    Written by GB from Torrance

Upgraded to Leopard and there is no video (but I can hear the sound playing). No support from ea.com. Great game under 10.4, but 10.5 its a no-show.

    NFSC is "Blind" in Leopard

Written by LR from Tower Lakes

Need for Speed Carbon does NOT work in Leopard. I bought NFSC not too long ago and it worked fine on Tiger. I just upgraded to Mac Leopard and now the game plays with sound only and all I can see is a black screen?? Does anyone know how to fix this.. I was in the middle of a "Career" and now I cant play the game any more!

    runs much BETTER on leopard

Well Ill start of by saying i wasn't too impressed with this game when i first bought it. It was quite slow & Choppy, plus it kept kicking me out of the game in the first quarter of the first lap of the first game. I was excited to get it and happy to see it go... Then, Steve the magic Apple fairy came down from heaven and blessed this Earth with awesomeness to be know world wide as " L E O P A R D ", I thought after spending countless hours installing all of my programs , hey why not give it one more try. One word people " W O W ", the graphics and lighting and sound all suddenly came together to form NFS Carbon,

Anyways i thought i would let you all know that on a intel 2.4 macbook pro need for speed works perfectly when united in glory with Leopard.

    running:
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
    GeForce 8600M GT

even with this i cried when it wouldn't work on tiger so well

First, the good. This game is so good. I had to put it away as I just wanted to keep playing it, and race the next race. The intensity of the other races, along with the police chases simultaneous is sweet.
Second, the bad (not too much to say). Okay, so there is no widescreen. Too bad. I hope EA is working overtime to fix this problem. There is also some lag within certain races, and my new mac book is mac daddy.
    Great game!

It's all about the Graphics Card

Written by EG from Silver Spring

Ok I'm tired of watching you people slamming the game with 1 and 2 starts because you can't get it to work. It works just fine. I have the X1900 graphics card. You don't have to have a 30 inch screen and a Mac Pro to run this game. My one complaint is that they don't have what I would call a great variety of racing grounds on the streets because they tend to look similar. But other than it's an awesome game worth every penny. Car upgrades are great to. Have fun. Only sound drawback is the fact that it does not work with USB speakers. Which I have the Bose Companion 5s but it works with your internal speakers, but I love using my headphones.
Anyway good luck, it's a fun game, stop complaining

Have it running on a V1 Macbook Pro with 2Ghz but with the 256MB Grafikcard. Too bad it doesn't run in widescreen, but runs with high detail fluently.
Nice game for fans of the Series, and to show off to your friends that your Mac can play games. :)

    Not worth it.

On my new 24" iMac this game is really buggy, It never exits properly, I always have to force a restart. This game's graphics really don't look like anything amazing, and the controls are awkward. The game's content itself is also just plain annoying, at least in the beginning of career mode there are at least 30 minutes of useless movies that really don't need to be half as long as they are. This game really has nothing that makes it worth the money (or any money at that). This game was also definitely not worth the hype or wait that its announcement at the keynote generated.

    Terrible.

    Written by RS from Oakton

The worst. Crashes halfway through the first race, so i had to choose a different car to start the game. Controls revert to default at weird points during gameplay. Skips and shuts down constantly. For some reason won't escalate chases past the very beginning of level two, even though i'm about a quarter into the game. Not worth it. I like my mac, but it's true... they don't play games. I'll just buy an xbox or something.

This game runs awesome on a MacBook Pro. I don't know why people are complaining about crashes and graphic related problems.

I suggest anyone with problems should check their configuration. The MacBook's don't have the top notch graphic cards however you can expect a playable game with the configuration set right.

Already finished the game in two days!

Looks wonderful, but is incredibly unstable. This game seems to not been beta-tested enough before release. The game gets more unstable as you advance; until it gets to a point where it unplayable. Reinstalling the game does not fix the problem. Wait until there is an update before even thinking of purchasing NFS. A terrible disappointment. Avoid at all costs; for now.

The game is excellent! The cars are very beautifully designed (looks very realistic), and the game plays very well with highest settings on my Macbook Pro Core 2 Duo, X1600 128MB laptop. The lack of widescreen support is a MINOR drawback...when you're in the action, do you look at the black bars on the side, or the center of the game? Great game overall!

I've got a first generation 24" iMac that meets all the system requiremenst but when I run the game on the higest resolution, the frame rate takes a noticable slow down. I'm going to add another GB of RAM to see if that helps. Other than that, this is a fun game to play.

How do they dare sell a game for $40 without testing it?

Cannot get past the second career race because it crashes in the middle always at the same place.

Letting you all know that is is a REALLY bad port, buggy, slow, hardy playable. Watch out. And battlefield is worse.....

    Way to go, EA!

After years of jealous looks over the fence, one can now enjoy one of the best racing games ever on the (Intel-)Mac. Running flawlessly on my 15" Macbook Pro 2.16 Ghz Core 2 Duo (ATI X1600 128MB graphics), I’m thrilled with excitement about this title. The cars feel extremely real, the gameplay is perfect, there are lots of playing modes, and you can tune 'till you drive the car you always dreamed of. Graphics and sound are also excellent. Only drawback is the lack of widescreen support, if this would be added I'll clearly rate it 5 stars.

I bought this game after reading the reviews, and boy am I disappointed. I have a MBP 2.4 17" high res screen with the top of the line graphics and 2 gig of ram. The graphics are decent but game play is horrible along with the cars speed being to slow and terrible reponse to the game pad. I have played other EA games such as Burnout Revenge on Xbox and and there is no comparison.

    Mixed feelings

    Written by RM from Brunswick

I have a 2.4 Ghz MacBook Pro (LED) w/2 GB RAM. NFSC constantly crashes and is essentially unplayable. This could be due to the graphics card in the MBP. On the other hand, it does play nicely on my iMac CoreDuo 1.83 Ghz w/1 GB RAM. It would have been nice to see it running on the MacBook Pro which was the machine I originally wanted to use it on. Perhaps EA (or Apple with a graphics driver update) will issue a patch in the near future to allow this. I'm giving NFSC a 4 since it works well on the iMac, but 0 stars for the MacBook Pro.
