    Love these speakers

    • Written by from Brighton

These are a definite great buy. Simple set-up, great sound quality as with any Bose product. They look great next to my 21.5 in iMac and sound even better. It truly enhances sound whether it be a movie or music from iTunes.

    Brilliant!

Hooked up my new Companion 2 series II speakers to my 27'' iMac last night and couldn't be more pleased. Everything I could ask for. Many have stated that there is no on-off switch, but it's located on the volume control dial. You can't go wrong with a Bose-Apple Mix.

    Good speakers for the money

    • Written by from Toronto

There speakers are great for the price.

Solid sound, good bass, clear treble and loud.

Good for movies and games. There also great for rock style music. For more classical music and jazz or just more clarity, consider the companion 20 or mm 1.

    Hope this helped!!!

    Not all I imagined

    • Written by from san diego

The speakers are aesthically pleasing, nice rubber feet and a good solid feel out of the box, after that I was less than thrilled. The sound quality is good at a low to medium volume, but the impressiveness ended there. About 3/4 through the volume dials range the volume did not change at all. The sound began to fluctuate and flutter about and the quality of sound dropped off. I was looking for a set of speakers that could provide some volume to a large living room, but I wouldnt recommend these speakers for that purpose. They are an excellent set of speakers for your computer or small office and or bedroom. I returned this product and upgraded.

not what i expected from bose

    • Written by from Fishers

I did get these for free from apple but I got these because they were bose. They dont sound great...they just sound ok....I still use my logitech speakers because they sound better. Of course the logitech speakers have a subwoofer and the bose do not. Anyway I think there are probably better speakers than these.

    AWESOME

    • Written by from Westlake Village

Let me start by saying that I am a total audiophile. I usually only listen to vinyl, and when I'm not I usually use my high end studio monitors connected to my Mac. I got these to use with my MacBook Pro in my bedroom, so just for day to day listening, occasional movies, etc. Nothing serious. Let me tell you, in these applications and for this price, these speakers are FANTASTIC!! Clean, punchy bass, full sound and VERY powerful for their size. My one complaint is that none of the cables are quite long enough (power cable, audio from speaker to speaker, audio to computer) but in 90% of applications, this isn't an issue. I have mine pretty stretched out around the TV that my laptop is connected to and my power strip is on the other side of my desk, so I'm pretty unique. I really really wanted to buy the companion 5s instead, but could not afford them. For $100, these speakers are really really good. Bose lives up to its reputation, even with their lower end products. A HUGE improvement over the cheap logitech speakers I was using for day-to-day tasks before I got these. HIGHLY recommended.

Mid Bass is boomy and lacks midrange for vocals

    • Written by from lake tapps

I had high hopes for these speakers and with the ninety dollar price tag I expected better for the Bose name. I am comparing these to the Logitech X 530 5.1 and the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1. The low end bass is non existent since there is no sub which I expected, but the mid-bass is very boomy like the effect when you turn the bass up on the cheap Logitech speakers. All things aside I just cannot get over the fact that mid range for vocals is non-existent and creates a hollow sound. Over all I give these a lower than average score that would match a $30 Logitech pair of satellites. Make sure you listen to these in store before you waste $90.

    Very Well Worth It

    • Written by from Orlando

I purchased these speakers feeling like I was taking a great risk after reading some of the reviews for these speakers. My use for them would be strictly for listening to music and occasionally watch some videos. After hooking this up to my Mac Mini, I can say that I am very content with this purchase. These speakers have great sound, even the bass is pretty good, and I don't need an extra subwoofer. I wanted just two speakers with great sound to play music and I've found that with these speakers.

A great addition with my JBL Creature I bass

    • Written by from Sugar Land

My creature I's tweeters were messed up, they are over 5 years old and basically disintegrated. I wired these new speakers (Bose) with the Creature bass, and OMG. I realized the bass on the Bose doesn't go very deep, but mids and highs are beautiful. Thankfully for my Creature bass I'm able to rock my room and still have the comfort of clarity!

Horrible sound after a few years

    • Written by from Oakland

After a few years of use, the sound has gone completely muddy and flat, to the point that I can't understand what people are saying in movies.

    Feedback

    • Written by from Burnaby

I use these with my 27" imac and 27" additional monitor. I tend to get random and extremely loud feedback. I exchanged them hoping it was just a faulty pair of speakers. Same deal on the second try. Moving on to a different set of speakers.

    Great Sound

These little speakers pack a lot of punch and deliver exceptional sound quality over all.
    No bulky bass sub needed.

Perfect for Listening to TWO Sources at Once

    • Written by from Chapel Hill

I bought these speakers because I wanted to listen to my iPod AND my computer at the same time. I run so many tasks concurrently on my computer that I prefer not to add iTunes into that mix if I don't need to. So instead I listen to my iPod Touch when working at my computer. But I still want to hear sounds from my computer, including notifications, ringing from Skype, occasional videos, etc. The dual-inputs on these speakers allow me to do just that. I keep them constantly connected to my iMac along with an extra cable on my desk to plug in either my iPod or sometimes my laptop. I figured (correctly) that these Bose speakers could handle both inputs at the same time with no noise issues or problems. Bose just knows how sound should be! I expected no less than that these little Bose speakers would provide a rich, full sound, even without a sub-woofer – and these deliver!

It's nice that these speakers also provide a headphone jack on the front where you can easily attach earbuds. Much more convenient than reaching around to the back of a Mac when you need to be quieter. Plus, you continue to get BOTH sources of sound as one listening experience!

Do note that these speakers only have RCA inputs on the back (2 sets). So you will need 3.5mm stereo to dual-RCA cable(s) to attach this to your Mac's audio jack and/or iPod.

    Superb

    • Written by from Camberley

I wasn't sure about buying these as they looked too small and I thought they would not have any bass and buzz and such like at higher volumes. I heard them playing in a store and was blown away at how much clear volume could come from them. I ended up buying these to use in my failry large living room for movies, games and music and I dont think I could have done better. I am so pleased i did not need a cumbersome subwoofer anymore.

    A.K.A. Airport Express Companion

    • Written by from Stettler

I bought these speakers with the express purpose of sending my music to them from my computer via Airport Express, and cannot be happier with the result. These little speakers are very compatible with Airport Express, produce very good sound for their size and price, perform very well in my large living room at the moderate volume levels I prefer.

    Beautiful

    • Written by from Shippensburg

Awesome little speakers. Extremely impressed with the stereo image they can produce. I've used Logitech 2.1 systems (when they were good), Creative 2.1's, Logitech and Creative 5.1's and have a Yamaha receiver with Polk speakers. Not kidding, these are extremely impressive for the price. They are not / cannot be as "loud and bassy" as a system with a sub. But its crazy how they can fill a room with a beautiful image. Very pleased, hope to use them for a while. I would recommend these for someone who wants a good representation of the music they listen to but don't want to buy B&W or don't have the room for a 2.1 or 5.1 (like me).
