I've been desperately looking for an outliner since the MORE days. Now it looks, and feels, like if this outliner is it!

I read the ad copy and decided this was a program that I could not live without, wrong. I had hoped that OmniOutliner 3 would help me organize my thoughts and provide an easy to use structure. I have spent hours working with it and find nothing here that I don't have in MS Word or in Pages. I haven't thrown in the towel yet but the money spent was not worth the value.

I tried this software because it came with a Mac I bought. Now I've got copies for all my machines. I used to make my outlines in Word, not realizing that an outlining tool existed. Not only can I make an outline in a tenth of the time it used to take, but I have started using this software for all sorts of lists that I used to write down by hand. This is great!!

OmniOutliner Pro is the best environment in which to write academic papers. Build an outline, move things around, use inline notes to write comments about things your outline needs, and append video, audio, web clippings, PDFs, and other research documents easily. Once the outline is the way you want it, write the text in OmniOutliner Pro, with each outline entry a paragraph. Export the finished product to Word or Pages for final formatting. OmniOutliner Pro does it all in an intuitive, serene, Mac-like way.
Why only 4 stars? Its audio recording capability leaves OmniOutliner Pro on the edge of divinity. Audio recordings are outline-entry-specific. Compare Circus Ponies NoteBook, where you can record an entire lecture or meeting, take notes, and clicking afterwards on the audio icon by each outline entry will take you to the exact place in the audio that corresponds to your notes. If OmniOutliner Pro had that, it would be the _ne plus ultra_ learning and research tool.148 of 256 people found this useful

Simply amazing, a complement to any student.

This and all of the Omni Group's software are designed flawlessly and very, very powerful. This app is picture perfect for things as advanced as my college classes all the way down to little things like grocery lists. Would recommend to any person who likes being organized.
