iBank Personal Financial Manager
Simple, elegant and does what I want it to...
Written by AP from Seattle

Ok. Perhaps not for those who wish to buy or sell stock - as some seem to be looking for. However, to manage multiple accounts, and for those of us who look for well designed interfaces and ease of use, this is a refreshing alternative to other - bloated, overly complex with hideous backup methodology - programs. I found Quicken to be complex and way more than I needed. I do use iBank to keep tabs on my portfolio, debt, checking account etc. I also use it when tax time rolls around as it will categorize entries. I have to say I am a bit perplexed by all the negative reviews.

Wonderful---because it's not Quicken
Written by RM from Maple Grove
Dec 30, 2008
I really enjoy iBank, because it's its own program---it's not trying to replace Quicken or MS Money or any other program. It truly is a finance program built for the mac-user. I felt frustrated the first 20 minutes of set-up because I have been so used to Quicken's difficult set-ups, and approached this with the same, archaic expectations of set-up. As it turns out, this was much easier to approach and understand. Just like a mac, everything is intuitive about the program. SOO simple, both as it's application and usability. It's not fancy-pancy, but it definitely does what it should do: tracks your spending, works with your iPhone, and helps you budget. I'm a convert!

iBank Personal Financial Manager
Complete and solid product
Written by PM from Ithaca

I was looking for a long time (several months) for a decent banking software to manage my credit cards, my bank accounts, my budgets, ... I had tried several solutions: GNU Cash, Quicken, mvelopes.com, Moneydance, ...
iBank3 is the definitively the best one. As you may read in other comments, it may have less functionalities compared to Quicken (Quicken for Windows, not Quicken for Mac, which has less functionalities) and MSMoney but it has 90% of the basic functionalities you will need for you day-to-day money management, so that's enough, is well integrated in the Mac (the UI is awesome) and is solid.
The team is really proactive regarding bug fixes, improvements, ... (lots of upgrades)
In a nutshell: give it a try, it is definitively worth it.90 of 107 people found this useful

Finally, a personal finance product that works with iPhone!
Written by JL from Amherst
Jun 13, 2008
Currently this is the only non-web based banking software to work with iPhone. It requires .mac (soon to be MobileMe) to get working, but once set up you can use it like a check register on your iPhone and reconcile your accounts on your computer with lots of charts and other great ways of examining your spending. While there are some UI quirks and rough edges on the product it is by far the best personal finance manager for the Mac and iPhone. As an added bonus emails to their tech support team have received very quick responses and the forums on their website are very lively with lots of users helping each other out.

Better that Quicken!!!
Written by JV from AVENTURA

I was a user of Quicken for Windows, and when I switched to Mac OS, I tried Quicken for Mac like alternative. The fact is that Quicken for Mac lack a lots of functionality that the application for Windows have. After that, I tried this application and when I compared it with Quicken, I really love it. Yes, maybe the application don't have the same functionality like MS Money and Quicken for Windows, but I think that right now is the best option for Mac OS.

Finally, something to replace MS Money
Written by PH from Louisville
Apr 22, 2008
For the longest time, after switch to Mac, I lusted for a product with the same feature set as Microsoft Money.
I went as far as running Windows in Parallels so that I could run Microsoft Money.
With iBank 3, there is now a native application with a comparable feature set. Further, it's a Universal binary and it's UI is leaps and bounds ahead of Quicken for Mac.
I can download transactions from my banks via OFX Direct Connect, forecast balances, and see where I'm spending my money.
Sure there are a few bugs, but the vendor has been pretty quick and thorough in working with their customers to resolve problems.
I hope to see more refinement and analogs to MS Money's Planners and Wizards in the coming revisions.
Great job, IGG Software!

Great Product - Very Pleased
Written by BS from York

In fact great products plural, because I have the iPhone app as well as iBank for my MacBook Pro. I have been a Quicken user for many a long year before switching to Apple. Tired of waiting for the UK version of Quicken for Mac, I bought iBank. I have had no regrets whatsoever. Does everything I want and does it well. The synching with the iPhone is smooth and quick. In my opinion, it looks good too. Support is excellent. Finally, I'd be surprised if it wasn't a work in progress. Yes, I'm well satisfied with my purchases.

