Love It!!

This game is awesome! if you like Age of Empires and simular games, I highly recommend this one. It has never failed on me. It provides hours of fun. replay-ability is very high. I like going through the campaign again every now and then. Excellent expansion pack for the game as well. AE III is much better than AE II as well. They did a great job on making the game better! You don't have to start any of your civilazations over when you add the expansion pack either. You can just keep playing with the new stuff right from where you left off.

Age of Empires 3: The Warchief Expansion Pack
Good expansion pack.

Age of Empires III the Warchiefs Expansion pack is definetely worth getting. Playing Age of Empires III without Warchiefs is fun for a while, but then it gets old. The Warchiefs changes this and makes this game 10 times more interesting. The Campaigns to me seem more historically realistic than the AOE3 (non-Warchiefs) campaigns. Battles such as Bunker Hill, Valley Forge, and Yorktown are featured along with others. In the campaigns you have George Washington under your command which is very interesting. You'll find yourself fighting General Cornwallis in battle after battle. This is a good expansion pack, but I want to say that although the system requirements for AOE3 Warchiefs are the same as AOE3, my iMac seemed to bog down quicker under Warchiefs than just regular AOE3. If your Mac barely runs AOE3 then you might want to be careful about installing Warchiefs as it seems to demand more. My 1 GB of memory seems just barely adequate; the days of 1 GB being enough are just about over as 2 GB is becoming the standard. I hope to upgrade my iMac to 2 GB of memory soon. The Warchiefs overall is a good expansion pack, but just make sure your computer can handle it. For reference, my computer specs: 20 in. iMac, 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 1 GB DDR 2 667, ATI Radeon X1600 128 MB.

Age of Empires 3: The Warchief Expansion Pack
Not worth it yet.

ES has left the balance horrendous. This is hard to understand because they balanced the original game, AoE3, halfway through it's first year. Yet they can't balance three more civilizations in that same time frame? Until they balance this game out and release the patch for macs, this is not worth the buy.
Overall though, content wise, ES did a nice job and this game could have a lot more potential if they listened to the community and balanced it. Last time I checked the last patch was released 120 days (~4 months) ago. I don't call that "frequent patching".
P.S. Why are the Mac counterparts $5 more for the expansion pack and original game? $30 is already steep for an expansion pack, and the PC version of the original can be found for $30 in many stores.57 of 117 people found this useful

Age of Empires 3: The Warchief Expansion Pack
Good but not Great

I have been playing The War Chiefs expansion on a PC, and the Mac version is supposed to be the same as the most recent patch for TWC. It does give a lot of upgrades for the European civilizations, and a lot of new cards, which are quite good. You receive an additional card in your deck for every 10 levels your home city increases up to level 50. You get a large number of new maps, that for the most part are quite good. The huge pumpkin on the Plymouth map is a blast. However, there is a general complaint on the game comment boards that the new Native Civilizations are badly overpowered, with no new patch in sight. Overall, it is worth buying, but be prepared to do some editing of xml files if you want better game balance.
