    Not That Great but OK

Purchased these today, i have many other Bose products and assumed that these would be as good. They are OK but do not sound as good as the Demo unit at the store, definitely missing the sound of Bass unless i am missing something!!!

Was looking for a sound-bar speaker instead, but came home with these, not too sure if i will keep them yet......

    Incredible for general listening

My former roommate owned some of these speakers. Wow... I didn't think speakers under $100 could have so much bass! Also these speakers have a decently bright midrange and (to general listening ears) a perfectly rolled off treble. For mastering and EQ, it's not perfect, but for someone who just wants to turn iTunes or Spotify on in the background, you will not go wrong with these speakers!

Too Much Bass for My High Rise Apartment

    • Written by from San Francisco

I live in a pre-war high rise apartment building in San Francisco made of concrete and NOT sound proof. If I just have these up just above listening level I hear banging from the neighbors. I also have a Bose Sound Dock 9 (the largest one) I can't even use that one in this building as I have already got a noise warning from the landlord. I once had my own condo and was not renting so there is the dilemma. I wish Bose would put a bass modulator or control on these bad boys.....love the bass....but some do not.

Great Speakers for who needs it

I just bought them right now, I feel like the treble is not that great, the sound is a little muffled. Base is ok, but the imitated surround sounds did pull it off very well. And heres a great news, I was told that you cant turn them off completely cause they had no off switch, and its true I looked everywhere online, and not a picture nor any google link showed up that has it, but for some reason, mines do! I guess they upgraded the new ones and put a REAL off switch when you turn it all the way down, you hear and feel a click, and its off for GOOD! Anyways they look nice and stylish, Great speakers for a regular user!

Great for a 2.0 speaker system

I'm not an audiophile but I disagreed with so many of the negative reviews that I read about these speakers that I felt obligated to provide my two cents.

For a 2.0 speaker with no subwoofer and for the price these are great speakers. Similar to a lot of speakers positioning is everything. I have them about 4 inches away from either side of my 27" iMac and angled so that each speaker is facing one of my ears. The difference when these are positioned right is huge! They're not an elite speaker system but for $99 dollars you're not paying for an elite speaker system. For the money they're great.

    Pros:
    Clear sound
Highs and Mids come through clearly
For the price and no subwoofer they can't be beat

    Cons:
Lows can get overwhelmed at high volumes, but they're good at all but the highest levels.

    Decent, but not the best

Decent enough speakers. Doesn't really hit the high notes, or the low ones, but that's what I expect from Bose. They are much better than any built in sound, but for the price you can find better speakers.

They provide about a 10% improvement over the iMac speakers. This is not what I was looking for. I went out and bought the Logitech 5.1 speakers for the same price and they are 5 times better.

    Sound Quality Gets Bad

As usual with all Bose products...the quality is reasonable (if not flat) for the first 6 months...then they seem to just fall apart. Same experience with headphones. For your money, you'll get better out of Altec Lansing for less price and they'll last more than 2 years.

    Not a great speaker

Nice rich, but processed sound. Quality looking item. Nicely finished. But, not very natural sounding when the supposed processor cant keep up with any drastic sound change. i.e. dramatic classical pieces or any drastic change in volume during any play back at volume. I heard the speaker trying to keep up with louder passages. Almost like it was underpowered. It kept giving a breathing effect. In the end I just could not bring myself to keep these on the same desk as my 27" iMac. Not in the same class. I just kept expecting more from them, that they could not deliver. Overall nice equipment that shows well in a room but dont expect worldclass performance. Just not up to task. Unfortunately the comment I read a while ago applies still, "BOSE is the McDonalds of the speaker industry". They are more of a marketing compay than a good speaker company.

Great sound when in use, too much hiss when not

I own two sets of these speakers. A bit over a year old, and they still sound great. When you plug in apple ear buds, it's amazing how much bass they can generate. Some really good sound drivers in these speakers.

However, they pick up a lot of noise, and hiss when not in use. The noise they pick up (hissing/clicking) when you try to hook them up to a iPhone dock are terrible when you are in a small quiet room. Forget about hooking up a dock and computer, as the dock generates too much noise. There is no power button either, so you can't even turn them off when not in use.

Over all, I'm torn with my review. Such great sounding when being used. But they have so much hiss/noise when not being used that I have unplugged them and switched back to computer speakers for my iMac. I probably will plug them back in soon enough though.

Good Speakers, Creative T20's Better Though.

PRODUCT: Small packaging, not too small, not too big of speakers, perfect in size for a small desk or kitchen. Very clean, sleek design compared to the Creative T20 Series II Speakers. Right speaker in the front has a volume knob and a 3.5mm headphone jack. In the rear of the right speaker, power input, 4 RCA (red & white) inputs and input for the left speaker.

SOUND: Very clean, nice sound overall. They lack some crispness in the mid and lows. They have a very nice sound for the size of the speakers, nothing amazing, nothing horrible. They are definitely worth the $60-$80 range. You are paying some extra money for the "Bose" name, more so than a quality product. In every aspect however, the Creative T20 Series II Speakers beat the Bose. For the same money I would recommend the Creative T20 Series II Speakers over the Bose, but keep in the mind the Bose still sound very nice for the size and price. If you're stuck on getting the Bose and aren't looking for an "god like" speaker you wont' be disappointed, but I would definitely recommend the Creative T20 Series II Speakers over them.

I have many sets of speakers(pro media 2.1, and z-906) but i needed a smaller, more portable, space saving set with good sound reproduction. These do it perfectly, and they are quite loud. The sound is much clearer than any logitech set I've heard as well, which is impressive considering it only contains one driver. They sound better the louder you play them, basically no distortion at all.

Bose is an ok brand and these speakers do not disappoint. You get deep bass and a good mid-range. The highs are lacking but that normal for speakers of this limited scope. The main problem I have is that they pick up all sorts of EM interference: i.e. cell phones, electric generators...etc. This comes out as either a low volume hum or a short sequence of garbled beeps and boops in the case of cell phone interference. Other than that these speakers are priced well for what they can do. I've had them running for 3 years now.

BOSE speakers for $99 I couldn't believe my eyes

Wow Bose I said, ordered them and this is it for me. This is a phenomenal buy to use with any of your compatible Mac products, my main use has been on my iMac. As Bose usually does, they developed those speakers with quality, good sound and a price that rather floored me, in a good way! I'd recumbent these speakers to any Mac user. Very happy

I like the speakers the way I that the treble and bass is balanced and the bass is not over powered like my altec Lansing and not lacking the bass either. The only reason I took a star off cuz its almost same as series one(i had it for 2 years and changed to the latest). The bottom line is: these speakers are awsome
