    Glad I Ordered It

I have a 15" MacBook Pro, but after comparing the dimentions of the 13" and 15" stand, I decided to take a chance and ordered the 13" stand for my Mac instead. And it is just fine. I took off the bulky front bumper, and true, the sides do stick out, but only just a little, and the width from the front to the back is the exact fit. The Mac sits perfectly steady, and I don't need to be bothered with something bigger that takes up more room. So far, so good!

I have had this stand for about three weeks for my 13" Macbook Pro, and have been very happy with the way it performs. I use it on my lap, not on a desk, and it definitely keeps the laptop much cooler and is very comfortable to use. The screen is positioned at just the right height for easy viewing. The built-in feet on the laptop do a fine job of holding the computer in place, without using the rubber feet included with the stand.

Some reviewers had an issue with the wrist rest, but I think it is very comfortable and the fabric seems durable. Perhaps there has been a running change to the product?

I LOVE THIS PRODUCT!!! I have this stand for about three years now; ever since I bought my MacBook. It is only now that I'm writing a review, because I was visiting its section in the store looking to see if they made an accessory (bracket) for it, where I could attach a portable ext. hd to the underside of the stand. As for the stand itself, I've attached it to my laptop and totally got rid of the removable front cushion. I felt the cushion was just in the way. I just placed 4 1" squares of velcro over the 4 rubber feet on the bottom of the mac, then put the other side of the velcro to corresponding spots on the stand, and vwala! -Instant permanent stand. Works great. It's lasted 3 1/2 years. Although I have replaced the velcro on the bottom of the mac a couple of times. At any rate, great stand!

5 Star Ratings on this Product are Rediculous

The Rain Design iLap (any size...) was "designed" for one purpose: A Photo Shoot. The functionality of this product is horrible, namely in the operation of the foam wrist pad. Basically its a foam core wrapped in a velvet[-ish] cloth- and only wrapped. I elaborate there because its the cloth that attaches to the stand (via a sewn in clip), which gives no actual form to keep the system attached. That is, the inner core simply floats around inside the cloth wrapper and the entire pad just hangs from its clip most of the time (if it stays on at all). Now keep in mind, its the pad that keeps the laptop from sliding forward (due to the angle of the iLap) into your "upper" lap. With it flopping about, the laptop proves to be unstable as well, constantly moving out of position. They give you some rubber feet to attach to the laptop, but this solution seems like an afterthought. Who wants to put an extra set of sticky rubber feet on their Mac? Feet that will just fall off after a short time (as mine have) any way. A more intuitive method would have been to rubberize the contact zones on the iLap itself... which brings me to the question of, "Why do I find myself modifying my "designer" laptop stand just to get it to work?"

Whats more, the texture of the cloth on this pad tends to pick up every piece of lint available. Mine, for example, is forever a Splotchy Red from a throw it occasionally comes into contact with. Ugly.

    I HATE IT

I have had this product for about a year and it is awful to use. It does help with the dissipation of the heat but the front cushion constantly falls of and even when it is connected it moves around a lot. I am constantly adjusting it. Almost every time I pick up the computer it falls off.

    totally frustrating

The velvet roll that the computer rests on in the front pops off CONSTANTLY. Incredibly frustrating and an obvious and inexcusable design flaw. The company glued a strip of material onto the metal in order to keep the velvet slider from coming off, so obviously they are aware of the problem and sell the item anyway. This bit of material is not enough to keep the flimsy plastic slider in place, so i have had to glue numerous strips of fabric on in order to keep the velvet roll from falling off constantly. This is pretty inexcusable on a product made with cheap materials that costs 50$.

    loved it after first use

I just received the product today and am very satisfied after first use because of these reasons:

    - sharp design
    -comfortable pads
-elevates the macbook to a comfortable viewing height when laying down
-keeps the macbook nice and cool

I really do not see anything wrong with this product. I was hesitant to buy it at first, but after a couple weeks I finally took the plunge and am very happy I did. If you are looking for a product to keep your macbook cool and give you a nice viewing range in bed, this is a great product.

    iLap really works!

I was getting worried about my laptop overheating too much so I looked at laptop cooling pads online, but none of them convinced me. All of them had to be connected to the computer through a USB cable so it could work. Glancing through the Apple Store web site, I saw the iLap and read that it helped to cool the laptop. Plus, it made it comfortable to use it on your lap and on a table. The only bad thing about this product is the price. I paid $55. But I am 100% satisfied and would recommend it to anyone. My laptop doesn't overheat and it's very comfortable. I love it!!! Thanks iLap!

