable! Many different guns. You can create different clases. Level up, go through presteige. Wonderful game I definately recomend it!

guess what i have a macbook.. just a plain macbook that i bought last year and it works pretty good! sure it does lag but at least it plays great! the overview that is writen is wrong. the Intel integrated chipsets is sort of suppoted!
