Anti-Glare Film
not bad
Written by BC from Toronto

no fingerprints and feels smooth moving over the screen.
a bit tricky to line up when putting on, but I guess they are all like that. Was recommended this one from the apple shop guy. He said it wont leave finger prints.. he was right. Helps keep glass screen clean of face sweat too :)
There is some grainyness in the display, but nothing major. $CA15 for 2 is an okay price compared to others.

I stood in line a year ago to buy my iPhone and got the film set the same day. I still have the same sheet on my phone and I have even dropped my phone in a full Beer. The iPhone was fine but the beer didn't make it. A must buy.

Very good, but one bad thing
Written by CA from Waterford
Jul 17, 2008
The good, it stops finger prints, glare, and no scratches on the screen
The bad, doesn't fit the iphone 3G to good and it makes the screen grany.
But I don't mind it, I think it's a pretty good product5 of 6 people found this useful

Two Flaws, One Minor, One Fatal
Written by CW from Onojo-Shi
Jul 17, 2008
Pro: No fingerprints or greasy smears!
Pro: Nice smooth gliding action and tactile feel.
Pro: Good screen protection.
MAJOR Con: Causes graininess, artifacting, and general loss of screen focus/resolution.
Minor Con: Does not fit the 3G iPhone perfectly. It was designed for the slightly smaller 2G iPhone and never updated.
This would be the perfect screen protector, be it not for the fact that it noticeably decreases screen clarity, sharpness, and resolution while introducing screen artifacts and a shimmering effect on bright backgrounds.
Use of this screen protector with the 3G iPhone is akin to going from a beautiful 24" 1920x1200 flat-screen LCD display to a cruddy circa-1995 14" 640x480 CRT office monitor. I actually prefer the matte finish to glossy, but what I can't tolerate is the grain and fuzz this screen protector creates.
Also of minor concern is the fact that it is too small for the redesigned and slightly larger 3G iPhone, and as a result allows grit and grime to collect between the protectors edge and the 3G iPhone's outer bezel.
It's truly a shame, because this accessory gets a lot of things very very right. It seems like they should be able to design a matte-finish fingerprint-free solution that does not deteriorate image quality as this screen protector does. When that day comes, I'll ditch the glossy protector I purchased to replace this one and come back to the anti-glare side of the fence.
Other thought: It can be tricky to install for some people, but really all screen protectors are in the same boat. Patience, fastidiousness, and breath-holding are your friends.6 of 10 people found this useful

not perfect
Written by WJ from montville

all the reviews said this would kill fingerprints and even face grease, which it does, but it gives the phone a grainy sort of quality so when you're texting or ipod browsing or doing something with a white background, it's a little distracting
still, it keeps me from wiping my screen every three minutes so that's good

Don't leave the store without it.

When I purchased my first iPod, a 30GB Photo back a few years ago I was naieve and just used the iPod out of the box. About a week later it looked like it was used to play street hockey with.
Since then, whenever I've acquired an Apple iPod product, I don't take it out of the box unless I have a case.
When I got an iPod touch, I got a case but no screen protector. Not that the screen is ruined, but I can see how it would easily happen when I stick it in my pocket if there's change or keys hanging around. When I got my iPhone 3G I bought both a hard clear case and this film
This film is aweseome. It's much more than just protection, it's anti-glare. It gives the screen a nice feel, practically eliminates all glare, and best of all doesn't collect fingerprints at ALL! Using my iPod Touch to watch, FF/REW, and start/stop movies got the screen full of fingerprints and finger traces. Not at all with this on my iPhone. Probalby the best $15 I have spent on it so far.

Disappointed
Written by GB from Fort Worth

This does protect the screen nicely, but it gives the screen a grainy look. I find text a little harder to read (it appears a little fuzzy). The screen doesn't "wow" me like it does with a clear, or no, protector. It was installed by an Apple tech, and he did it correctly, but I think I'm gonna have to get something clear.

Does what its advertised
Written by PW from Kensington

This product is very good and does what its suppose to if its applied right. I put screen protectors on all my ipods and cellphones. This one i would recommend over the crystal film unless you just HAVE the shine, This prevented MOST glare and no fingerprints (which is why i got it) it does though give a white tint when the screens off but not noticeable when its on.
A trick i learned to put on the screen protector (from hours of trying with other ones and people from stores) is to use a bit of scotch tape to make a little tab and put it on the screen protector, then take off the backing film so now you don't have to touch the adhesive side of the protector preventing fingerprints and helping to prevent dust. and just start applying it from the bottom and squeegee the bubbles out until you get to the top. if its not lined just used the tape tab to pull it off and try again. Just make sure when you take off the backing not to touch anything on the adhesive side.12 of 12 people found this useful

This is my first iPhone and I wanted it fully protected. I couldn't be happier with the protection this screen provides. Not to mention as an added bonus it allows smoother navigation, anti-glare protection, and finger print resistance. All around amazing purchase.

