If you are bored with the campaign, try LAN. It is so much fun with a friend who is as good at it as you! It does need an update but thats what the expansion packs are for...

Will run on a macbook
Written by BL from Seattle
Feb 18, 2008
Granted I have 4 gigs of RAM, but this game runs just fine. I say this because before I bought the game I wanted to make sure that such a new title would run with a video card that shares RAM. I haven't had a problem at all, use the graphic settings that the game presets to, so I'm not turned up all the way but I haven't turned it down. Other than that this game is awesome, much like the previous Empires titles with a fun new setting and twist. Well worth the money and very enjoyable. My only suggestion is get a two button mouse before you start playing.

I just bought this game and have played it ever since i opened the package! The graphics are incredible. Very easy to grasp how to play within 5 minutes. Good campaign mode, and a fast playing single-player skirmish mode (my favorite). A wonderful game to play and it uses some strategy as well. I'm sure it'll provide hours upon hours of entertainment!

Not worth it
Written by BD from seattle
Feb 12, 2008
I bought this game based on the positive reviews here but after playing the game I'm convinced that the game creators posted many of these reviews in an attempt to market their product. In my opinion this game is on par with games that Blizzard was putting out 10 years ago. Warcraft 3 certainly is a more compelling strategy game than Age of Empires. I wouldn't waste your money on it. I was bored after the first few campaigns.

This is a very enjoyable game with high quality performance and graphics. This game works really well on our imac.
There are only a few glitches. One of these is sometimes your guys get stuck inside a building while it is built, so after the building is built you can't get him out again.
But this is nothing really to bad37 of 51 people found this useful

Amazing Game A Must

I have had this game for a few months now and I have been happy for every minute of that time. The campain is amzing, and is engaging. The online multiplayer via GameRanger is great. There are always people ready to play. Runs fine on MacBook and Mac Pro. A must have game for all mac owners. The expansion is also well worth the money.

Great...but...

This is a wonderful game. It will offer you more hours of entertainment than most video games, but when I play it on my macnook with an external monitor it pauses and skips a every 5 minutes for about 1 min. It is very frustrating. If I am just playing it on my 6 month old white macbook it is fine, but if I use the monitor it is too much info apparently.

Wow, this game can absorb you if you like RTS games. A 24" iMac can make this game run very fluently as well as make it look good.

Guess I am in the minority viewpoint...

I really liked the first 2 AOE but do not like this game at all. I think they changed too much. When C & C made the jump to 3D, their game changes seemed to go more along with the history of the game. I really dont like home city feature. I dont play often but when I do, I like the fact with AOE 2 I could just pic a society, this game seems to require to much "effort" (lack of better word) to develop a game if you are just looking to kill a bit of time. Graphics are great and I think it is a well built game that runs flawless on my intel imac, just too much of a departure from the game play of the other AOE.
This is all coming from a very seldom game player so take it for what its worth.46 of 85 people found this useful

Age of Empires III
By Far Outstanding!
Written by DR
Dec 15, 2007
I thought this game really rocked. I thought it would be the best game in the world, but I realized that it was just as good as the second one. This one had better graphics, more enjoyable scenery, and the upgrade of almost all guns. Before you could only have swordsman, which was still pretty good. It has a great story line but the easy cheat, "tucktucktuck" ruined it. You get tempted to make a huge monster truck, but then you just kill everyone quick instead of gaining your kills. Anyway, this game is by far a great game to play!

Remarkable
Written by PS

When I purchased AOE3, I was sceptical about how well it would run on my system, beacuse civ4 was choppy and that prograhm was graphicaly less intensive, but man was I wrong to worry, this game runs brilliantly, even on the highest graphical setings, at least for my 20" imac, I run 1G of ram, 2.4 processor and 256-vram. I can honestly say it was one of the best purchases I have made for my mac.

I play this on my 1st gen Blackbook, 2GB Ram, all maxed out. The game runs fantastically, I run it on highest settings (highest that the game will allow for a computer with my non-existent graphics card!) with no lag! Plus the game play is great fun, the animations are wonderfully done, and is a great game for any AoE lover.

This game is almost perfect. The in-game physics are perfectly tuned. The visuals are very beautiful. The new civilizations are also fundamental in giving the player a genuine experience. I highly recommend.
