    Incredible for general listening

    • Written by from Science Hill

My former roommate owned some of these speakers. Wow... I didn't think speakers under $100 could have so much bass! Also these speakers have a decently bright midrange and (to general listening ears) a perfectly rolled off treble. For mastering and EQ, it's not perfect, but for someone who just wants to turn iTunes or Spotify on in the background, you will not go wrong with these speakers!

BOSE speakers for $99 I couldn't believe my eyes

    • Written by from Uncasville

Wow Bose I said, ordered them and this is it for me. This is a phenomenal buy to use with any of your compatible Mac products, my main use has been on my iMac. As Bose usually does, they developed those speakers with quality, good sound and a price that rather floored me, in a good way! I'd recumbent these speakers to any Mac user. Very happy

These are a definite great buy. Simple set-up, great sound quality as with any Bose product. They look great next to my 21.5 in iMac and sound even better. It truly enhances sound whether it be a movie or music from iTunes.

Hooked up my new Companion 2 series II speakers to my 27'' iMac last night and couldn't be more pleased. Everything I could ask for. Many have stated that there is no on-off switch, but it's located on the volume control dial. You can't go wrong with a Bose-Apple Mix.

    AWESOME

    • Written by from Westlake Village

Let me start by saying that I am a total audiophile. I usually only listen to vinyl, and when I'm not I usually use my high end studio monitors connected to my Mac. I got these to use with my MacBook Pro in my bedroom, so just for day to day listening, occasional movies, etc. Nothing serious. Let me tell you, in these applications and for this price, these speakers are FANTASTIC!! Clean, punchy bass, full sound and VERY powerful for their size. My one complaint is that none of the cables are quite long enough (power cable, audio from speaker to speaker, audio to computer) but in 90% of applications, this isn't an issue. I have mine pretty stretched out around the TV that my laptop is connected to and my power strip is on the other side of my desk, so I'm pretty unique. I really really wanted to buy the companion 5s instead, but could not afford them. For $100, these speakers are really really good. Bose lives up to its reputation, even with their lower end products. A HUGE improvement over the cheap logitech speakers I was using for day-to-day tasks before I got these. HIGHLY recommended.

    Very Well Worth It

    • Written by from Orlando

I purchased these speakers feeling like I was taking a great risk after reading some of the reviews for these speakers. My use for them would be strictly for listening to music and occasionally watch some videos. After hooking this up to my Mac Mini, I can say that I am very content with this purchase. These speakers have great sound, even the bass is pretty good, and I don't need an extra subwoofer. I wanted just two speakers with great sound to play music and I've found that with these speakers.

These little speakers pack a lot of punch and deliver exceptional sound quality over all.
    No bulky bass sub needed.

Perfect for Listening to TWO Sources at Once

    • Written by from Chapel Hill

I bought these speakers because I wanted to listen to my iPod AND my computer at the same time. I run so many tasks concurrently on my computer that I prefer not to add iTunes into that mix if I don't need to. So instead I listen to my iPod Touch when working at my computer. But I still want to hear sounds from my computer, including notifications, ringing from Skype, occasional videos, etc. The dual-inputs on these speakers allow me to do just that. I keep them constantly connected to my iMac along with an extra cable on my desk to plug in either my iPod or sometimes my laptop. I figured (correctly) that these Bose speakers could handle both inputs at the same time with no noise issues or problems. Bose just knows how sound should be! I expected no less than that these little Bose speakers would provide a rich, full sound, even without a sub-woofer – and these deliver!

It's nice that these speakers also provide a headphone jack on the front where you can easily attach earbuds. Much more convenient than reaching around to the back of a Mac when you need to be quieter. Plus, you continue to get BOTH sources of sound as one listening experience!

Do note that these speakers only have RCA inputs on the back (2 sets). So you will need 3.5mm stereo to dual-RCA cable(s) to attach this to your Mac's audio jack and/or iPod.

    Superb

I wasn't sure about buying these as they looked too small and I thought they would not have any bass and buzz and such like at higher volumes. I heard them playing in a store and was blown away at how much clear volume could come from them. I ended up buying these to use in my failry large living room for movies, games and music and I dont think I could have done better. I am so pleased i did not need a cumbersome subwoofer anymore.

    A.K.A. Airport Express Companion

    • Written by from Stettler

I bought these speakers with the express purpose of sending my music to them from my computer via Airport Express, and cannot be happier with the result. These little speakers are very compatible with Airport Express, produce very good sound for their size and price, perform very well in my large living room at the moderate volume levels I prefer.

    Beautiful

    • Written by from Shippensburg

Awesome little speakers. Extremely impressed with the stereo image they can produce. I've used Logitech 2.1 systems (when they were good), Creative 2.1's, Logitech and Creative 5.1's and have a Yamaha receiver with Polk speakers. Not kidding, these are extremely impressive for the price. They are not / cannot be as "loud and bassy" as a system with a sub. But its crazy how they can fill a room with a beautiful image. Very pleased, hope to use them for a while. I would recommend these for someone who wants a good representation of the music they listen to but don't want to buy B&W or don't have the room for a 2.1 or 5.1 (like me).

    Whats not to love?

These, my friend, are to die for. I am a hardcore music listener and movie watcher and was looking for a good set of mobile speakers that were $100 or less. After weeks of researching and comparing, I decided to jump on these. I have had them for about a month, and have no complains.

Although it has built in bass, I was shocked on how powerful they were. Now, the bass isn't extreme considering how it has no separate console, but they are great for being built in.

Another plus is the dual inputs. I can hook them up to my laptop as well as run cords to my tv. They are very portable and I have moved them from room to room, hooking them up to different TVs, computers, video game systems, DVD players, etc.

The length of the cord between the two speakers, and the length of the power cord is a little bit on the short end. So if you are planning to hook these up on opposite sides of a room (which I have done) you will need a couple more set of cords to hook it up to. But the sound is incredible and flows around the whole room. Watching movies with them separated is fantastic and worth the 100 dollars. The audio quality is swell and can be turned up very loud without damaging the sound quality.

Overall, this is a fantastic buy and Bose lives up to its name.

    Great speakers

    • Written by from Little Falls

These speakers are great. First off, my neighbor gave me these as thanks for fixing her computer. These have been knocked off the desk and slammed on the floor many times by her three hyper daughters and her cat, but they still sound great, at least as good as the demo Companion IIs at the local Bose store which didn't look like they had ever been touched. Very durable speakers. Second, all the sound reproduction is great across the spectrum. I was especially impressed with the bass. It sounds like there really is a subwoofer. Third, nice thick cables that are long enough to position the speakers anywhere you want. Fourth, the the speakers feel very solid. There is a strong metal plate in front that will not bend and the plastic parts even feel like very high quality. Fifth, there are dual red and white audio inputs, so you can connect it to your computer and something else, such as an iPod and the red and white inputs make it easy to connect to a game console or DVD player or TV.

No cons here. Bose has outdone themselves on this system. It's totally worth $100.
