Great when it's smooth
Written by TD from Evanston

I'm running on this on a 2.8 Ghz 24" iMac with 4gb of RAM and the Radeon 2600HD video card. It's a great game when things are going well, but it gets extremely choppy from time to time. Apparently the choppiness affects both the visual output and the response to input, because gameplay gets really inconsistent. Turning off shadows in the game settings seemed to help. If you mess around with the detailed graphics settings, you'll be able to get some decent results, but that really shouldn't be necessary.
For what it's worth, I ran Tiger Woods 07 through boot camp with Vista on this same computer and it works a TON better. Poor Mac programming, EA!43 of 80 people found this useful

I Have a 3ghz 8Core MacPro with a Nvidia 8800 512MB and 16GB Memory!
The game doesn´t Start and gives me the following message:
"The game does not officially support this video card. You may experience performance problems while running the programm."
When it does not run on my little fellow...what Do you Need then??????
After the message it crashes, I haven´t seen a single screenshot. I already returned it! Waht a waste of time.61 of 101 people found this useful

I have an iMac24 2.4 game runs okay sometimes, but most times there are a lot of graphic problems and games seems to freeze. The frustration level of the software keeps me from enjoying the game.

Game play is erratic. I have an coreduo 2.4 iMac and on certain holes it does not play smoothly. I also downloaded the patch that apple recommended. I am very disappointed with the performance of this game.

Great Graphics - Good Gameplay - Some Minor Quirks
Written by AK from Brookline
Jan 31, 2008
The game has some quirks, but plays very well on my 2.4ghz iMac. Played it before and after upgrading from 1GB to 3GB ram. Quality seemed identical with both configurations. Patch addresses some, but not all issues (occasional sound issues and flashing textures). However, game has fantastic graphics and generally good gameplay.

What a great game, if you have not downloaded the patch from EA Sports you will need to. On my iMac, 20 inch this is just unreal, the graphic are to good to be true. It looks like real water and when the wind blows the leaves on the tree do their thing. No freeze ups, no color distortion. It is a tuff game, but once you get the feel of the controller or even your mouse, look out, better than the PC version.

Do Not Bother To Purchase
Written by LJ from Draper
Jan 10, 2008
The game is very enjoyable when it works, but that is not often enough to make it worth the bother. I have had to reload the game 6 times in less than 2 months and lost the golfer I created.
I have spent the last month trying to get support from Electronic Arts but there is only one person that supports the Mac and he has been on vacation for the past month. I have been promised 6 times that someone would call me back to try and resolve the problem but I have never received a return call. I spoke with a person in the corp office today trying to get support and he essentially told me to quit bothering them.
I am running OS X 10.4.11 on a Mac Pro 2 x 2.66 Dual Core with 8 GM of memory.119 of 198 people found this useful

Not Bad - But Differing Results
Written by SH from Oakville
Jan 3, 2008
Received for a holiday gift. Installed on my MBP C2D 15" and used an external Mighty Mouse - game ran nearly perfectly. Now back home and installed on my 20" iMac C2D (purchased just prior to aluminum debut) and it is very choppy at times with some graphics corruption. Not nearly as enjoyable and very strange as the processor, ram and graphics on the MBP and iMac are identical. Heck, the iMac should be better due to a faster HD....
Must say that prior to converting to macs from PC's I played TW06 with XP and had stutters and such al the time. I think EA needs a good kick in the pants on this title.68 of 128 people found this useful

Game Doesn't Run.....
Written by JB from Stickney

Game takes forever to load. Then the screen goes black and I am dumped back into the desk top. No help from EA Sports or the apple store. Very disappointed with the game. Cannot return it and the store will not exchange it. I am stuck with a game that does not work. Hopefully EA will come up with something so my money is not wasted.

Good product on Mac Pro Quad
Written by RS from Bartlesville
Dec 17, 2007
I read all the sour grape reviews here before buying and hesitated to buy.
I took the plunge and purchased PGA Tour 08 recently and it plays fine on my Mac Pro Quad.
I'm sympathetic to players with Intel graphics systems that are having difficulty. But it is running just fine on my Nvidia Geforce 7300 GT graphics card.42 of 70 people found this useful

This game works well with Leopard on my 15" MBP. No glitches so far. Using the mouse as the controller seems to be pretty straightforward. I would only say that the single-player mode gets old after a few weeks. After my first round of 18, I was routinely getting birdies and the occasional eagle. So, not the greatest challenge there. But the other reviews commenting on problems with Leopard/Intel have not been issues for me in the least.

Tiger Woods Golf turns out to run just fine!
Written by RF from Lacey
Nov 28, 2007
When I purchased the new Tiger Woods 08 Golf, I had to spend a couple 15-20 minute sessions figuring out how to run the game. I figured it out after that and it turns out to be a lot of fun and a good challenge.
I bought a new IMac recently. The 2.4 mghz, extra memory ram 2 gig's. It runs like a charm. It might be the extra memory from 1 gig to 2 gig's that makes a big difference in how smoothly the game runs. Give it a chance, it turns out to be a lot of fun to play.27 of 43 people found this useful

bug riddenl and no support from Electronic arts
Written by ND from london
Nov 21, 2007
On the electronic arts sports page you can click for support on every platform OTHER than the mac. The sound sometimes turns off totally and you have to restart the game. Bits of text are appearing as block graphics that look like some kind of indecipherable code. I can't find a patch anywhere to sort this. Also my player seems to have an inexplicable growth coming out of his shoulder. When it works its good. No wonder everyone is playing pc games on their mac. Well the ones that can get b o o tcamp to work in the first place (I'm not one of them).

No open box Returns
Written by OT
Nov 20, 2007
The only thing that Truly upsets me is that the apple store sold me a game that does not work well on my brand new mac book pro (2.2ghz) and they will not accept a return, because the box was open. this shows me that apple will not stand by the products that they sell.
game play is horrendous. I have well over the requirements for the game and still I can only have 800x600 res. better still every other swing is glitched so the ball goes off into the rough even with Tiger.
