Front ok, the back poor, on the 2Gen

Written by LL from Mercer Island

    Sep 19, 2008

The front covers most of the device (black parts but the very edges not safe) the back was poor. I cleaned it extensively with 70% isopryl as soon as i got home and opened the box (brand new). It protects the flat part in the middle, but the curving part detaches instantly and this collects dust aka scratch inducer...i want refund.

If It Worked It Would Be Nice!

Written by MM from Grand Island

BE WARNED: $15 gets you one piece of plastic for the front and one for the back. If you mess up the application you are out your money and have to order a new one. $15 seems way too pricey for only one piece of plastic with only one shot to get it right.

I received mine in the mail, tried to apply it and had to trash it. The problem is that it seems near impossible to apply the cover without getting those HIGHLY ANNOYING bubbles. The tiniest spec of dust will create a bubble that does not go away. When I tried to apply the cover I kept getting bubbles. I would find the piece of dust and remove it and apply it again only to find a new piece of dust and a new bubble or two. Some bubbles you can rub out, but the ones created by dust don’t go away without getting every little spec of dust out. I actually got fairly close a couple of times to no bubbles. However, after messing with it for several minutes I had more specs of dust on there than I could deal with. I had to toss it and basically flushed $$$ down the drain. Applying this cover may be one of the most frustrating things you attempt in your life. Having a tennis ball nearby may be a good idea so if you feel the urge to throw something you have something other than your iPod available.

Nearly impossible to avoid dust & bubbles

Written by JR from Mount Pleasant

    Mar 2, 2008

I bought two of these, intending to gift one to a friend with an iPhone, while mine was for my Touch. Both went to waste as the nature of the static cling side acts as a vacuum to dust, and even the tiniest of micro-hairs of dust makes a bubble form when applying to the screen. Reading others' reviews I set out to create a dust-free environment in a room with no carpet to avoid such problems, but it was pointless. If you are concerned with keeping dust from between the film and your screen, you would need to be in a "clean room" lab.

It says you can rinse and reuse this, but even lint-free lense cloth (used for a DSLR lense, required to be dust free) leaves micro-hairs on the cling side, and it's next to impossible to remove. Furthermore if you do more than the lightest of rinsing/wiping, the film becomes permanently opaque, ruining it.

There's another set of these listed under the Apple Store with far lower rating, it's the same product but I'm convinced it was listed a second time to overcome the poor reviews. I would avoid this product if I were you.

Difficult to apply perfectly (very unforgiving of alignment mistakes and dust). Obscures screen so that you cannot enjoy the benefits of the crystal clear screen. If you watch movies, or play high graphics games, I would recommend putting your money towards a nice lens cloth, and a good case.

IMPOSSIBLE to apply without picking up dust...leading to air bubbles...unless you have access to a "clean room" at NASA! A total waste of $15.00.

    The worst product ever.

It is simple as that. The way that is built up, you have to use sterile gloves and be in a place with no dust at all. Otherwise you have to put up with a lot of bubbles in your screen.
    Waste of money.

    Don't Waste Your $20!

    Written by DW from Toronto

I had high hopes with this product having tried two other screen protector brands that either didn't cover the Touch screen completely or was lower quality. Power Support's anti-glare film is slick and prevents smudges but the trade-off is a defused screen resulting in a lower quality display. This defeats the purpose of the Touch's incredible screen hi-res display. I would not recommend this product. I'm going to try the Power Support Crystal Film next. Hopefully my results will be positive.

    Beware of the positive reviews

    Written by ZA from Morehead

There are many "content" and happy people which are leaving 5 star reviews for this screen.I suspect they may be working for the company.
Personally, I think its like setting fire to $15. There is NO WAY to get rid of air bubbles, I just took off the old screen after 1 month (looked like garbage) put the new one on VERY carefully and there were still impossible to remove airbubbles which ruin the screen visibility considerably. Its a dust magnet !
Buy it and you will regret !

    DONT BUY THIS

    Written by DB from Manlius

    Jun 8, 2008

This product is useless. When I tried to put it on, i couldn't allign it strait. When i gave up on alligning it, I tried to put it on. A tiny piece of dust can make a big ugly bubble that shows very well in dark spots. It was impossible to get all of the bubbles out. The screen itself distorts the colors and makes them look grainy. And on top of it all, do you really want to spend fifteen dollars plus tax on this?

I recently purchased this product for my iPod touch. I was not satisfied with it because the back part of the iPod is not fully protected. I think they should redesign the product to make it a Full body protector.

    Don't waste your money!!!

Written by GW from Owings Mills

I got the front and back ones on ok, except they both had air bubbles, fingerprints, and dust ALL OVER them. I dealt with it through camp cause it would be too dangerous, then i took off the back one since its useless anyway and I have a case. I left the front one on for a while but eventually the air bubbles and dust got really annoying so I took it off tried to clean it and put it back on and like two days later it fell off. What a waste of money! Now I have no scratch protection for the screen and I'm not wasting my money on another, plus they are way too expensive, my brother got one like this for his PSP and it costs like $15.

For those who are thinking about buying this, dont, worst waste of money. Not only did they forget to send me one of the peices of plastic, but by the time you put it on, it will be covered in dust. Then when you put it on, you have all of these little air bubbles. So i tried using a credit card to get rid of it, doesnt work. So when u turn ur ipod on, it will look like you ipod has coffe stains and dirt on it, thanks a lot apple =]

    Good idea, EXTREMELY OVERPRICED.

    Written by TK from Waukesha

These screen protectors are a great idea, and highly recommended to keep your Touch's screen free of damage, but $14.95 is FAR too expensive for a single screen protector and equivalent products can be found for a tiny fraction of that cost elsewhere. I would have given this one five stars if the price was at all reasonable, but it is obscenely overpriced and therefore gets two stars (as I reserve one star ratings for a product not worth having at all).

    Blurs the screen

    Written by CD from Charlotte

    Jul 15, 2008

I ordered this film for my ipod touch along with the magenta (pink) incase case. I cleaned my iPod as a previous user had suggested.. (wipe off very well with a slighty damp paper towel then wipe with a lint free towel.. The little cloth that comes with the iPod will work great for a final wipe.)

I had no problem applying the film.. Just line up the home button hole and then carefully smooth on.. That part wasn't a problem.. I finished that and put my case on and it looked great.. Then came the problem..

When I powered on my touch the film was immediately noticeable.. To me at least. Older people may not notice.. My mom said she couldn't tell a difference.. But it puts a filmy look on the screen which basically ruins the beautiful bright clear screen. For me it was too much of a detraction.

Then comes the second problem.. It says on the instructions that you can remove and reapply.. This doesn't work.. I tried to reapply it once I had taken it off tomake sure I didn't like it.. And it just didn't go on well.. So peoples Beware: this is a one shot deal... After and dust or big bubble gets under it it ruins it.

I chose to return it because I didn't like the way it made the screen look.. Plus the screen really doesn't need protection.. Just check out the youtubes showing durability tests .. The screens are incredibly durable and unscratchable.

So as a recap .. I'd say just save yourself the $$$

As for the incase case... Its absolutely fabulous :)

    Hope this helps
