problems....
Written by MC from New York
Oct 15, 2007
I have a new imac, and the game is not displaying properly on it. The text is all jumbled on the screens, and the drop-down menus are illegible. Anyone else having problems? The game is unplayable right now--hence the one star.
Is it just my computer? Anyone else having issues?390 of 700 people found this useful

the madden curse continues!!
Written by LF from Wellington
Oct 15, 2007
boy o' boy. the madden curse is true, everyone gets hurt and now the game is hurt. It barely loads to begin with, once it does, the menus are all garbled. Lots graphic issues on a brand new aluiMac with a 256 HD video card. EA, how do you put out this game without fully testing it.
It's going back tomorrow!49 of 79 people found this useful

madden 08 or madden 05?
Written by RT from Phoenix
Oct 16, 2007
when i heard of madden 08 coming to mac i was very excited about it because i wasn't going to have buy a 360 to play it but after playing it today i was very disappointed and the main reason why is because it looks like a souped up version of madden 05 on the xbox i mean don't get me wrong it looks very good i mean the grass looks real, the weather effects are great but the player bodies didn't get the upgrade it runs well on my mac pro 3.0 dual core intel xeon , 4GB, ATI radeon x1900 xt graphics card with all the settings on high so if your expecting a 360 experience i would recommend not to purchase this game but if u don't mind that i guess it will have to do till next year one more thing if you have usb speakers like bose it will sound awful

I am disappointed in EA with the release of Madden 08 on OS X
They should not advertise this title... What a let down,
Buyers & True Football gamers beware..... don't expect much
This is going back to the store ... I'd rather have Madden 06 on my PS 2

stay away
Written by JK from Rockford

I have never seen anything so bad, looks like a bad windows game from the 90's. Cant use the menus, could not even get to the game itself. But it is better than Tiger Woods, that EA game shut my machine down. And I cant even give it zero stars, one star is one too many.

What's up with online play?
Written by SM from Dublin
Oct 17, 2007
I ordered the game because I had bought the Wii version and it sucked. The graphics and gameplay are much better than the Wii's. So in that respect I have to give it a higher score. The players don't look that realistic though. My major problem is with online play. First you can't get it to register through the disk so I had to register through EA online. I'm still having issues getting to go online to play though. It says I have an outdated version. How can I have an outdated version if I just bought it? The instructions say to go to the update from the launch menu - too bad it doesn't exist. How do I resolve this?

Everyone is having the problem. There is a problem with it. You can't read anything all the text is jumbled. This causes the gamplay to be unplayable. I pre ordered the day they announced it and have been so psyced. This is a major let down. I think they were to rushed for the release. Anyway, don't but it and if you did don't open it. Return it and wait and eventually they will fix the problem!

Not So Good
Written by MS from Dayton
Oct 18, 2007
I'm having a problem with distorted menus. I know that others are having the same problem and this is what support.ea.com says:
We are aware of an issue where the video card will not load textures correctly and will not display any of the game text correctly. This is a driver issue with the ATI card and will be resolved in the next system update by Apple later this month.
Hopefully this fixes the issue. I'm also having problems with the Mad Catz controller. Mad Catz doesn't know what to do yet. Answers to these problems would be nice. Why would they release this without making sure it worked first?7 of 11 people found this useful

Wasted my money...
Written by CB from Fort Worth
Oct 18, 2007
I have always loved the Madden games, but this was a waste of my money. I have a three week old iMac 20" and I cannot play this game.
- The text is all jumbled and most of the time not even showing up
- The MadCatz (brand new) controller doesn't work. It is off calibration.
- I have no idea what I am doing because of the text jumbling, thus it is unplayable.
Might try to sell it or just throw it away. Maybe we can return it? A Patch coming soon? Don't buy this. It's a waste of money and probably won't work. Sad.2 of 2 people found this useful

not bad
Written by DW from Fresno
Oct 18, 2007
I have the last generation G5 and the minimum operating requirements, and the game works perfectly. No jumbled words, no problems registering either. The graphics are so so but the player intelligence is a thousand times better than in previous titles. Im very happy that i purchased it! My only complaint is Vince Young on the cover...

Controller Issues

The game works fine on my iMac so far. The problem has been the gamepad. Anyone have any recommendations for a gamepad that actually works with the game?

works fine & gamepad suggestion
Written by DS

intel imac with 1 gb of ram...after turning down the video detail settings for crowds and other less important images the game works fine for me...have played complete games and begun a franchise without any issues...the drop down menu's and all graphics are clear and legible unlike reports by others..
i had bought a universal pc/mac gamepad from wal-mart called "game elements" by gemini that produced effect reported by others...auto non-stop scrolling thru meus...picked up a logitech rumblepad 2 (cordless) which worked as soon as i plugged it in..this is a slightly older model I picked up new for $55 cdn...high quality but slightly heavy...but it works...Tiger 08 btw does not appear to support gamepad play16 of 22 people found this useful

Game play great, everything else... no
Written by PS from Saint Charles
Oct 19, 2007
I don't have the menu problems. after researching that, it seems to happen to graphics cards that are ATI build... so Nvidea and GeForce macbook pros like me are all right. the Mad Catz controller is however constantly scrolling in the menu's makeing it impossible to use it. (assuming you have figured out how to set the game up to use it in the first place) after talking to Mad catz, it seems to happen only on Madden 08. (hmm, odd dont you think?) When trying to connect to Online play, a menu shows saying that you dont have an updated version of the game (as i noticed charlie Frye is still on the browns) and then tells you to find the "update" option in the main menu... all be it, there is no such menu.
All things can be fixed in a patch by EA, all though. The online component should have been imediatly avaiable, this is just riduclous that i have to learn how to use the keyboard for playing... and just playing the cpus i might add.4 of 9 people found this useful

I must be lucky
Written by DH from Cary
Oct 19, 2007
I wonder if I am the only one who hasn't had any problems with text? To me the game has been great so far, I haven't had any problems with graphics/audio etc. My one and only problem is with online play: It doesn't seem to exist. When I try to connect, it tells me that I have an out of date version and it needs to be updated. It says to click a phantom Update button that does not exist anywhere. It also says you can download it manually by going to ea.easports.com but there is nothing whatsoever on the EA Sports website.
I consider myself lucky that I'm not experiencing any of the other problems reported so far. I actually enjoy the game and think that the graphics are solid. I'm using a 15" 2.33ghz MBP with 3gb RAM if anyone was wondering.13 of 20 people found this useful

Looks Great! but Game Pad controller bug
Written by JF from boone
Oct 19, 2007
Glad to see Madden come over to the good side.
It locked up the first time I started it. After one reboot game play is great.
Running on Mac Pro 2.6 ATI Radeon X1900 XT. GFX are great. Menus and everything look great. All options high running at highest res. Only problem I have found is one bug. After thinking I got 2 new DOA Mad Catz game controllers I realized there is a bug that behaves like there is a stuck joystick in the up position. These joysticks work in other games. Still fun to play with the Keyboard!
