Good Product, but the cord is too short, so I'm exchanging it

I do like this charger, but the coiled cord is just too short for me. I am going to exchange it for the straight cord one that Griffin also has. I love the lighted ring which changes colors to tell you how charged your phone is. & the light is not too bright like the last charger i bought & returned from AT&T. It was distracting while I drove. I also like how the other Griffin charger also can be used with a USB port, I just hope that the cord is a little longer.

Short Coiled Cord + Bluetooth = Heaven! (Charges at 66% wall charge rate)

Yes, this has a short, coiled cord, and that's why I bought it. I have Bluetooth, so I always use hands free mode in the car, so bringing the phone to my ear is never an issue.
Other chargers come with longer cords that are not coiled - ugh, what a mess that would be driving around like that!
Regarding charge time: This charger charges my iPhone 3GS at a speed 66% of that of the wall plug in charger (I have timed it). So, if my morning drive is 30 minutes, this will add 20% charge to my iPhone (no or very little talk time). If you're chatting away constantly, well, maybe it would be a little slower - I haven't checked that yet.
All in all, it's a good charger for 20 bucks.

Originally this is meant for the original iPhone, but it works with my iPhone 3G. When I bought the iPhone 3GS, I was hesitant to use this since I don't know what might happen to my new 3GS. A few weeks ago, I was driving to upstate NY and my 3GS was going dead on me. I had no choice but to use the Griffin Powerjolt SE Car Charger since I was on a very important phone call. Surprisingly, it worked! Since then, I use this every time I'm on the road and when my phone's battery is going out. Never had a problem with it whatsoever. Works perfectly with my iPhone 3GS.

The charger worked fine, sometimes a little slow, for my 3g. Now with the 3gs it charges 1% per half an hour. Don't waste your money!

Very short cord

If your car's 12V power plug is in the dashboard, this cord is probably too short to charge the iPhone and have it facing you in your center console or on the passenger seat.

I agree with other reviewers that the coiled cord is too short to render the iPhone useful at all when plugged in, which is a major reason to have a car charger!
It charged my iPhone fine, but why buy a car charger with such a short cord when there appear to be much higher rated products?0 of 1 people found this useful

I bought this cord when I bought my iPhone 3G last fall. It charges OK, but like 99% of other people reviewing this product, I feel that the cord is way too short, especially if you use GPS and Google maps, as someone else has written. I tried uncoiling the cord, but it re-coils itself. You would think the Griffin people would read these reviews and make the cord longer, right?

If you're looking for a short charger where you will NOT be using it while it's charging then this is meant for you. You can't use the phone at all since the charge % will not increase. I returned this and bought the belkin with USB. I tested it out and it charges really fast even when using it.

It looks great and works fine - unless you try to use your phone while it is charging. The cord is WAY TOO SHORT! I have had a while - and it held up - however, a few weeks ago it stopped working because of the ground wire in the charging plate that connects the phone came off. Fortunately, one of my friends who had a soldering iron fixed it and it is now working again - but I still have to lean forward and stretch the heck out of the cord whenever I take a call.
Only purchase if you A) Don't use your phone while driving B) have a soldering iron or C) Use a hands-free device in your car1 of 2 people found this useful

Cannot Keep Up

This car charger cannot keep up if you use GPS/Maps. The battery will keep on draining even when you plug it in. It also charges very very slowly when you do not use the GPS/maps or anything else. Cord is also very short. Get something else.

This charger is simply awesome. My biggest complaint with most car chargers is how tall they are. The fact that this is a low-profile design for me is a huge plus. I also find the ring light which indicates charging status to be very useful. All in all I see no faults with this product.

It charges my iPhone like a champ. But, the cord is too short to talk on while it's charging. I'm afraid that eventually the strian from pulling the short cord will loosen up then jack on the iPhone. So, I am going to return mine today.

Hissing noise while playing music

Both this and the USB cable version exhibit a hissing noise when charging while playing music. Used with iPhone and an auxiliary input into my deck from headphone jack.. if it happens with an iPod (don't know why it'd be different), the purpose of which is music, I can't imagine how it'd be acceptable.. only used for a day before I returned it, so not sure how well it charges.

After less than a year of use, the cord no longer connects appropriately. The adapter that plugs into the iPhone is loose and will only charge if it's held in a "just right" position.
I charge almost exclusively in the car, so it HAS received a lot of use, but it certainly wasn't abused, and I would expect it to last at least a year!5 of 6 people found this useful

Just picked one up over the weekend for my long commute and it worked better than expected. With my bluetooth and internet being enabled at all times, I really need the extra boost to ensure the phone has enough power to last me through the day.

Charges at 1A, not bad for a compact charger. Haven't use my home charger for a long time. Usually my commute time would fully charge the battery.

I took this onto a camping trip where there were no electrical outlet. i stuck this into my car and it charged my iPhone like a charm. no problems what so ever. it turns green when you plug it in and then turns orange when you are charging, then goes back to green when it is charged. i have been using it from then pn and it still works amazingly. i recommend this product to everyone.