    Unconventional and Funtional

I have to admit that this was a very cool laptop stand that offers quite a bit of versatility with how you use your laptop in various locations of your home. I wasn't sure what to expect since I never considered a stand that has built in cushions for arm and lap comfort. However, when I first used the stand while sitting on my chair, I was very impressed with how comfortable it was. Plus the stand comes with very little adhesive stoppers that help keep the laptop on the stand (which was a nice touch). I also like how the stand feels and looks on my desk. The front cushion is nice to rest your wrists on while you type. The main purpose for getting the stand was for better air circulation, which this accomplishes perfectly. The only reason I deducted a star was because of the cost. I thought it was a little high (maybe $10 less would make more sense). However, it is a great product and delivered on everything it promised.

    Simplicity. Perfection. Almost.

Ok. To be honest, I really didn't like this product at first. I didn't like the cushion (for no reason, lol), I didn't like the fact that the little stick- on rubber grips didn't come pre- installed, and I thought the product was completely over priced for what it gave.

Now, my stance after about 3 days is completely different. Rain design has really found a way to do what all the other heavy, also over priced stands do. Yet they have done it with a few pieces of lightweight aluminum and a few cushions. This is what really makes this comfortable. On the desk, it raises my computer to the perfect height (without the forward cushion). On the lap is where it gets really comfortable. Its so comfortable with the front cushion on. Thats what really changed my mind. Then, I really noticed how much of a difference it makes when it comes to the heat. It never overheats anymore. EVER. And trust me, my computer is professional when it comes overheating. This product is THE stand. Its perfect. Almost.

The only complaint I have is the price. Who wants to pay $40.00 for a piece of aluminum and a few cushions? I mean I just don't get the part that makes this so pricey. But whatever. Everyday this stand is paying for itself. Its worth the price.

Thanks for taking your time out to read this :D

    Hope it helps.

Buy this Product, why? Because it's simply amazing and works. Here's what you need to know...

    -Keeps Macbook cool (Yes!!)
-Can use in bed/couch/desk, in any position (Yes!!)
    -Comfortable (Yes!!)
-Slip Guards keep computer in place (Yes!!) [position slip guards so that they're aligned right under rubber grips on bottom of your Macbook]

I use the iLap all day everyday, and I don't have to worry about my computer getting hot at all. My computer is either cool or luke warm. I use it while sitting/laying on the couch/bed, or while I'm at my desk. Just an all around great product and great design. Its worth buying.

After reading reviews of the iLap I went out and bought one... and I couldn't be happier. The cushion provides a nice place for my arms to rest, and the iLap keeps my aluminum MacBook nice and cool. I gave the product four stars because $50 is a lot of money to pay... but it was worth it to me.

I bought my first iLap for a MacBook Pro four years ago and when I passed the notebook on to my son, he got the iLap too. He now has a new MacBookPro but he still uses the same iLap and can't be without it. I bought another iLap when I replaced the notebook I gave away. It keeps my MacBook cool, it's light and easy to transport, you can work for hours without getting tired. It goes everywhere I take my MacBook. I did have a problem with the velvety pad sliding off so I put a piece of velcro on the metal and that holds it firmly in place. Today, I am waiting for another iLap to be delivered. Like a few of the other couples that made reviews, my husband and I have been fighting over it. Now he will have his own! If you have any kind of MacBook then you will want one of these.

I absolutely love this product. It keeps my Macbook nice and cool while I surf the web from the couch. Also, I really like that I can remove the wrist cushion and still have the soft velcro on the bottom to help prevent the metal from scratching anything. I couldn't live without this contraption!

...your future children. This was just what I needed to save my nether regions from the burns which would otherwise be courtesy of my MacBook.

The only reason I gave it 4 stars was for the price. I mean, how much does it really cost to manufacture a sheet of aluminum and 2 velvety pads?!

I'm glad i purchased the iLap. It's great for when you wanna surf the internets while watching your favorite TV shows or Apple TV.

I do love using this product and have used it everyday since I bought it, however, after having it for about 3 months the foam pad on the front keeps falling off. This drives me crazy! I love the fact that it tilts so you can use it laying down or sitting up. The only negative so far is the foam padding in the front, if it would stay on it would be wonderful!