GREAT ALTERNATIVE TO QUICKEN
Written by ML from Wheelwright
Jun 4, 2009
I have been using the program for several months now on my Early 2008 Intel based iMac, it is a great alternative to quicken. The software developer seems to always be fixing any issues that may show up (unlike Intuit). It is a fantastic program for tracking expenses and your portfolio. I have never had it quit on me and works correctly every time. I don't know what people are talking about saying it does not add or subtract correctly. Plus it works under 10.5.

WELL DONE!!
Written by JW from Liberty

Finally, a product that is not so proprietary and arrogant and is compatible with QFX, OFX, and QFX formats. Works extremely easy and well with all of the features at my own bank's Online Banking solution including Bill Pay. A great product and highly recommended alternative to the giant players in the personal financial software products. WELL DONE, and thank you.

A Fantastic, dependable total replacement for Quicken at LAST!!!!!!
Written by HM from THOUSAND OAKS
Apr 23, 2009
I bought iBank as a replacement for Quicken, because Quicken has become buggy bloatware. Old Quicken was wonderful in its DOS and early windows versions, but now the company forces you to update each year to a version that is buggier than the last one, and I am tired of fixing their bugs with no support. iBank is better software than Quicken ever was!

Managing money was never so much fun!
Written by AW from SALISBURY
Aug 21, 2009
I have tried a few personal accounting packages recently and although I'm really only starting to get to grips with iBank I already love it for a number of reasons; it's intuitive, has the best and most comprehensive manual I've seen, is extremely Apple-like, it links to iCal to give transaction reminders if necessary, AND, best of all, it even links to my iPhone via Mobile Me so I can check and add to my financial records on the move. Equally importantly, their customer services are not only extremely helpful and quick to respond but are also unusually proactive. Managing money was never so much fun!

Very pleased ...
Written by TJ from Greensburg
Aug 12, 2009
I am a former user of Quickbooks and am very happily satisfied with IBank ... It has been the easiest software I've seen for personal accounting. Most of the large accounting software programs are to complex and not simplified enough for just general household management but was pleasantly surprised. Another plus was the cost ... again, the larger companies are very expensive but this software was easy on the budget. Love it !!!

Been using it for 2 months now and love it. Never had any problems with it on the Mac.
I also use iBiz with iBank. Recommend it to by clients who want something simple to use. I work with a lot of seniors who like short learning curves. Do not understand the low ratings by others. Perhaps they should have there Mac's serviced.32 of 46 people found this useful

Quality and Service
Written by JD from Greensboro

iBank is straight forward and easy to use, offering all the tools that we've come to expect from financial software for personal banking, and the service is exceptional. My bank changed its way of handling internet downloads and iBank support was fast and efficient in helping me workaround the disruption. The attentive care and concern is worth way more than the cost of the software, making this the best value on any market!

Better Than Previous Reviews Suggest
Written by JK from Owings Mills
Jul 9, 2008
I was a long-time MS Money user until I upgraded to an Apple, so I was looking for something good to replace it. Unfortunately there wasn't much out there, so I went with a big name (Quicken) thinking it couldn't be too bad. Well... it did everything I needed, but wow, that program wasn't user-friendly at all! So despite all the reviews I read on here about how bad iBank was, I was determined to try it anyway and I'm glad I did. Sure, it doesn't have as many features as MS Money, but this program does everything I need to manage my finances and it was much easier to use than Quicken. I haven't had any problems with it so far and I would definitely recommend this program to anyone.

Near great! Huge relief to finally leave Quicken.
Written by EW from Cincinnati
Sep 26, 2008
I tried iBank recently, after many years of using Quicken. My impression so far is almost totally positive. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that Quicken or Money offer, but it's definitely a solid program that does most of what I need.
I have quite a few different investment accounts and bank accounts, all at several different banks and brokerages, so I have a lot of data to keep track of. So far, I've found iBank to be completely solid. Never crashes, calculations are perfect, and the formats are very useful.
My only complaint as a new user is that some of the user interface is not at all intuitive, so I couldn't figure out how to do many things. But on the positive side, the online help is so good that I was easily able to look up anything I couldn't figure out on my own. In fact, I found some things that were totally unexpected but very helpful. It would be nice to have a more comprehensive tutorial, but if you don't mind looking things up in the help, you can get up to speed with this app very quickly.
Overall, I'm very happy with iBank, and I don't expect to ever go back to Quicken or Money. I expect future versions of iBank to just keep getting better. We finally have a real Mac application that does nearly all you need for your financial record keeping.423 of 434 people found this useful
