Need for Speed Carbon
The best Mac game so far
Written by AN from CARROLLTON

The rendering is flawless on my Macbook Pro. It works beautifully. I just love the game.
Games was the only reason I missed Windows. Hopefully that gap will slowly get filled.634 of 922 people found this useful

What the? No Widescreen Support!?
Written by JS from New Haven
Sep 16, 2007
The Need for Speed series has always been solid and the Carbon port is no exception. The game play is tight, and responsive. Graphically, its great as well though you will have to play around with the settings. But what really bothers me is the apparent lack of widescreen support. I have a 16:10 MBP, with a wondrous widescreen display and all I could find was 4:3 resolutions. That is just not right... If I am mistaken, let me know and add a star to my score. The game play is great and that is the main reason to play this game.

Excellent Game!

I love this game! I have it for my Nintendo Wii and now for my Macbook. The graphics are great, the only problem is that sometimes when i go to exit the program, after I select yes i would like to quit, it freezes. It only happened twice out of 7 times or so but that is the only thing that i would look into. If you like Need for Speed games, then definitely look into buying this one!

First off all, the folks claiming that they are getting low framerates, lags and bla bla, either have to be lying or they are doing something wrong.
I have a 17" iMac 2.0ghz C2Duo, 2GB RAM, 128mb Ati X1600 and i couldn't believe how smooth, and i mean smooth and tight this game runs. Installed first day, and i was racing left and right. The cars are so tight and fast, that i get a rush when playing.
This game runs perfect on my system, not one hiccup as the folks below are mentioning. And you absolutely do not need a Mac Pro to run this smoothly, please!! Go get this game !!116 of 161 people found this useful

This is seriously one of the best games for mac. The graphics are pretty amazing, considering it was made in 2006. Also it works with my logitech controller so thats a plus.
For all u people saying it doesn't work with leopard, I don't know what you're doing, because it works just fine on my imac.78 of 93 people found this useful

Very Fun
Written by LD from Mississauga

Great, fun game. Lots of so called "missions," places to explore, near countless races to compete in, and plenty of cars and subsequent modifications for said car options. Runs very well (and looks good) on my Mac mini (Early 2009 with Geforce 9400 graphics) once the graphic settings are optimized.

Very disappointed with his port, playing it on my MBP 2.2, 2gb ram, 128mb vram is frustrating. i get every kind of graphical glitch, like some rainbow things goin on, reflections during gameplay are all messy, and it bugs and skip frames, lowering graph settings makes it so dark that's almost unplayable.. and fact is that this game runs flawlessly under bootcamp.

Perfect

This game runs awesome on a MacBook Pro. I don't know why people are complaining about crashes and graphic related problems.
I suggest anyone with problems should check their configuration. The MacBook's don't have the top notch graphic cards however you can expect a playable game with the configuration set right.
Already finished the game in two days!63 of 80 people found this useful

Good Port!
Written by CG from McMinnville

I have a 2.33 Ghz MBP with ATI x1600 256mb and 2gig ram. The game runs FINE on medium settings with some highs mixed in on 1024 resolution. I have played about four hours so far and it has ran like a champ. I think it runs very well for being a Cider port, and I think it runs very well for running on a laptop. Play with your graphics settings when you get it and it will pay off. Remember the more ram the better for this game.
If you enjoy car racing games I think this is the game for you. It has a corny story-line but is fun to play and try and out run cops! I think the game couldn't have been ported any better, just play with the graphics and have fun!61 of 77 people found this useful

EA has come out with many need for speed games but this is the best yet. with hundreds of races to do and lots of cars to choose from, you'll be engaged into the game for hours at a time. plus the short videos in between the races are clearer than ever, its hard to tell if they're real or not. this game is sure to entertain anyone.

Runs Great, People neeed too look at graphic cards!
Written by SP from West Linn

I have a Mac Pro and this thing screams. People are getting a bunch of ram and really fast processors and don't get me wrong that stuff really helps! But people need to get good graphic cards in there mac's too. You can't expect to get perfect graphics out of a 256Mb card.
I have a NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 512MB and this thing runs perfect on all the highest settings. People can not get the cheapest graphic cards and expect to get the perfect screen play. You need to get everything from processor and ram TO A GOOD GRAPHICS'S CARD.
So don't complain when you get a cheaper card if you want stunning graphics's you will have to pay for it, but IT IS WORTH IT!!!61 of 80 people found this useful

System requirements a little misleading...
Written by MS from Pittsburgh
Aug 28, 2007
On a 20" iMac (2GHz Core Duo) with 2GB RAM and a 256MB Radeon x1600, this game will often momentarily pause or hitch up visually when new scenery appears on screen or when more than a few cars are on screen at the same time. It may run fine on a newer/better machine but I'm very disappointed in the game's performance on my system given that it exceeds the published system requirements. The game itself seems pretty cool and would probably rate four stars but I'm knocking two off for the performance issues. Hopefully, EA will address this problem at some point but for now, those just meeting or exceeding the requirements should probably steer clear.
