regarding Euchre
Written by DH from Woodhaven
Sep 29, 2009
If you desire to play competitive Euchre then skip this card game. Poorly written at best. Computer will always run you out of trump, ie your partner will try to set you.
If computer is dealt say trump right , ace, queen, ten and off ace then computer will not shoot.
Amazing how easily the opponents nab two pointers.
So the bottom line is call it and keep calling it.2 of 3 people found this useful

Solitaire game is limited and poorly written
Written by KZ from voorhees

Bought this to play spider solitaire--but it is extremely limited and can only be played in one mode. Yes, you get a lot of appearance choices--but the game is awful!

Very disappointed
Written by PJ from Wichita

When I purchase a card game (not just download freeware or rely on what's given as standard software), I expect it to have everything. For regular solitaire, you only can only play 1 draw. If you want 3 draw or other customizable rules, you need to buy another game. Further frustrating me on this was the false hope the help menu gives you in having the full version. Also, games like hearts and euchre always show you what cards are available to play with no way of turning it off if you already know what you're doing (basically always in beginner mode). Considering it's marketed as everything you could want, I'm extremely disappointed.

Good low-cost source for Free Cell
Written by KM
Oct 1, 2008
For the previous reviewer who couldn't find Free Cell: click on Masque Solitaire, then click the Game button in the lower left corner. Next click Pick Another Game and you'll find Free Cell and about a dozen other card game variations.
I didn't like some pre-set options but after clicking on Game Options (after clicking on the Game button) I was able to set up an enjoyable game.
One problem I initially had was accidently "brushing against" a card and having it move when I hadn't intended it to do so. But I went into Game Options and set Flying Cards to the slowest speed, and I seem to have lost the "hair trigger" that moved cards so dog-gone quickly.
Bottom line is that this is a low-cost, low-tech card game system. You don't get bells and whistles and you must do a bit of hunting and fiddling around with game options in order to find what you want, and then get it to look and behave the way that suits you. But I've wanted to play computer Free Cell at home ever since someone gave me an old (but still reliable) clamshell laptop. I don't have Internet at home, so downloading a game wasn't an option. I got the game I wanted and am very pleased.
I haven't played any of the other games, so this review is limited to just what I know about Free Cell.30 of 31 people found this useful

I recommend no
Written by DK from Winsted

I just got the games and find everything about them is not what I had hoped. I like Spider Solitaire but only play medium difficulty. There doesn't seem to be any choice. Its only 4 suits. no fun. I love canasta but the partner it has for me throws away cards we've melded and ones that would make naturals for us when he has plenty of cards in his hand. What gives? It is as though the designers had no idea about the games or certainly any appreciation for their nuance. There are so few offerings for my mac, that I just hoped this would be good. I'll try Hoyle's even though it has received worse comments. At least it has bridge. I can't play online when I'm flying.

Don't Buy for Solitaire
Written by MG from Prunedale

I wanted this for solitaire (regular), Free Cell & Spider.
If it had Free Cell or Spider, I couldn't find them.
Solitaire was worthless-- it always prompted you with the next move. What's the point?
If you like solitaire, don't waste your money on this.
If you like the other games, it might work for you but I don't know because I am unfamiliar with them and was not interested in them.

For the price, this is a fantastic deal. I am so happy to have solitaire back on my home computer. I only wish some card games would have been included with my Imac. With this product you will have hours of fun.

Masque Card Games

To those reviewers who were "disappointed" in this product, I'd like to ask what on earth they expected! I bought this set of card games because my iMac had only chess pre-installed (a game I play, but it's not my favourite). I rather missed having solitaire and other games on my computer! I am entirely pleased with the selection of games on this disc ~ there's something for everyone, it seems to me. The games with which I'm familiar have enough variety and difficulty levels to keep me entertained. I am enjoying learning how to play the games which I didn't previously know. The entertainment value is high. Ironically, the collection of solitaire games didn't turn my crank, but that's a matter of personal preference, not a failing with the games themselves. These games are literally pastimes ~ an entertaining way to pass some time. Go ahead. Enjoy! The lack of the 5th star reflects my opinion that it's priced too high ~ as are all the game discs being offered.

RIGGED!
Written by PS from Dallas
Sep 20, 2007
The graphics and playing action are very good. The problem is that when the hands for many of the games are dealt they are rigged depending on the status of the game score. This becomes woefully apparent after you play a game a few times. This does not appear to be the case with solitaire because the hands are only dealt once at the beginning of the game.

A WINNER!!
Written by MB

I had to laugh when I read the review from "Disappointed". These card game are very enjoyable and very, very well done. With regard to the Solitaire games, perhaps Disappointed should look at the many options and set them to his liking. I have played over 1,000 games of Solitaire, my wife says I'm addicted to these games. Definitely a Winner!!

Disappointed
Written by BK from Hastings-on-Hudson

I have been playing Hoyle Spades for years, and win far more often than I lose. It is impossible to win at Masque Spades, even at the easiest level, because the cards are stacked against you. I've probably played 30 games, and I've only won twice. Hearts is great, strategy is far more important and the cards are distributed fairly. I was also disappointed that the only Solitaire game essentially plays the game for you. There is no skill involved -- it's essentially a beat-the-clock game, or beat your best time. Not what I expected at all.