The definitive review!
Written by JN from Walton on Thames
Jul 13, 2008
No wonder there are so many reviews here, the packaging really doesn't help distinguish between the Crystal Film Set, nor does the manufacturers website.
I bought both and tried both. In short, its a matter of taste but the questions you should ask are:
Do I mind fingerprints and smudges?
Do I want to preserve the glossy look of the iPhone glass?
If you want the glossy look get the Crystal Set. If you don't like the fingerprints you'll just have to carry a cloth with you all the time. If you don't mind the prints or carrying that cloth, and want the gloss, its the Crystal Set for you.
If you think prints will get on your nerves, if you think that carrying that cloth and wiping all the time will be a drag, and if you don't mind loosing the gloss, get the anti-glare.
The problem is you don't know if you want the gloss or not! I didn't, but upon installing the anti-glare, I decided I didn't care, the benefits of the anti-glare, for me, were much greater than the Crystal set. It gives a matt, slightly mottled look to the screen which I don't mind in the slightest, it prevents prints, and gives a lovely smooth touch feeling to the screen. I love it.
Only thing to bear in mind regardless of the choice you make... make sure there is NO dust on the screen before application, and when placing the end down as per the instructions, remember that even half a millimetre will alter the look once your done. I've not got it quite centred on the vertical and it annoys me regularly, but I don't want to risk damaging the film so I'm leaving it.
Four stars for a product I can't find fault with except for the price... each film can't cost more than 5p/10c to produce, but you get quality and two in a pack, many of the other brands only supply one.10 of 10 people found this useful

Excellent protection, fits iPhone 3G as well!
Written by DM from Groton

I was fortunate enough to be able to get an iPhone 3G on the release date. I picked these up knowing the glass is not the exact same size on the 3G compared to my standard iPhone which I replaced with the 3G. That said, the home button and the earpiece speaker are in the same locations in relation to each other so the film fit great. I cleaned the screen thoroughly before applying the film and it laid down right on the glass with not a single bubble. I applied the second to my old iPhone which I will be giving to my wife, which is a year old and it applied just as easily. Excellent product without a doubt. Control is actually a bit easier, the anti glare coating gives the surface of the glass a somewhat silky feel that your finger slides across very easily, leaving no fingerprints at all. Get this film today!

This film is simply the best I have ever seen on any type of handheld device... it is easy to apply, and once on, I forget I have anything on at all. It resists scratches and such itself and protects the face of the phone under extreme use conditions as well.

This product is pretty easy to apply, just make sure you clean your screen off very well because I found that bubbles like to form around little specks of crud. I love the way it makes my screen look, and it feels great to the touch. I just wish I had gotten this product when I first bought my phone- it's great!

Lovin it so far!!
Written by LG from Denton

I was going back and forth on if I should buy the anti-glare or crystal clear film and I decided to go for the anti-glare. When I went to the Apple store luckily the guy who helped me had a anti-glare protector on his phone so I was able to see what the screen would look like with it on. I decided to go for the anti-glare because I was looking for something to help eliminate the fingerprints, smudges, & oil from my fingers/face from using the phone. With the screen film on it has a "matte" finish but it beats seeing fingerprints & smudges. The brightness did not diminish & nor did I have to adjust it. It's not bothersome at all as some people have said. Applying it was easy, I just followed the recommedations that I had read on here. I didn't have any problems. It was alot easier to apply this protector than when I had applied my invisibleshield on my iPod. My husband liked how my iPhone felt & looked he had me apply the second film that comes in the package onto his iPhone.

Great so far!!

I am so glad that I bought this product. I just got it a few minutes ago and put it on...I can't understand why people had trouble installing this. I will admit that I had bubbles the first time and had to do it over, but that was my own fault. I didn't have any trouble removing it from the surface of my phone. The film didn't break or tear when I tried to get it off. I put my pink Jam Jacket right over it without any difficulties.
The film does not interfere with the vividity of the display. I was scared that it would interfere with the touch screen, but the functionality is exactly the same as with the film off!
It keeps fingerprings off! Yay!
I'm also quite happy that it shipped a day early! Now I can put my phone in my purse or pocket and not have to carry it around in my hand everywhere I go and accidentally leave it on a table in a restaurant or something!! (I'm prone to that. hahaha)
I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who wants to protect their baby from scratches:-) At first I thought the price was too high for "just a couple of pieces of plastic" but I promise it's really worth it.
