    So-So

    • Written by from San Francisco

I actually like the sound as it has volume when needed.
My complaints are all technical, first and foremost no on-off switch. So when my computer goes to sleep and there is no audio the speakers make weird white noise. I tried to separate the speakers from other electronics but to no avail. So the speaker has to have it's own surge protection strip that I use to turn them on and off. I also feel they don't have a proper ground on the aluminum iMacs as the input plug into the computer makes loud sounds if moved even slightly.
I enjoy the over all sound, but think my cheaper JBLs were better from a technical point of view.

    Very Good for the Money

The Bose Companion 2 V2 are a great speaker for your desktop, laptop or iPod! I would highly recemend them. They are a very crisp sounding speaker.

The only issue that I have ran into is a little distortion at a higher volume. But for the price you can't ask for a perfect speaker.

Great for parties, bad for background music/TV

    • Written by from Sherwood

The sound from these speakers is surprisingly loud and bassy, as they are quite small. At loud volumes, they sound great, but at lower volumes, the amount of sub-bass is hideous and things such as male speech results in awful boominess, this would disturb neighbours or people in other rooms, and sounds bad to the listener. These do not suit my Mac Mini Media Centre setup, they have too much electronic jiggery-pokery of the audio signal. The EQ graph must look like a ski slope. If they had a bass and treble knob I'd give them 5.

Superior sound, size, and price...just plain superior.

I've had these speakers for a few months now and I've not been let down yet. I bought these as a substitute for the speakers on my MacBook (which aren't so hot). These speakers have an amazing range, with incredible bass response - which is surprising given their size, but not surprising from Bose. If you want a good set of reliable, rugged speakers for home for a fantastic price, this is the way to go.

    I have to agree...

I'm not sure these speakers live up to the Bose name... I have a pair of Bose headphones and I love the sound but the bass on these speakers are sometimes good and not so good. I believe a lot of it depends on the quality of music your are listening to (mp3 vs cd). I think for desktop speakers w/o a subwoofer, they give out a full sound which is good if you have limited space. If unable to afford the upper end desktop Bose speakers, these speakers are good if you keep in mind you may have to tweak with your EQ and $100 for a bose product is cheap.

    great deal..

    • Written by from Unionville

honestly, for the price in comparison to some of the other Bose units, these two speakers are wonderful. they are very well designed from the control knob that rotates very smoothly, to the lovely angle in which they sit. it really does project the sound throughout the room. only thing i can find less positive is that the first half of the dial section is relatively quiet, but once you pass halfway, the true sound kicks in.

    Value for money indeed!

    • Written by from Eustis

I used my rebate from my iPhone to get these. I've got them hooked to my Mac Pro and my Pro Tools setup. For recording, they're not bad, not the best, obviously, but still, when you're on a budget and want your mixes to sound great, these can help. When listening to stuff on iTunes, it sounds FANTASTIC. Thank you, Bose, and thank you, Apple.

    so-so speakers

    • Written by from Richmond

I was so excited to get these speakers, when it arrived I thought oh-woah... but when i put it together, it wasn't as good as i expected. The bass was too heavy, it gives u like the bass is too over the top of the music. I was testing the speakers w/ a saxophone CD. With this price, it's OK... when u turn it up high, the sound was so yucky. Anyway again - with this price, it's an OK product.

    Great Speakers!

    • Written by from Dallas

I treated myself to these last christmas, since I was living off of ancient Dell speakers from my old computer, and ten months later I'm still very pleased. They provide room filling sound and great quality- no matter what you're listening to.

    Loud.

    • Written by from BRENTWOOD

Overall these are good speakers, but good would be the primary word. Nothing to write home about. They get really loud and have a good, crisp, clear sound. However, I replaced them with the Creative GigaWorks T20 Speaker System, and I like them a lot more. Also, I wasn't pleased with the bass quality with the Bose speakers.

    Outstanding

    • Written by from Sheffield

These speakers live up to everything that Bose and the public expects. They may be small but the overall sound quality is superb. The mid and high range are very clear and there is enough bass to fill a room. The black finish and silver screens compliment the new iMac very well.

    Live up to my expectations!

    • Written by from Springfield Gardens

I expected a lot from Bose Speakers and my expectations were met. Tried them in a Bose showroom. Value for money is awesome and I love these speakers. They are also great for presentations as they don't distort even in high volume. Fantastic investment, there is no way going back to other speakers. If you finetune the equalizer settings in iTunes abit to your liking the sounds blows you away.

    Best Money Spent

    • Written by from ANNISTON

For a pair of $99 computer speakers, its the best money I have spent. The sound is great. I like to listen at low volumes but they are great if you want to crank them them. I'm going to buy another pair for my iBook.

    Returned Them

    • Written by from Weare

I originally bought these for my new iMac. Unpacking was easy, and set-up was a breeze. But the sound was just OK. I felt that the bass was too heavy and overpowered the mid-range and treble to the point where there really wasn't any clarity in the sound at all. In my opinion, they are not worth the price. I exchanged them for some JBL spots, for the same price, and couldn't be happier. Aside from the sound the one big area of improvement for these speakers would be a power button. I didn't like to keep them plugged in all the time because the plug (and it was one of those big plugs that takes up 3 spaces in the surge strip) got rather warm, and crawling under my desk to plug them in and out was inconvenient.

Rich, lugubrious sound from a small space!

    • Written by from Herndon

These small speakers validate my belief that Bose engineering and manufacture are top drawer. Bose gives the listener more quality sound - crystal clear and up and down the dynamic range, than speaker pairs costing a lot more. These are the best for the money. Bar none.
